Abstract: A method of controlling communication quality between one node and at least one other node in a packet switched communication system, the method comprising the steps of detecting at one of said nodes a condition that indicates that communication quality is below an acceptable threshold, automatically generating instructions based on the detected condition for a user of the at least one node, said instructions intended to provide a remedy to improve the communication quality, and receiving input from a user of the at least one node responsive to the instructions to implement the remedy and thereby improve the communication quality.

Abstract: A device and method for filtering messages is provided. The device comprises: a processor; a memory storing messages, at least a subset of the messages designated as unread messages; and a touchscreen including a display. A sliding touch input is detected at the touchscreen, the sliding touch input including a change in direction, the sliding touch input terminating in a static touch input proximal an edge of the touchscreen. In response to detecting the static touch input, a list of the unread messages is provided at the display.

Abstract: Various methods and systems for collaborating on the specification of an interactive graphical design are provided. An exemplary system comprises a graphical design environment. The system also comprises a note interface in the graphical design environment that displays a note field for accepting a text string from the user. The system also comprises a design player that renders the design. The system also comprises a discussion interface that: (i) is displayed in the design player consistently with the design; (ii) displays the text string from the user as a note; and (iii) accepts a comment from a second user regarding the note. The system also comprises a data store accessible to the graphical design environment and the design player. The comment is displayed in the graphical design environment after being accepted in the discussion interface.

Abstract: The invention relates to a document management system and a method therein. In order to perform co-authoring of an electronic object between at least two devices, the method comprises performing a reservation of an electronic object from a server for co-authoring from a first client device, writing the electronic object in modifiable form to a co-authoring folder in a common location accessible by the first client device and at least one other device; providing an access to at least one other device to the co-authoring folder; and when co-authoring of the electronic object is finished, reading the electronic object from the co-authoring folder and writing the electronic object to the server.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for providing communication initiation controls. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a term that a user has entered into a text field, selecting one or more contacts that match the term, providing a communication initiation control for each of multiple communication modes, determining, for each of the multiple communication modes, whether any of the selected contacts are available or are capable of communicating through the communication mode, and enabling or disabling, for each of the multiple communication modes, the communication initiation control for the communication mode based on determining whether any of the selected contacts are available or are capable of communicating through the communication mode.

Abstract: According to a general aspect, a method can include receiving a request, triggered via a consumer account, to access, using a social media application, a plurality of sharer content. The sharer content can be associated with a sharer account using the social media application. The method can include retrieving, in response to the request, a consumer value and a relationship value. The consumer value can represent an interaction with the social media application via the consumer account and the relationship value can characterize a relationship between a consumer identifier of the consumer account and a sharer identifier of the sharer account. The method can include selecting a subset of sharer content from the plurality of sharer content based on a combination of the consumer value and the relationship value, and can include defining a portion of a presentation customized for the consumer account using the selected subset of sharer content.

For example, the method establishes an owner profile, receives a request from a third party user to post information on a social networking site associated with an owner, determines if the request should be granted in accordance with the owner profile and posts the information on the social networking site associated with the owner if the request is granted.

Abstract: Technologies are described herein for distinguishing between conference participants associated with different groups. A communication is received from a participant during a conference. The participant's group affiliation is determined and a representation attribute corresponding to the group is used to render the communication within the conference. As a result, the communications from participants of like groups are displayed with like representation attributes to visually distinguish the communications according to group affiliations. An administrator may designate the representation attributes so that all of the communications from participants of the same group are similarly distinguished without action from the participants. Participants may filter the communications as desired according to the groups and corresponding representation attributes.

Abstract: The digital comic editor edits a piece of master data of a digital comic suitably for efficiently viewing a digital comic which has an image size larger than a screen size of a predetermined mobile terminal. The digital comic editor enables the master data of the digital comic to be appropriately edited. The master data includes a piece of image file having high resolution image of the entire page of the comic and an information file having described therein a piece of frame information including a piece of frame region information of the frame within the page. Particularly, the digital comic editor displays a frame boundary while superimposing the frame boundary on the image based on the frame region information included in the information file and displays a border F corresponding to the screen size of the predetermined mobile terminal on the image.

Abstract: A communication system and method for organization, preparation and viewing of emails, including a graphical user interface operating on a display of a computing device. The graphical user interface includes: a writing interface with writing functions; a reading interface with a plurality of reading functions; and an organizing interface with a plurality of organizing functions. The writing functions including a recipient action identifier indicating what is expected of the recipient with regard to the sent email, what folder the writer has designated the email is to be stored in on the recipient computing device, a read date identifying a date on which the writer wishes the recipient to read the email, and a writing block for text associated with a message being sent in accordance with the email. The recipient action identifier and the read date are appended to the email and by a computer system of a recipient upon receipt of the email by the recipient.

Abstract: The present invention is a method and system for using predetermined preferences/characteristics to ascertain personal compatibility between network or chat room participants based upon profile information. When the system determines that these preferences are favorable for interpersonal compatibility, the system will automatically notify or page the participants so as to facilitate their introduction. Further functionality, aside from the compatibility based upon profile information, includes e-mail and other electronic notification of personal compatibility as well as geographic compatibility.

Abstract: Techniques for optimizing desktop sharing for wireless clients during web collaboration are presented. In one embodiment, a computer-implemented method comprises determining that a presenter of a collaborative online meeting is using a desktop sharing session, determining that one or more attendees participating in the collaborative online meeting are using devices with limited display capabilities, determining a particular window displayed on the desktop of the presenter of the desktop sharing session, and causing transmission of only data from the particular window displayed on the desktop of the presenter to the one or more devices.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for displaying an Instant Messaging (IM) message are provided. The method includes, when the size of a picture to be processed is greater than the size of a container, setting the display size of the picture to be processed to be not greater than the size of the container; and drawing the picture to be processed according to the set display size. As such, a picture to be processed having the size greater than the container size can be adapted to the size of a container in IM software, and the IM software can directly display the entirety of the picture that is originally greater than the container size.

Abstract: A system and methodology for collaboration, comprising a plurality of computing appliances, and control logic for logically structuring the plurality of computing appliances as a main team. At least two of the computing appliances have input apparatus and display apparatus. The main team is comprised of a plurality of sub-teams, wherein each of the sub-teams is comprised of at least one of the plurality of computing appliances. Communications logic provides at least two levels of data communication and display presentation, a first level as between all of the plurality of computing appliances on the team, and a second set of a plurality of second levels as between those said computing appliances on each same said sub-team. Each of the computing appliances is associated with a respective one of said second set of levels.

Abstract: A system and methodology for collaboration. A plurality of computing appliances, each respective one of the plurality of computing appliances having a display apparatus and having a user input apparatus to provide respective annotation data as input for the respective user to permit the respective user to provide annotations which appear within a display presentation as an image for viewing and representative of the annotations. A first subset of the plurality of computing appliances is comprised of at least two of the computing appliances that form members of a group. Separate selective communication of the annotation data is provided among the members of the group. There is selective display of the annotation data to selected ones of the members of the group. Abstract: Meeting and conferencing systems and methods are implemented in a variety of manners. Consistent with an embodiment of the present disclosure, a meeting system is implemented that includes a computer server arrangement with at least one processor. The computer server arrangement is configured to provide a web-based meeting-group subscription option to potential meeting participants. A meeting scheduling data is received over a web-accessible virtual meeting interface. The meeting scheduling data includes group identification information and meeting time information. In response to the group identification information, participant identification information is retrieved for participants that subscribe to a meeting group identified by the group identification information. In response to the meeting time information and the participant identifying information, audio connections are established for participants of the meeting.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention address deficiencies of the art in respect to application sharing and provide a method, system and computer program product for user interface widget unit based application sharing. In a first embodiment, a data processing system for user interface widget unit based application sharing, can include a dynamic widget server communicatively linked to a dynamic widget browser. The dynamic widget browser can include program code enabled to render a user interface including one or more remote dynamic widgets peered to corresponding dynamic widgets for a dynamic view for an application launched by the dynamic widget server.

Abstract: A method and system for enabling a user to selectively make one or more highlights on one or more objects in a currently displayed internet document in a web browser are disclosed. The highlighting functionality is enabled for the user without requiring the user to download and/or install custom software. Furthermore, it is not necessary for the user to register with the highlighting service providing the functionality. The user-generated highlights are persistent in the sense that they remain associated with, and are displayed on, the internet document during subsequent browsing sessions by the user or other users.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a network-attached display device (e.g., projector) may join an online collaborative computing session as an attendee. The display device may then receive data for the online collaborative computing session as an attendee over the computer network. As such, the display device may render images associated with being an attendee of the online collaborative computing session from the received data, and then visually display the images associated with the online collaborative computing session.

Abstract: A user profile for a user of a social networking system may include experiences, such as work, educational, travel, and interests. The social networking system provides a profile page for a user's user profile that allows the user to tag other users as being involved in or otherwise associated with the user's experiences. Once another user is tagged in an experience, a corresponding tag is added to the tagged user's user profile, and that experience is added as well if not already included in the profile. Tagging users in experiences allows a viewer to see connections between experiences of users of the social networking system and promotes more detailed user profiles that contain experiences.

Abstract: Audit reporting applications provide audit users the ability to perform reviews of compliance procedures used throughout a business that require supervisors to take actions on the communication between personnel. The action analyzer tool compiles, filters, and sorts message and action information, allows more advance analytics about the information, and answers complex questions that are not easily available by looking at the raw message and action information. The action analyzer tool breaks down the actions taken in order to determine if the supervisors are trying to take credit for an action that they did not actually perform or otherwise violating the accepted procedures for proper supervision and compliance. The message and action information can be sorted into number of actions taken within a specific time frame, the number of actions performed after a specified date, and/or the number of actions taken without the message being reviewed, to name a few.

Abstract: The present application is directed to push notifications that can be used to dynamically update multiple icon panels. For example, the push notifications can be used to update two or more icon panels associated with the same application or two or more panels (i.e., sides) of a three-dimensional icon. In one embodiment, one or more push notifications can be used to independently update content on the panels. In another embodiment, a user can choose settings to assign panels that are to be updated using push notifications. A third party server can be automatically informed of an identification for the panel so that future push notifications incorporate the identification information.

In a case where a group to which a target user equipment belongs is changed from a first group to a second group, the target user equipment may transmit, to a first group member management device, the information regarding the group change. The first group member management device may update information about a group to which the target user equipment currently belongs, based on the information regarding the group change. In response to a receiving of a content request from a requesting user equipment, the first group member management device may transfer the content request to the target user equipment.

Abstract: In an information providing system, a virtual three-dimensional space is established by an information management server. A user of a mobile communication terminal moves in the virtual space, and browses, posts, and searches message information items by manipulating an avatar. The information management server manages the message information items and responds to searches requested from mobile communication terminals. The information management server specifies an area where the number of message information items relevant to a search word specified by a user of a mobile communication terminal is equal to or greater than a predetermined number. The information management server outputs a guide information item for indicating a direction or route toward the specified area from the position of an avatar. Based on the guide information item, the mobile communication terminal displays an image of an arrow pointing a direction or route toward the specified area as a target area.

Abstract: Various embodiments illustrated and described herein include systems, method, and software for video messaging generation, sending, view tracking, and automated follow-up. Such embodiments provide mechanisms allowing users to engage with recipients and to track and collect recipient information and their tendencies in order to increase communication effectiveness. Some embodiments include sending messages with links to video though various messaging platforms. For example, some embodiments include sending electronic messages via email or via an online hosted computer application system for delivery by the online hosted computer application. Examples of the online hosted computer applications include social networking websites such as FACEBOOK®, TWITTER®, and LINKEDIN®.

Abstract: A method, an apparatus and computer readable storage media facilitate establishing an email thread utilizing an email application used by a client device that communicates with other client devices across a network, where the email thread includes at least one email circulated to a group of users over the network relating to a discussion topic. The email application is linked with a synchronous communication application so as to establish a real-time discussion between at least some of the users of the group in relation to the topic utilizing the synchronous communication application and so that each email of the email thread is accessible via a graphical user interface associated with the synchronous communication application.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for window sharing with occlusion removal. In an embodiment, the techniques begin with a blank composition image, to which shared windows are added. For each window of a desktop from which at least one window is shared, traversing the windows from greatest z-depth to least z-depth, the window is processed based on whether it is shared and is occluded. Shared windows are copied to the composition image. Where a part of a shared window is occluded and cannot be retrieved, an indication of this occlusion is added to the composition image. When the windows have been processed, the composition image is encoded and sent to a client computer where it is displayed to produce the window sharing between computers.

Abstract: An exemplary method comprises maintaining product data in a computer-readable data store, the product data including a data entry comprising a question and an answer about a product, setting a lifetime date for the data entry, publishing the question and the answer about the product for access by at least one user, and, in response to the lifetime date being reached, automatically hiding the question and the answer about the product from access by the at least one user and designating the data entry for a lifetime review. Abstract: A system can include multiple individual status identifiers that correspond to multiple users and a group status identifier that corresponds to a group with which the users are associated. A status identifier update module can update the group status identifier based on a change to at least one of the individual status identifiers.

Abstract: Methods, devices, and systems are described for bumping a mobile device, such as a smart phone, against a fixed poster board display at a store to initiate a download of coupons, advertisements, or other benefits to the mobile device. Products can be rated by a user's up/down bump or other bump patterns. Using accelerometer-based inertial measurements, multiple users can control multiple mouse cursors on a large display with their mobile devices in order to select information to be downloaded to their mobile devices. The multiple users can bump the display in order to select their items simultaneously.

Abstract: A method of capturing business intelligence requirements includes establishing a graphical object definition interface, receiving user input through this interface to define various requirements objects, and storing the user-defined requirements objects in an object library. A graphical business intelligence outputs interface can also be established, such that users can provide input to define business intelligence outputs, each of which includes at least one requirements object from the object library expressed in reports and/or dashboards. Systems for practicing this and related methods are also disclosed.

Abstract: In one example embodiment, a system and method is illustrated that includes receiving input to execute a function associated with a display element of a Graphical User Interface (GUI), the display element to display edit history data relating to a displayed portion of structured data. Abstract: A method for operating a website for an online social networking includes is provided. The website receives a group picture depicting a plurality of individuals. Faces of the plurality of individuals depicted in the group picture are identified and personal information related to each identified face is requested and received. Each identified face in the group picture is cropped to create a plurality of cropped images, and the plurality of cropped images are displayed.

Abstract: Awards of value are awarded to residents of a virtual universe for consenting to be teleported in response to invitations for teleportation. The consent can be made conditional upon any of a variety of circumstances which can be specified by a resident of the virtual universe for a corresponding avatar and which form rules for auto-teleportation. These conditions can be stored and searched and avatar and location status monitored and compared to the conditions to control issuance of invitations to increase the likelihood that an invitation will be automatically accepted. A delay before acceptance is also preferably provided to provide for graceful conclusion or termination of current avatar activity.

Abstract: A shared resource computing (SRC) system that provides a mechanism for creating a shared session among individual sessions is described. In an ad hoc peer model, a session is created by individual users. One individual session assumes an administrative session role and invites other user sessions to join the shared session. Local environments from the individual sessions are published and the resources of the individual sessions form linked device groups that allow the resources to be aggregated for the shared session.

Abstract: A method, system, and medium are disclosed for managing calendar information associated with multiple users over a network. The calendar information may relate to scheduling, events or tasks, and is shared among users or devices. Flags may be stored in order to share and provide functionality to calendar information, such as generating calendar entries, permitting searches and coordinating calendar entries.
