Abstract: A method, system, and medium are disclosed for managing calendar information associated with multiple users over a network. The calendar information may relate to scheduling, events or tasks, and is shared among users or devices. Flags may be stored in order to share and provide functionality to calendar information, such as generating calendar entries, permitting searches and coordinating calendar entries.

Abstract: A new approach is proposed that contemplates systems and methods to support the operation of a Virtual Media Room or Virtual Meeting Room (VMR), wherein each VMR can accept from a plurality of participants at different geographic locations a variety of video conferencing feeds of audio and video streams from video conference endpoints. The approach provides collaborative viewing of an event through the VMR so that the participants at geographically distributed locations are able to simultaneously participate and share the experience of the event together. An initiating participant of the event sharing is further offered with in-meeting management and control over the content to be shared at the event.

Abstract: A method for automatic censoring of a graphical user interface (GUI) screen includes receiving a censoring trigger by a censoring module; identifying information present in the GUI screen by a object recognition module; comparing the identified information with a set of preferences stored in a censoring preferences module to determine content to be removed from the GUI screen; and removing the determined content from the GUI screen by the censoring module.

Abstract: A system is configured to receive a request to set up a first video conference and another request to set up a second video conference, where the request is received from a client device and where the other request is received from another client device; obtain first information associated with an enterprise with which the client device is associated and second information associated with another, different enterprise with which the other client device is associated; determine whether the first information permits the client device to set up the first video conference and whether the second information permits the other client device to set up the second video conference; establish the first video conference when the first information permits the client device to set up the first video conference; and establish the second video conference when the second information permits the other client device to set up the second video conference.

A user action input selecting a reference point on the editing screen display for a web page being authored is received. A reference area on the editing screen display enclosing the selected reference point is set. The display object closest to the reference point is selected as a reference display artifact from among display artifacts in the reference area. A tag associated with the reference display artifact is selected from among tags associated with the display artifacts. A first rectangle is drawn on the editing screen display artifact. A second, larger rectangle is drawn enclosing the first rectangle. A space between the first and second rectangles represents the selected tag.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for a real-time interface for collaborating between users is described. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving a request to initiate a collaboration on a particular subject. The method may also include selecting a collection of framework widgets based on the particular subject, each framework widget being a web-based component that is updated in real time. In one embodiment, the method may further include embedding the collection of framework widgets in a collaboration interface.

Abstract: An electronic “To-Do” bar is provided in which displayed upcoming tasks, meetings, appointments and the like. The electronic To-Do bar is displayed in a lightweight menu of tasks, meetings and appointments and is displayed persistently in addition to other software functionality or user interfaces displayed on a user's computer display screen according to other software applications or other software functionality in use. A user is presented with an always-visible list of upcoming tasks, meetings and appointments without the need to launch a separate tasks application or calendar application to view upcoming tasks, meetings or appointments.

Abstract: A method a multifunction device with a touch-sensitive display includes: detecting a first user input on a first application icon on the display; in response to detecting the first user input: activating and displaying a first application associated with the first application icon in a first region of the display and displaying a partial view of a second application in a second region of the display without activating the second application; detecting a second user input on the partial view of the second application on the display; in response to detecting the second user input: suspending the first application and activating a full view of the second application on the display; detecting a third user input to deactivate the second application; and, in response to detecting the third user input: deactivating the second application and resuming the first application on the display.

Abstract: A computer implemented method, data processing system, and computer program product for enabling users to view a plurality of instant messaging chat conversations and respond quickly and easily a selected conversation, while minimizing the impact on the users' other activities. Users are also provided with the option of choosing which instant messaging conversations to monitor and which responses from particular people or topics to display. Multiple instant messaging chat conversations are provided to a user via a scrolling chat window, wherein the scrolling chat window allows the user to scroll through and monitor the multiple instant messaging chat conversations. When user input is received for a selected instant messaging chat conversation, the selected instant messaging chat conversation is loaded and displayed into an instant messaging chat window to allow the user to respond to the selected instant messaging chat conversation.

Abstract: An apparatus and method are described herein that provide for visualizing subsets of grouped business objects in an application for display in a user interface. Business objects are grouped into subsets according to a selected business object attribute value. The business objects are grouped and displayed in a three-dimensional view including a plurality of layers, where each layer represents a subset of the business objects. The application is implemented, for example, as a calendar application. The visual representations associated with the business objects in each subset of data are displayed in each of the layers of the three-dimensional view. A user selectably controls which subset of data to view in the user interface.

Abstract: Peer-to-peer media item recommendations are provided by presenting a selected list of media items to a first user to consider for recommendation to a friend, receiving an indication from the first user that one or more of the presented media items are to be recommended to the friend, and presenting the one or more indicated media items to the friend. The presented list comprises media items the friend hasn't rated, and is selected using a media recommendation engine.

Abstract: A method for allowing independent viewing of web conference content may include enumerating a plurality of windows of content of a web conference to allow caching of visible and non-visible portions of each enumerated window by a client computer device of a participant to provide independent viewing of each enumerated window by the participant in the web conference. The method may also include forming a bitmap of visible and non-visible portions of each enumerated window. The method may further include transmitting the bitmap of each enumerated window to the client computer device of the participant in the web conference.

Abstract: Graphical user interfaces (GUIs) support the collaborative generation of life stories by helping the user view the development of the life stories of other users and facilitating interaction with them through these GUIs. A GUI according to a first type helps the user keep track of recent life stories and comments posted by other users of the collaborative system, and a GUI according to a second type helps the user view life stories of any user in a chronological manner.

Abstract: Methods, computer readable media, and apparatuses for enhanced message handling are presented. A first message may be sent to a first identity. Thereafter, a second message may be sent to a second identity. Alternatively, a first message may be received from a first identity, and a second message may be received from a second identity. In either case, in response to determining, based on local address book data, that the first identity and the second identity are both associated with a first person, the first message and the second message may be displayed in a single conversation window. Subsequently sent and/or received messages may be similarly aggregated into the conversation window based on such messages being to and/or from one or more identities of the same person. Additionally, these subsequently aggregated messages may be sent and/or received via different communication services, such as email, SMS, and/or social networking services.

Abstract: Apparatus, systems, and methods may operate to execute a plurality of screen saver program instances to display a plurality of separately visible screen saver images using a single display device at substantially the same time. In some embodiments, some or all of the screen saver images are displayed in a plurality of non-overlapping display compartments. The images may be selectively assigned a dominant color, or color scheme. The compartments may have boundaries that can be selectively revised. Abstract: An improved application sharing system and method are described wherein a display of shared information is constructed such that application artifacts that are of no use to the viewer are not displayed to the viewer. In this way, a greatest possible portion of a viewing area can be used to display document content rather than such artifacts. In an embodiment, the functionality of reducing the display in this manner is engageable and disengageble by a viewing user. In a further embodiment of the invention, the functionality of reducing the display is automatically engaged and disengaged based on actions of a sharing user with respect to the shared information.

Abstract: A system and method for generating a ghost profile is disclosed. The ghost profile allows a user to use certain features in a social network without converting to a social network profile. Specifically, the ghost profiles are unsearchable and comments that originate from a ghost profile user are displayed as partial names. The ghost profile is generated when a member of the social network invites a user to join. In one example, the member is automatically added as a friend to the user's ghost profile.

Selection of a first link corresponding to a respective asset of the displayed assets is detected; in response, one or more related assets associated with the respective asset are displayed. Abstract: A system described herein includes a receiver component that receives an indication that a conversation window for a first messaging contact is desirably collapsed, wherein the conversation window for the first messaging contact corresponds to an instant messaging application that is executable on a computing device. The system can further include a window minimizer component that collapses the conversation window into a contacts window of the instant messaging application, wherein the contacts window depicts a graphical indication of at least the first contact, wherein the graphical indication is highlighted to indicate that a conversation exists with the first messaging contact.

In the present invention, when a user sends a file to another user in a conference, a conference identification of the conference, together with the file, is sent to the file receiving user, so that the file receiving user can get to know the conference associated with the file when receiving the file, thereby enhancing the experience enjoyed by the file receiving user.

According to one embodiment, a computer implemented method comprises accessing a collaborative interface, wherein the collaborative interface comprises persistent shared space, wherein visual representation of the collaborative interface is identical for each client accessing the collaborative interface. In a single action, an object is dragged into the collaborative interface and the object is displayed in real time in the collaborative interface. The object is accessible to other clients in the collaborative interface and the state of the object is continuously synchronized. The object is manipulated in the collaborative interface and other clients accessing the collaborative interface are viewed.

Abstract: A chat user interface for threaded text chat systems. The user interface can include a canvas view in which multiple portions of a threaded text tree for a chat session can be rendered separately and concurrently. The user interface further can include a chat participant view, a chat input view and an outline view of an ongoing chat session. Notably, selections of a threaded text tree rendered in the canvas view can be configured for zooming so that certain parts of the threaded text tree can be viewed more readily than other parts of the threaded text tree. Moreover, as new text entries are provided to any branch of the threaded text tree, visual indicators can be activated in the canvas view to alert an end user to the location of the new text entries. Finally, the canvas view can accommodate both imported external objects, such as graphics or links to Web pages, and also a white board region into which notations can be applied by an end user during the course of a chat session.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for previewing new events in a computing device having a plurality of applications for managing respective events are described. Individual applications are each represented by an application icon on a screen of a graphical user interface for the device. In response to a new event of a one of the applications, the application's icon is visually modified to notify of the new event. A visual modification may be determined in response to the new event, for example, to preview a content of the event. The visual modification may include a count of all new events that remain to be disposed. On a selection of the visually modified icon, additional previewing may be provided. Activation of the application having a visually modified application icon may be configured to automatically initiate the application at the new event.

Abstract: Computer method and apparatus persists portions of group conversations in a virtual environment. A group conversation is formed of group member communications. Indications or illustrations, such as chat bubbles, are displayed to end users to represent the group member communications. The invention system enables a user to persist a portion of the group conversation by selecting respective indicators (e.g., chat bubbles) corresponding to one or more of the group member communications. The processor (persist engine) also enables any user to interact with persisted conversation portions. Interactions supported include moving, arranging, tagging with metadata and saving snapshots of the persisted conversation portions, in the virtual environment.

Abstract: Players input their messages in their video game apparatuses and the messages are once collected at a server apparatus, thereafter they are distributed to all video game apparatuses from the game server apparatus. In a display screen of each video game apparatus, a chat window is displayed in order to display messages exchanged between the players on a game screen including a field and characters of the game. The chat window is sequentially enlarged up to a preset maximum number of lines when a new message is received from the game server apparatus. The chat window is sequentially reduced to the preset minimum number of lines when a predetermined time passes without any reception of new message or when the player performs a specific operation.

Abstract: Method, software, and system for efficiently enabling n-way collaborative work using common software over a network of computers. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, each participant in a collaborative session starts up a common software application, which includes a collaboration component. This collaboration component is used to establish a common session that includes all interested parties. The collaboration component replicates operations performed on any one instance of said application to all other instances participating in the same session, so the effect is as if all members of the session were sharing a single instance of the application on a single computer. In one aspect, the collaboration component also supports broadcast of audio and video over a computer network, to enable session participants to see and/or hear each other, and further includes other features that support collaborative work.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for scanning emails by reducing the amount of decomposition processing that is performed to only the minimum necessary to fully scan the emails. This reduces the server resources needed, which improves server throughput and reduces costs. A method for processing email messages comprises the steps of receiving an email message comprising a plurality of items, scanning the email message with at least one scanner software, determining with each of the at least one scanner softwares what items of the plurality of items the email message is to be decomposed into, decomposing the email message to obtain the items determined by each of the at least one scanner software.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for receiving multimedia from a plurality of endpoints participating in a conference session, including multimedia from an endpoint that was muted during the conference session. A muting state is detected at a particular endpoint during the conference session and the multimedia from the particular endpoint is recorded even though it is not forwarded and rendered to the other endpoints during the conference session. Information associated with the multimedia data for the conference session is stored to indicate the time period during which the muting state was detected at the particular endpoint. Techniques are also provided for granting access at a later time to the stored multimedia data for conference session, including access controls to the muted multimedia.

Abstract: A method includes displaying a user interface of an application on a device's touch-sensitive display. The user interface includes a plurality of regions, including a respective region at a respective hierarchy level. The respective region has two or more child regions at a hierarchy level below the respective hierarchy level. The method includes detecting a first contact at a location that corresponds to the respective region and that does not correspond to any of the two or more child regions. When the application is configured to process the first contact, not in conjunction with the respective region, but in conjunction with at least one child region of the two or more child regions, the method includes identifying a respective child region in accordance with positions of the child regions relative to the location, and processing the first contact in conjunction with the identified respective child region using the application.

Abstract: Methods for simulating icon popout on memory constrained devices are described. In some embodiments, the client device displays a message status icon where the message status icon represents a first message status of the respective message. In response to a user action, the status of the respective action changes and the visual appearance of the message status icon varies such that the displayed message status icon represents a second message status of the respective message, to identify a status change of the respective message. The message status icon comprises a fixed image having a display background with at least one property that can be varied to achieve the changes in the visual appearance of the message status icon.
