  • Publication number: 20140089822
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for interaction management systems. The method commences upon receiving a first incoming communication pertaining to a first task, and launching a first task-centered context user interface being initially populated with a first screen device selected in response to the type of incoming communication (e.g., a phone call icon, etc.). An agent interacts with the client by responding to the incoming communication. Then, the method receives a second incoming communication pertaining to the same first task; and populates the first task-centered context user interface with a second screen device appropriate for the second incoming communication (e.g., a chat UI, etc.). Additional new incoming events are routed to its corresponding task-centered context (or a new task-centered context is created).

Abstract: Methods and devices for selectively presenting a user interface or “desktop” across two devices are provided. More particularly, a unified desktop is presented across a device and a computer system that comprise a unified system. The unified desktop acts as a single user interface that presents data and receives user interaction in a seamless environment that emulates a personal computing environment. To function within the personal computing environment, the unified desktop includes a process for docking and undocking the device with the computer system. The unified desktop presents a new user interface to allow access to functions of the unified desktop.

Abstract: A method and electronic devices to allow a common user interface mode on a first electronic device and a second electronic device are described. In one aspect, the method comprises: receiving first orientation data from an orientation sensor associated with the first electronic device; receiving, at the first electronic device, second orientation data from the second electronic device; determining, from the first orientation data and the second orientation data, if the orientation of the first electronic device and the second electronic device satisfy at least one predetermined orientation criterion; and if the orientation of the first electronic device and the second electronic device satisfy the at least one predetermined orientation criterion, allowing the first electronic device and the second electronic device to enter a common user interface mode.

Abstract: A method and electronic devices to provide a common user interface mode on a first electronic device and a second electronic device are described. The first electronic device and the second electronic device each comprise a camera. In one aspect, the method comprises: capturing a first image on the first electronic device; receiving a second image which was captured on the second electronic device at approximately the same time that the first image was captured; determining a relative orientation of the first electronic device and the second electronic device based on the first image and the second image; and entering a common user interface mode in which a display associated with the first electronic device and a display associated with the second electronic device operate cooperatively and in which the orientation of a common user interface displayed on the displays is determined in accordance with the determined relative orientation.

Abstract: A display control system for a multi-layer display system including at least one multi-layer display unit. A multi-layer display unit includes multiple stacked or overlapped display layers each adapted to render display elements thereon for viewing through the uppermost display layer. The level of difficulty for a user to view an overlapped image differs depending on the colour, brightness or type of images (for example text-on-text) being displayed and also the layer in which the image is being displayed and whether the image is currently active. At least any overlapping portion of display elements from different display layers are adjusted (automatically or by a user) in order to improve the viewing experience for a viewer. Types of adjustment possible include moving the images within their display layer or to an alternative display layer or altering their visual properties (such as colour, brightness, contrast, etc.).

Abstract: Methods and devices for receiving input and presenting a user interface with two screens and an off screen gesture area. The device may have an off screen gesture area that accepts user input outside the display area. The interface inputs received in the off screen gesture are may have special handling and cause different display changes. Further, the device, having two screens, may receive user interface inputs that cross the seam between the two displays. To provide a display that acts like a single display area, the device can predict motions may cross the seam and then interrelate separate inputs on separate screens. The interrelated inputs can cause display changes as if the inputs were received as a single user interaction.

Abstract: Embodiments provide for a handheld device with a unified desktop for integrating the functionality of the handheld device with a larger computer system. When connected to a peripheral display and/or a display of the larger computer system, the handheld device provides a unified desktop displayed across the screen(s) of the handheld device and the peripheral display. The unified desktop unifies the functionality provided by the larger computer system and the handheld functionality, e.g., communication applications (e.g., phone, SMS, MMS). A user can seamlessly interact with applications, e.g., open, move, close, receive notifications, on the unified desktop whether the applications are displayed on the screens of the handheld device, or the peripheral display of the larger computer system.

Abstract: Methods and devices for minimizing and maximizing displayed output associated with applications are provided. More particularly, an application presented as two or more pages in a portrait mode can be minimized to present one of the two or more pages following a minimization operation. The page that continues to be displayed can comprise a primary or preferred page, while the page that is dismissed can comprise a secondary or ancillary page. With respect to a maximization operation received with respect to a page of an application results in the display of an additional page associated with that application. Maximization can include controlling the respective screens on which first and second pages of the maximized application are displayed.
