Abstract: In some implementations, an information tracking device may provide a graphical user interface (GUI) associated with providing contextual assistance to a user. The GUI may include a viewpoint region within a display area of the GUI. The information tracking device may track a content position that is associated with a position of content that is positioned within the viewpoint region. The information tracking device may identify a set of elements that is positioned within the viewpoint region, a set of user interactions associated with the set of elements that is positioned within the viewpoint region, and/or a time period that the content that is positioned within the viewpoint region remains positioned within the viewpoint region. The information tracking device may perform an action related to providing the contextual assistance based on at least one of the set of elements, the set of user interactions, and/or the time period.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention address deficiencies of the art in respect to managing interrupting requests to engage in a collaborative session and provide a novel and non-obvious method, system and computer program product for host state sensing for message interruptions. In one embodiment of the invention, a data processing system configured for host sensing for message interruption can include a messenger disposed is a host computing platform, prioritization logic including program code enabled to assign priorities to incoming messages, and host state sensing logic coupled to the host computing platform. The host state sensing logic can include program code enabled to adjust a threshold value for permitting message interruptions for messages having assigned priorities beyond the threshold value.

Abstract: In the disclosed systems and methods for competitive scene completion, an application displays an initial scene of a first scene completion challenge and displays within the initial scene a plurality of markers. Each of the markers has corresponding predefined designated coordinates and corresponds to a furnishing unit type. The application also displays virtual furnishing units that match the furnishing unit type of a corresponding marker. User selection of virtual furnishing units results in display of a three-dimensional rendition of the selected units at corresponding coordinates within the scene, thereby creating an augmented scene that comprises the initial scene with three-dimensional renditions of selected virtual furnishing units. The augmented scene or user selections of virtual furnishing units is submitted to a remote server and the user is provided with a reward.

Abstract: A system configured to perform an accurate and fast estimation of an object shape from a single input image. The system may process image data representing a first surface of an object using image-to-image translation techniques. A first trained model may generate depth information for the object, such as front distance estimates and back distance estimates. The system may use the depth information to generate an output mesh shaped like the object, such as, in the case of a pliable object a reposable avatar. The system may improve depth estimation by including a loss on surface normals in the first trained model. A second trained model may generate color information to be applied to the output mesh to accurately represent the object. The output mesh may include detailed geometry and appearance of the object, useful for a variety of purposes such as gaming, virtual/augmented reality, virtual shopping, and other implementations.

Abstract: A gaming system including a number of host devices each coupled to one or more gaming machines, wherein content provided by the host device is output on the gaming machine. To output the content provided by the remote host, a host-controlled process that is authenticated by the gaming machine and executed in a secure memory location such that it is isolated from other processes executing on the gaming machine may be utilized. The host-controlled processes may be decoupled from the process used to execute the game of chance played on the gaming machine such that the content output by the host-controlled process doesn't alter the play of game of chance.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes methods and systems directed towards the generation of various in-game reactions based on different types of interruptions that may occur in the real-world. The present invention is able to monitor and detect when the various interruptions in the real-world occur. Based on the type and assigned importance of the interruption, a corresponding in-game reaction can be provided to the user to inform the user of the interruption. Depending on the importance of the real-world interruption, instructions can also be generated for the user device associated with the game. These instructions can allow the user to step away from the game without causing an interruption with other players playing within the same game.

Abstract: An ultrasound measurement method includes: providing a first object and a second object within an ultrasound image displayed on a touch screen; activating the first object and the second object, to be movable to perform a measurement on the ultrasound image; receiving a touch-and-drag input with respect to at least one of the first and second objects; and displacing a corresponding one of the first and second objects on the ultrasound image in correspondence with the received touch-and-drag input.

The application also provides a gesture or touch optimized user interface in the browser. The application determines gesture or touch input and optimizes the user interface according to the type of input.

Abstract: Methods, devices, and computer readable media for control of user interface windows in a virtual reality environment. The method includes displaying a window in a viewable area of a virtual reality environment on a display of a head mountable device (HMD), the viewable area determined based on orientation of the HMD. The method further includes receiving a request to lock a position of the window in the viewable area and locking the position of the window in the viewable area in response to the lock request. The position of the window is fixed in the viewable area relative to the orientation of the HMD, when locked, regardless of the orientation of the HMD.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided to enhance the experience of a user of a computing device, such as a computing device having a plurality of speakers. In the context of a method, content is caused to be presented upon the display. The content is associated with a representation of an audio source. The method also includes determining a location of the representation of the audio source relative to the display. The method further includes preferentially directing audio signals generated by the audio source to one or more of a plurality of speakers that have different respective positions relative to the display. In this regard, the method may preferentially direct the audio signals by preferentially directing audio signals based upon the location of the representation of the audio source relative to the display and also based upon the respective positions of the speakers relative to the display.

Abstract: Techniques for selecting and ordering groups of titles to present as recommendations. In one embodiment, for example, a method performed by one or more computing devices of an online services comprises selecting, for each of a plurality of row positions, a group of titles to fill the row position based at least in part on a relevance score computed for the group of titles. The relevance score is based at least in part on a personalized ranking for a particular user of titles in the groups in titles selected to fill the row positions. The groups of titles selected to fill to the row positions are presented as recommendations to the particular user as a sequence of rows in which each row in the sequence corresponds to one of the selected groups of titles.

Abstract: The invention provides a method of interacting with interactive items in a user interface. A user interface is provided which includes a control region and a display region. A plurality of interactive items are displayed in the display region. The user interface tracks the position and movement of a pointer in the control region, and interprets the movement and/or position of the pointer. Movement along a first predefined axis is interpreted as focus pointing only, movement along a second predefined axis is interpreted as view pointing only. Movement having components along both axes is interpreted as both view pointing and focus pointing, enabling both view pointing and focus pointing to be substantially simultaneously performed.

Abstract: Methods, computer program products, and systems, related to providing financial gadgets to users. In one implementation, a method includes receiving gadgets and receiving a notification that one or more gadgets has been certified. A web page with an interface through which users can select gadgets is generated and provided to a user computer. A user selects a gadget, and the selected gadget is run, including providing the user-specific financial information to the gadget. Content based on the output of the gadget is provided to the user. User-specific financial information can be collected, and modified by the gadget. A notification can be received that a financial institution has authorized one or more of the certified gadgets and the web page can only allow users to select authorized gadgets.

Abstract: A capacitive touch screen terminal and a near field communication method and system thereof are provided. In the method and the system, the near field communication is realized through multiplexing driving electrodes and sensing electrodes of a touch sensor in a capacitive touch screen by a transmitting terminal and a receiving terminal, and a frequency sequence is used as a carrier for data transmission. It may be suitable for the near field communication between two capacitive touch screen terminals having a large size difference; meanwhile, after starting the near field communication, the two capacitive touch screens can accurately distinguish whether a change in the electrostatic field is caused by conductors becoming near, or by the terminal communicating with it, wherein the conductors are hand, and so on. Therefore, the reliability while the data transmission is started is improved and the user experience is optimized.

Abstract: A dental CAD/CAM application generates a 3D model representing a patient's dental anatomy. This model may be a 3D surface. The surface may also be textured with either a monochrome or color image superimposed. The display routine that is used to display the 3D model is enhanced to adjust the contrast in the region of a displayed mouse pointer (or other input device) as a user explores the display image. When this feature is activated and the mouse pointer positioned, preferably the texturing on the 3D model is recomputed in that local area and redisplayed showing greater contrast and detail. Preferably, the contrast is increased from a center to an edge of the area of contrast. Having the texturing of the model being improved and highlighted around the margin is desirable, as it allows the user to see more easily where the margin is located.

Abstract: In many computing scenarios, a computing environment of a device may present applications through various presentation components, such as displays, speakers, and headphones. However, navigating among the applications currently presented within the computing environment may be difficult for the user; e.g., for a device presenting many applications on many displays that share an application stack, the application that the user wishes to select may be buried deep within the shared application stack. In accordance with the techniques presented herein, the device may generate an application presentation history for each presentation component, indicating applications that have previously been presented through the presentation component.

Abstract: A method and device for controlling generation an alarm in a mobile terminal is provided. The method comprises: checking whether a request to operate a microphone has been made by an application intended by a user that initiates an audio processing function when a request to operate the microphone is received; generating an alarm indicating an abnormal microphone operation if the request is determined not to be from an intended application; and turning off the microphone in response to the indication of the abnormal microphone operation.

Abstract: Surfacing visual representations of universal applications is described. In one or more implementations, visual representations of universal applications purchased or installed on other devices associated with a user account are surfaced in an application launcher interface on a current computing device. The visual representations are selectable (e.g., with a single click or tap) to install the universal application on the current computing device. This enables the user to quickly and easily install universal applications already purchased on other devices onto a current device without having to perform any additional action, such as navigating away from the application launcher interface to enter payment information. In one or more implementations, the visual representations of the universal applications are surfaced under a “recently added” section and/or an “on other devices” section of the application launcher to enable the universal applications to be easily located by the user.

Abstract: A device implements a method for estimating the application force of a touching object onto a touch surface in an FTIR-based projection-type touch-sensing apparatus. The apparatus generates projection signals representing radiation that has propagated on a plurality of propagation paths by total internal reflection (TIR) inside a transmissive panel beneath a touch surface of the transmissive panel such that a touching object on the touch surface causes attenuation (frustration) of at least one of the projection signals. The device generates a time series of force values, which represent the application force, based on a time series of magnitude values, which represent a magnitude of a peak in two-dimensional interaction patterns generated by image reconstruction processing of the projection signals, the peak corresponding to the touching object on the touch surface. The force estimation may involve one or more corrections.

Abstract: An “Interactive Word Lattice” provides a user interface for interacting with and selecting user-modifiable paths through a lattice-based representation of alternative suggested text segments in response to a user's text segment input, such as phrases, sentences, paragraphs, entire documents, etc. More specifically, the user input is provided to a trained paraphrase generation model that returns a plurality of alternative text segments having the same or similar meaning as the original user input. An interactive graphical lattice-based representation of the alternative text segments is then presented to the user. One or more words of each alternative text segment represents a “node” of the lattice, while each connection between nodes represents a lattice “edge. Both nodes and edges are user modifiable. Each possible path through the lattice corresponds to a different alternative text segment. Users select a path through the lattice to select an alternative text to the original input.

In one embodiment, the triggering event is shaking the target application window.

In one embodiment of the invention, a method for graphically associating a window with a task bar entry in a windowing operating system GUI can be provided. The method can include rendering multiple windows in a z-space sequence in a desktop of the windowing operating system graphical user interface and detecting a proximity event for an entry in a task bar for the windowing operating system graphical user interface. In response to detecting the proximity event, a corresponding one of the windows in the desktop can be highlighted without re-ordering the z-space sequence.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed whereby the context of user activity can be used to tailor the ambient information system. The method and apparatus use both short-term context such as recent activity and long-term context such as historical patterns to highlight specific content on channels or widgets that are likely to be of most immediate interest to the user. This contextual information provided by the framework can also be used to make intelligent decisions about how to tailor the user experience after a user has interacted with the item in question. Additionally, context information accumulated on one device such as a mobile phone can be broadcasted to other devices to influence the ambient information display application on a second device such as a desktop based on enabling remote access to the local context repository.

In various embodiments, when the user rolls a selection cursor over an object/feature an outline of the object/feature is displayed. Selection of an object/feature may cause display of metadata associated with that object/feature. The interactive data object map system may automatically generate feature/object lists and/or histograms based on selections made by the user. The user may perform geosearches, generate heatmaps, and/or perform keyword searches, among other actions.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for providing an improved three-dimensional graphical user interface.
