Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed that facilitate launching separate editing applications from within an electronic content creation application. A content creation application can provide one or more launch editing features for launching separate editing applications to edit the objects or object parts within content that is being created. Such launch editing can involve the content creation application analyzing one or more selected objects and/or object parts and identifying which portions should be sent to a separate editing application. The separate editing application modifies the portions and returns modified portions to the content creation application where the modified portions are incorporated or merged into the electronic content being created.

Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a map display device and a map display method that displays a plurality of map drawing pictures. The device and the method therefor can facilitate comprehension of relevance between drawing objects included respectively in the map drawing pictures.

The computer-implemented method further creates a group of tabs in the widget properties dialog using the received information, wherein the group of tabs contains a general tab and a group of content tabs, wherein each content tab is specific to an instance of content provider and content type.

The depth of the first displayed object is adjusted as a function of the sensed pressure. The depth of the displayed objects are determined at their detected intersection. The determined depths of the displayed objects are compared. Based on a result of comparing the determined depths, data is stored indicating that one of the displayed objects is overlapping the other. In addition, the displayed objects are displayed such that the overlapping displayed object is displayed closer to a foreground of the pressure-sensitive touch-screen display device than the other displayed object.

Abstract: Various embodiments related to assigning z-order to a plurality of user interface elements are disclosed. One disclosed embodiment provides a method of assigning a z-ordering to a user interface element displayed on a multi-user interactive display based upon an interaction state of the user interface element, the interaction state being dependent upon how a user interacts with the user interface element. The method comprises detecting a change in the interaction state of the user interface element. If the change is an initiation of a movement of the user interface element on the display, the user interface element is moved to a first predetermined position within the z-ordering. If the change is an initiation of a user interaction with content contained within the user interface element, the user interface element is moved to a second predetermined position within the z-ordering.

Abstract: Various embodiments of systems and methods for a universal collaboration adapter for web editors are described herein. In one aspect, the method executed by one or more computers in a network of computers includes analyzing a document object model (DOM) representing a document in a tree structure and identifying an event or manipulation associated with the DOM. Typically, the DOM manipulations correspond to the document manipulations. An operation corresponding to the identified event is selected. The operation is sent to a generic collaboration engine for transmission to a server. The server transmits the operation to various participants for collaborative editing. The identification of the DOM manipulations (instead of editor-specific manipulations) provides a universal collaboration adapter for various editors. Further, recording or identifying local DOM manipulations and replaying remote DOM manipulations enable transforming a single-user web editor into the multi-user or collaborative web editor.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a computer readable medium storing a media editing application for creating multimedia presentations. The application includes a graphical user interface (GUI). The GUI includes a composite display area for displaying a portion of a timeline to which multimedia clips are assigned to create a composite media presentation. The timeline is divided into user-defined segments. The GUI includes an outline window for displaying a list of selectable items representing the user-defined segments, the selectable items for use in applying various operations to the user-modifiable segments. In some embodiments, the various operations include operations to insert a new segment into the timeline, to merge at least two segments into one segment, to hide a particular segment from view, to focus on a particular segment or group of segments in the composite display area, as well as other operations.

Abstract: A user input at a location on a user interface screen that intersects or otherwise touches a grouping of more than one overlapping user interface element can enable selection of a specific one of the overlapping user interface elements as the user interface elements in the grouping are made active in sequence (e.g. in a loop), which can be stopped by a second user input when the desired user interface element is currently active in the sequence. Abstract: In regards to the conventional technology for performing operational inputs by referring a GUI and by means of a touch sensor, there exists a problem in which the relationship of correspondence between on-screen locations of selection items on a GUI and touchpad locations cannot be accurately grasped. Moreover, cases in which a touch panel equipped with an information display function instead of a touch sensor is used cause problems in that the cost thereof or power consumed thereby can be relatively high, etc. In order to solve the problems described as above, the present invention provides a remote control that selects an icon on a GUI as a target of operation using a touch sensor, and which is characterized by a configuration that allows a user to easily identify the relationship of correspondence by brightening of a touch sensor on a touchpad corresponding to icon arrangement on a GUI.

Display data of windows required to be displayed on the display terminal are mapped onto at least one logical screen by storing data in a video memory. Each of the windows is correlated with a set of window registers, and the location coordinates of the window and the identification of the corresponding logical screen are stored into the window register set when displaying the windows, the window register set having the highest priority level are found out, based on the location coordinates of the current scanning pixel, as the selected window register. The display data corresponding to the current pixel are read out from the logical screen corresponding to the selected window register and output to the display terminal.

When the processor determines the first touch signal existing at the overlap of the GUIs and the second touch signal, switches the top GUI to another GUI based on the relative positions between the first and the second touch signals or the direction in which the second touch signal is moving.

Abstract: In a content display apparatus in which a plurality of contents are displayed according to the order of metadata added to each content, the plurality of contents are arranged hierarchically by metadata and a group of metadata, and an array of plurality of contents arranged hierarchically is formed. Icons representing contents are displayed on a display device according to the order of the array of plurality of contents formed, and when a command for scroll is made for the displayed icons, icons in the hierarchy level to which the icons belong are scroll displayed. Abstract: Methods and apparatus for allowing a mobile device user to forward one or more messages which are received on the user's mobile device, to a television or a set top box are described. The user is able to view the forwarded messages on the television and can also reply to such received messages from the television. The methods and apparatus may be implemented using a message forwarding application installed on a user's cell phone and a server responsible for forwarding messages and replies between the user's Internet capable TV or set top box and mobile telephone. To the party sending a message, replies appear to have originated from the user's cell phone making the use of the service transparent to individuals other than the user to which the message is sent. Message received and sent logs are maintained in the user's phone so the message record is complete.

Abstract: A method and system for rendering electronic document objects is provided in which a style matrix holds potential attribute values, and attribute references are used to address values in the style matrix. A mix of attribute references and actual attribute values may be used to make some attributes theme- and application-specific, and others theme- and application-independent. Further, a method for rendering a gallery of potential styles is provided. Additionally, a method for associating a style matrix with an electronic document application is provided. Finally, a computer-readable medium for storing a computer-interpretable data structure that identifies a matrix of style attribute types and style attribute values is provided.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus enable a mobile device to suggest available applications or features in which a user may be interested to the user based upon the user's past and current mobile device usage patterns. The mobile device may monitor the specific application/features used and their frequency of use. The mobile device may determine other available applications/features that the user may be interested in using based upon the frequency of use of applications or features and information which indicates a likelihood of user interest in one application or feature based upon usage of another application or feature. Applications or features determined to be potentially of interest to the user may be presented to the user in the form of suggestions to be added to the user interface menu so that the user can elect to accept or rejection the suggestion to modify the menu.

Abstract: The subject application is directed to a system and method for controlling a document processing device via a remote device interface. Display data is generated corresponding to the control of the document processing device, following which instructions are received from a user corresponding to one or more document processing operations. An image is then generated on a display integrated in the document processing device based on the display data and the received instructions. The display data is then communicated, via an established data connection, to an associated data processing device having both a user data input and a user display. Control instructions for the document processing device are then received from the associated data processing device so as to allow for user control of a document processing operation and a document processing operation is commenced based on instructions received from the data processing device.

Abstract: Content items that have the same metadata are grouped together as content groups out of content items to which metadata of different categories has been added, and a content group having a previously selected category and metadata thereof is taken as a criterion. The arrangement of the content groups that have been grouped together is determined based on the relevance between the metadata of another category in the content group serving as the criterion and the metadata of the other category in the content groups to be arranged. The determined arrangement of the content groups is displayed on a display apparatus.

The method defines a contiguous section in the ordered list by identifying the first and last primitive elements of the contiguous selection. The first primitive element is identified as the primitive element that is closest in reading flow to a start selection point on the page, while the last primitive element is identified as the primitive element that is closest in reading flow to an end selection point on the page.

Abstract: A group is defined by a user to include two or more different applications executed on a computing device. The group is associated with one foreground window and one or more background windows on a screen of the computing device. Images of one application selected as a foreground application is displayed in the foreground window. The applications not selected as the foreground application displays images in the background windows. The foreground window is overlaid on the top of the windows of other applications, thereby partially or totally occluding the windows of other applications in the same group. The foreground application changes with elapse of time or upon detection of an event. Therefore, the same foreground window display images for different applications in the group at different times. The number of windows cluttering a screen of the application can be reduced because the user can interact with different applications in the group using the same foreground window.

Abstract: A system and method for an event driven virtual workspace are described. According to one example method, a trader can define a plurality of windows to be associated with a virtual workspace. Also, the trader could define one or more triggering events, the combination of which may be used to activate the virtual workspace. In such an embodiment, when the system detects the one or more triggers, the system can attempt to activate the virtual workspace. According to the example method, the trader may place a number of limiting conditions before any states of the currently displayed windows are modified such that the triggered virtual workspace could be displayed. If no limiting conditions are detected, the system can display the triggered virtual workspace.

Abstract: In some implementations, windows can be displayed based on a global z-order. The global z-order can be maintained for all open windows. The global z-order can include windows that are not currently displayed. The global z-order can define a display order of windows across multiple workspaces. The computer arranges the strings in a radial pattern from a reference point determined within the graphic, determines whether overlapping strings are present, and moves the reference point in a direction to separate from the overlapping strings when the computer determines that the overlapping strings are present.

Abstract: Authorized priority alerts are permitted to “pop up” on top of a running screensaver in a computer display without suspending operation of the screensaver. A windows manager monitors for priority alerts from applications. If the screensaver is active in the display, the windows manager determines if the alert issuing application and alert type are permitted to breakthrough the screensaver. If so, an alert notification window identifying the content of the alert is generated and displayed in z-order on top of the screensaver, without interrupting the operation of the screensaver displayed underneath. Some notification windows implement security features by displaying only a portion of the content of the corresponding alert or completely obscuring the content of the alert and only notifying of the presence of the alert. An additional security feature requires the user to enter a password in the notification window before the content or type of alert is displayed.
