Abstract: A special paste feature presents a variety of options to a user for choosing the appearance of the pasted object or objects. When the user selects to specially paste the object, an interface is presented for the user to select from a variety of styles and format codes or predefined groups thereof to keep in the pasted object. Once the user selects the level of structure and formatting that he or she desires to import into the target document, the object will be copied into the target document or application using only the structure and formatting selected to remain by the user.

Abstract: A web browser magnifies the content of the whole page in memory and displays the relevant portion in a magnifier with hyperlinks. The web browser then maps the magnified display to the original document. Thus, manipulation of the mouse in the magnified display may result in an action with respect to the original document. The user may then select a link for navigation within the magnified display. Alternatively, the web browser may analyze the original web page and construct magnifier contents on the basis of either the document object model, extensible markup language (XML), or hypertext markup language (HTML) representation of the magnified portion.

Abstract: A touch panel device displays a nautical chart and symbols indicating waypoints arranged on the nautical chart. The touch panel device detects touch operations at two or more positions on the display screen and touched positions thereof. The touch panel device creates an area on the display screen based on the two or more detected touched positions, specifies one or more of the symbols located within the created area, and performs cut processing and the like on the one or more of the symbols.

Abstract: A data control device includes: an execution unit that executes, as an active runtime environment, one of a plurality of runtime environments each provided with an individual clipboard used for data reading and writing; a switching unit that switches the active runtime environment; a decision unit that, when the active runtime environment is switched by the switching unit, decides whether an item of data written to a clipboard of a runtime environment that is active before the switching should be copied to a clipboard of a runtime environment that will become active after the switching, by referring to an attribute of at least one of the runtime environment that is active before the switching and the runtime environment that will become active after the switching; and a management unit that manages copying of the item of data between the clipboards based on the decision made by the decision unit.

Abstract: A method of pasting data from a source application to a destination application, where the source and destination applications are not the same; the method comprising the steps of: identifying whether the data is of text or graphics data type and selecting a text input handler if a text data type is identified and a graphics input handler if a graphics data type is identified; converting the data using the text or graphics input handler to a standard format for pasting based on the identified data type; determining semantics of the data in the standard format for pasting and a location of the user in the destination application, to which the data is to be pasted; determining which portions of the data are to be pasted to which areas of the determined location in the destination application, depending on the determined semantics of the data and the location of the user in the destination application; and pasting the data to the respective areas of the destination application.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are described for manipulating objects in a user interface. The user interface includes a first interface object operable to be selected and moved within the user interface. In response to selection and movement of the first interface object in the user interface, at least one additional interface object is presented in the user interface in proximity of the first interface object. Each additional interface object represents a drop target with which the first interface object may be associated.

Abstract: An apparatus, method and computer program are provided. The method comprises: controlling a touch sensitive display, while a user digit is detected hovering a distance from the touch sensitive display, to display a transient indication of first content for pasting, wherein if the user subsequently moves the user digit away from the touch sensitive display such that the user digit is no longer detected, the transient indication of the first content for pasting is removed from display on the touch sensitive display.

Abstract: A copy request is received that individually identifies an information element associated with a first unopened object to copy from the first unopened object. The individually identified information element is copied from the first unopened object. The information element copied from the first unopened object is stored to a memory.

Abstract: A clip board system provides a visual affordance for clipped information that is stored on a clip board. A direct manipulation method is used to place items on, and retrieve items from, the clip board. The clip board can also be implemented on a network so that content that is saved on the clip board can easily be accessed by a user using a plurality of different applications or devices.

Abstract: An improved copy and paste experience includes capturing information about open applications including a screenshot of each of the open applications shown in a viewable area of the open applications; in response to receiving a copy command while the user is interacting with a first application, presenting the screenshots of the other open applications to the user for selection; in response to the user selecting one of the screenshots corresponding to a second application, displaying visual content segments from the second application; in response to receiving a user selection of two or more of the visual content segments, copying the selected visual content segments; and inserting the selected visual content segments into the first application such that original spatial relations between the visual content segments from the second application are maintained when the visual content segments are inserted into the first application.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for extracting and distributing text of mixed types from displayed graphical data from a display of an electronic device are disclosed. The text types can include rendered text and text represented in rendered images. Displayed graphical data can be captured from data being displayed by an application on a display device. Text data can be extracted from the captured graphical data as text data at the rendering tree level, or by an optical character recognition process. In response to the extracted text data, a text selection tool with visual representations of selectable text can be applied to the displayed text data. Using the text selection tool, a user can select a subset of the text. In response to the user selection, one or more other applications can be determined and the selected text can be passed to at least one of the other applications for execution.

Abstract: A full-featured cross-browser hybrid rich text editor for editing webpage content. The hybrid editor is integrated with a user interface (e.g., toolbar, menu bar), and provides the appropriate context-sensitive behavior when users interact with the user interface and the interface contents. The hybrid editor responds immediately to basic commands (e.g., cursor movements, inserts, selections, repeated key presses, etc.), and employs behaviors and effects that are more aligned with familiar editor experiences, such as in a word processor. The editor architecture leverages the strengths of both the current browser content editability and JavaScript, limits the browser-based content editing to the insertion pointer, paste, processes content as the content is entered or when cursor is moved around, and implements an abstraction layer that maps browser-specific functions independent of the browser to the underlying support of the hybrid editor.

Abstract: Content is transferred from one computer resource to another computer resource by receiving designating a first insertion point, enabling automatic paste operation, switching to a user interface to a source computer resource, receiving a user selection of content from said source user interface, and automatically copying the selected content to a transfer buffer and to the designated insertion point(s) in the destination computer resource. Additional content may be copied to the destination computer resource by simply selecting additional content in the same source computer resource or other computer resources without need to toggle back to the destination user interface between every copy and paste operation. Prior to insertion in the destination computer resource, compatibility of the content is checked, and incompatible elements are handled according to user configured rules, such as converting the elements, converting the elements, or isolating the elements.

Abstract: In one or more embodiments, a Web browser is configured to enable a user to open a new tab and, responsively, display one or more activities in a new tab page for the user. The user can then select, from the new tab page, one or more activities to be performed. In at least some embodiments, a user can select an object in a first tab page, open a new tab page, and select an activity on the new tab page that is to be performed relative to the selected object.

Abstract: One exemplary embodiment involves a computer-implemented method that comprises rendering, by a processor, an interface comprising one or more containers, each container comprising content. The embodiment involves receiving, via a touch display, a continuous first input, the first input being received for a threshold amount of time at a location corresponding to a first container depicted on the interface. The embodiment then involves copying the first container to create a duplicate container. Additionally, the embodiment involves receiving a second input at a second location on interface and responsive to receipt of the second input, rendering the duplicate container in the interface at the second location.

Abstract: A copy and paste operation allows selection from a copy source display area to be copied from a display screen of a display unit and pasted to a paste destination display area without losing the original appearance and style. A processing unit determines from data generated on the style of a copy source and data on the paste destination style, whether the paste destination style would change the copy source style. If it is determined that the paste destination style would change the copy source style, the copy source style is processed into the paste destination style in order to make the paste destination style consistent with the copy source style. The paste destination display area then displays the copy source display area pasted therein with the copy source style.

Abstract: A graphical user interface (GUI) displayed at a user interface device includes a character string that includes a substring. The computing device detects a movement of an input object from a first location on the user interface device to a second location on the user interface device. The first location corresponds to a second handle element and the second location corresponds to a particular position in the character string that is not at a beginning or end of the substring. In response, the computing device modifies the GUI such that the second handle element is located at the second location. The computing device also determines whether to select all characters of the substring. All characters of each substring completely displayed between a first handle element and the second handle element are also selected. The selected characters are visually differentiated from the non-selected characters.

Abstract: Systems, apparatus, methods and computer program products are described for automatically resizing or repositioning an area of interest, identifying a portion of a document for display, so that the area of interest aligns with one or more edges of a structural element in the document. A method is provided that includes receiving input to resize (or reposition) an area of interest associated with a clipping of content. The clipping displays a portion of a document corresponding to the area of interest. The document has a plurality of structural elements. A boundary associated with a structural element in the document is determined. The area of interest is automatically resized (or repositioned) based on the boundary.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for copy-and-paste of a GUI object are provided. The method includes sensing a multi-touch gesture event and copying at least one GUI object. The multi-touch gesture event includes either a multi-tap and hold gesture event or a multi-tap gesture event. An electronic device for copy and paste of a GUI object comprises a touch screen, at least one or more processors, a memory, and at least one or more modules, each of the one or more modules being stored in the memory and being configured to be executed by the one or more processors, wherein the at least one or more modules is configured to sense a multi-touch gesture event on the touch screen and to copy at least one GUI object.

Abstract: A network system includes a reconfigurable network and a network management system. The network management system can represent the network in the form of a network image. Network image objects, corresponding to network objects, can be selected as copy sources and paste targets. A copy-and-paste operation modifies the network image to indicate a potential modification of the actual network in which the configuration of the network object corresponding to the selected copy source object is applied to the network object corresponding to the selected image object. In addition, the copy-and-paste operation can automatically represent a common connection of a source object input and a target object input to a common data source. Furthermore, the copy-and-paste operation can automatically connect outputs of source and target objects to a comparison function so that the implementation of the copy-and-paste operation on the actual network can be validated.

Abstract: A display device of present invention includes an operation input portion from which operation information is input by a user, a selection portion that selects a predetermined region on a display screen based on the operation information, and a scroll portion that scrolls the display screen in a state where a position of the selected predetermined region is held at a predetermined position.

Abstract: An improved interactive user interface for presenting functionalities of an application is provided. An application functionality applied to a data element range may be represented by a selectable preview element that provides a preview of the application functionality applied to the data element range. Upon selection of a preview element, one or more drop zones may be displayed. The preview element may be dragged to a drop zone and may animate into a visualization of the application functionality applied to the data element. The type of visualization that is displayed may be dependent on the drop zone to which the preview element is dragged. After a preview element is dropped into a drop zone, the functionality may be applied to the data element range and be displayed. The interactive data visualizations may encourage a user to explore features of an application.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for providing a clipboard function in a mobile device. The method includes: detecting whether a clipboard mode entry event for entering a clipboard mode has occurred; searching for at least one object capable of being clipped on a touch screen displaying a screen of the mobile device, when the clipboard mode entry event has occurred; and displaying at least one clip identifier matched with the at least one found object on the touch screen of the mobile device.

Abstract: Associating an object with a relevant data source is disclosed. In some embodiments, an object pasted into a destination document is associated with a data source included in the destination document. In various embodiments, the data source associated with the object may comprise a data source concurrently pasted with the object into the destination document, a data source already existing in the destination document prior to the object being pasted into the destination document, or a data source generated in the destination document using data extracted from the pasted object.

Abstract: Enhanced copying and pasting between applications includes capturing information about open applications including a screenshot of each of the open applications shown in a viewable area of the open applications; in response to receiving a copy command while the user is interacting with a first application, presenting the screenshots of the other open applications to the user for selection; in response to the user selecting one of the screenshots corresponding to a second application, displaying visual content segments from the second application; in response to receiving a user selection of two or more of the visual content segments, copying the selected visual content segments; and inserting the selected visual content segments into the first application such that original spatial relations between the visual content segments from the second application are maintained when the visual content segments are inserted into the first application.

Abstract: Performing incremental runtime composition. A method includes a computing system receiving a user input gesture modifying a diagram displayed on a diagram surface. The diagram includes a first element, a second element, and a plurality of elements connected to the second element laid out in a particular layout pattern with respect to the second element. The method further includes interpreting the user input gesture to be a gesture creating a graph by connecting the first element to the second element of the diagram. The method further includes performing an auto layout of the diagram by automatically, and without user intervention, repositioning the second element with respect to the first element but without substantially repositioning the plurality of elements with respect to the second element by moving the second element and the plurality of elements as an atomic unit.

Abstract: A workflow scheduler is provided in which highly correlated processes are scheduled so as to be continuously executed. The workflow scheduler analyzes an input print order, divides the print order into a plurality of processes to carry out the print order, arranges a schedule of the plurality of processes divided, groups a set of processes together from the plurality of processes into which the print order is divided according to grouping attributes of the plurality of processes, the set of processes being associated with each other by the grouping attributes, outputs the plurality of processes whose schedule is arranged by the schedule arranging unit in a recognizable manner, and arranges the schedule of the plurality of processes such that the set of processes is capable of being executed continuously.

Abstract: A menu and application utilizing the menu is provided that provides a sub-list of outcomes associated with a list of options directly in the menu to avoid multiple sub-menus and/or navigation through multiple screens. The menu is particularly beneficial with mobile devices where screen area is at a premium and navigation through multiple screens can be confusing. The outcomes may be folders in which an application stored on the mobile device can be moved, and/or a list of applications that can be unhidden. When moving an application into a folder, a moving mode feature is preferably initiated that enables the user to move the application within the selected folder without having to choose such an option.

Abstract: An image processing system is disclosed. A first window and a second window are displayed on a display. The system detects a drag-and-drop on a portion of an image displayed in a first window. The system presents a transparent window which overlays the first window and the second window and display the bitmap of the image at a first position in the transparent window. The bitmap then moves from the first position to a second position in the transparent window. The system displays the bitmap of the image at the second position in the second window.

Abstract: Apparatus and articles of manufacture are provided for assisting in the organization of information accessed through a web browser. At least one item of information accessed through the web browser is captured and visually represented in a defined organizational area of a display. A relevance index is calculated for each item of information that is visually represented to a current web-browsing behavior. The relevance index is conveyed for each item of information to the current web-browsing behavior to a user of the web browser.

Abstract: A data pasting method and apparatus. The method determines attributes of a source object that is data to be pasted. The attributes of each candidate paste target is obtained among a plurality of candidate paste targets, the attributes of the candidate paste targets contrain an editable component which determines a matching relationship between each of the candidate paste targets and the source object based on the attributes of the source object and the attributes of the editable component. The method provides recommendation for pasting the source object based on the matching relationship. By adopting the technical solution according to the present application, the efficiency of data pasting operation can be improved. Also provided is an apparatus for implementing the above data pasting method.

In addition, the touch panel portion accepts an input of designating, as a designated object, the object displayed at one or both of the positions of the two touched points, and accepts the first operation as an input of giving an instruction to cut or copy the designated object.

Abstract: An electronic pasting method for pasting electronic data in consideration of printed and written data, including updating pasted data when electronic data is updated after it is pasted. The electronic pasting method uses a detecting unit and a paste information updating unit. The detecting unit detects a paste stroke made over two print sheets filled to denote a user's pasting action with which part or whole of a printed matter of electronic document information is pasted on printed matter, then detects the pasting action from a set of paste strokes, thereby obtaining a paste-from document, a paste-to document, and a paste position according to the pasting action detected by the detecting unit. The paste information updating unit updates the e-document, the printed matter information, and the written information according to the above paste information.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method of sharing data between computer applications is discussed. The method includes receiving, at an application server sub-system of a hosted computer server system and from a first computing device that is remote from the hosted computer server system, commands interacting with an electronic document served by the application server sub-system, and receiving at the hosted computer server system a command to copy content from the electronic document to an electronic clipboard. The method also includes storing, at a clipboard server sub-system of the hosted computer server system, that is separate from the application server sub-system, data that represents the content, receiving a request for the stored data that represents the content, and delivering, from the clipboard server sub-system to a second computing device, the data that represents the content.

Abstract: A touch enabled device includes a touch enabled graphical user interface that displays a canvas region and a drop zone region. The canvas region displays an object. The drop zone region displays an area that is distinct from the canvas region. Further, the touch enabled device includes a processor that positions the object within the drop zone upon receiving a request to move the object from the canvas to the drop zone and a batch processing command that the processor performs on the drop zone region such that the batch processing command is performed on the object within the drop zone and any other objects within the drop zone region.

Abstract: In some embodiments, a portable multifunction device with a touch screen display concurrently displays on the touch screen display a plurality of predefined regions, the predefined regions including: a source region, a command region, and a destination region. In response to detecting a first command association input by a user on the touch screen display, the device associates a first icon from the source region with a first directory management command icon in the command region. In response to detecting a first command performance input that includes selecting a first folder icon in the destination region, the device performs a directory management operation on a folder or file that corresponds to the first icon. The directory management operation is in accordance with the first directory management command icon and the selected first folder in the destination region.

Abstract: An illustrative implementation is described for copying an identified portion of source content along with style information associated with the portion. The implementation allows the identified portion to be pasted into target content. By virtue of the extraction and retention of style information, the identified portion that is pasted into the target content visually resembles the identified portion as it appears in the source content. The implementation can identify relevant style information to be preserved based on a contextual analysis of style information applied to the source content. In one illustrative case, some of the style information may be revealed by parts of the content that are not directly demarcated by the identified portion.

Abstract: Animation for the cut and paste of content in an electronic document may be provided. A user interface may be displayed on a computer which includes a content surface for editing the content. The computer may then cut the content from a first location in response to a received request. The computer may then paste the content to a second location on the content surface in response to a received request. The pasting of the content from the first location to the second location may be displayed as a gradual transition of the content on the content surface.

Abstract: Systems and methods of arranging a plurality of icons on a touch sensitive display device of a computing device include receiving contact information from the touch sensitive display device indicating a first and a second one of the plurality of icons have been moved until they touch each other on the touch sensitive display device. A new folder is automatically created responsive to the received contact information indicating the first and second icons have been moved until they touch. The new folder includes stored resources of the computing device associated with the first and the second icons. The first and second icons are replaced on the touch sensitive display device with a new icon associated with the new folder.
