Abstract: In accordance with some embodiments, a computer-implemented method is performed at a portable multifunction device with a touch screen display. The computer-implemented method includes: displaying a home menu comprising a plurality of application launch icons; detecting activation of any respective application launch icon; and, in response to detecting the activation, displaying a first animation of a transition from display of the home menu to display of an application that corresponds to the activated application launch icon. The first animation comprises expanding an image of the application.

Abstract: Technologies are disclosed for providing visual feedback during touch-based operations on user interface (“UI”) elements. Through implementations of the disclosed technologies, visual feedback can be provided to users during certain touch-based operations on UI elements presented by virtual reality (“VR”) devices. The visual feedback can provide confirmation to users that certain operations on UI elements were performed successfully. The visual feedback provided by the disclosed technologies can make it easier for users to select a UI element, to understand that actions taken to select a UI element were successful, and to successfully perform operations on UI elements once they have been selected. These benefits can reduce the number of times users need to attempt certain operations on UI elements. This, in turn, can reduce the utilization of computing resources, such as memory and processor cycles, by devices implementing the disclosed technologies.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a display method. The display method includes obtaining a selection operation of a user's face; obtaining image data of a local area of the user's face corresponding to the selection operation; determining a target position at a display area for displaying the image data of the local area; and displaying the image data of the local area at the target position. When the user looks at the target position relative to other positions at the display area, the local area of the user's face is close to a main optical axis of a photographing unit.

Abstract: A method is disclosed. The method includes tracking a plurality of pages visited during a browsing session, and receiving a first input to access a previously visited page of the plurality of pages visited during the browsing session. The method further includes identifying a most recently visited anchor page based on the plurality of pages visited in chronological order, and presenting the most recently visited anchor page in response to the first input to access the previously visited page. The method also includes receiving a second input to access another previously visited page during the browsing session, and identifying another page that is second most recently visited anchor page based on the plurality of pages visited in the chronological order. The method also includes presenting the second most recently visited anchor page in response to the second input to access the other previously visited page.

Abstract: One or more embodiments of a document organization system quickly and conveniently provide digital documents to a user on a client device based on a physical object. In particular, the document organization system can receive an image of a physical document and an identifier from a first client device, identify digital documents that match the physical document, and provide the matching digital documents to a second client device, which displays the identifier. In another embodiment, the document organization system allows a user to bind digital documents to a physical object and later recall the digital documents using the physical object. In addition, the document organization system can store and recall the layout arrangement of digital documents on a client device when binding and recalling the digital documents to the physical object.

Abstract: A method for visualizing and managing entities and connections between entities based on a graphical user interface (GUI) node editor includes constructing an entity datablock, wherein the entity datablock is a data structure describing an entity and comprises entity descriptive information, an entity category, an entity name, entity relationships, and an entity identifier. The method includes establishing the entity relationships as bi-directional relationships, wherein the bi-directional relationships link two disparate entities. The method further includes representing the entity datablock as a node and the bi-directional relationships as lines connecting two nodes, wherein the node comprises at least one of the entity descriptive information, the entity category, or the entity name.

Abstract: Computer-implemented design tool functions are described herein for automatically performing edits across different portions of one or more design layouts. According to an example, a method includes causing a display device to display a design interface used to edit a design layout, which includes at least a first frame and a second frame. The method includes receiving first input to initiate a multi-edit mode in the design interface and receiving second input to perform a first operation to edit a first node in the first frame. The method further includes identifying, based at least in part on the second input, a second node in the second frame and corresponding to the first node in the first frame. In this example, the method includes performing, based at least in part on the second input, the first operation to edit the first node in the first frame and a second operation to edit the second node in the second frame.

Abstract: In accordance with some implementations, a method is performed at an electronic device including one or more processors, a non-transitory memory, a positional sensor, a rendering system, and a display. The method includes while displaying, on the display, first textual content according to an initial viewing angle, determining an expected viewing angle based on the initial viewing angle and positional data from the positional sensor. The techniques may include processing at least one statement indication of the conversation to determine at least one statement that is a candidate highlight of the conversation. The techniques may further include generating the conversation summary including providing the actual highlight as at least a portion of the conversation summary.

The audio output may be generated based on the text embedding and the audio embedding. The video summary device may generate an image embedding based on video data of a target user. The image embedding may include information regarding images of facial movements of the target user. A first user taste profile is determined and a user taste profile is determined for each of a plurality of social connections. A similarity score is calculated between the first user taste profile and the user taste profile of each social connection. Media content items consumed by social connections with the highest similarity score are selected and placed in a playlist for the first user.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for displaying and interacting with multiple open views in a mobile environment. An example method can include displaying content for a first web page in a first pane in a maximized state on a mobile device, receiving a touch input on a navigation control associated with the first pane, and responsive to receiving the touch input, displaying a second web page in a second pane on the mobile device, the second pane being in a minimized state in a dock area. The dock area can overlay the first pane in the maximized state and the minimized state of the second pane can display a smaller version of the second web page than the second pane in a maximized state. In some examples the second web page updates content in parallel with the first web page.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for creating digital flash cards that include links to content from one or more digital content sources, referred to herein as a flash card mode. The mode allows a user to create a digital flash card by selecting a portion of a digital content source and performing a create command. The created flash card includes at least two virtual sides and a first side of the flash card identifies the location of the selected portion of digital content. The location may be identified, for example, by a canonical fragment identifier (CFI). Text can then be entered for a second side of the flash card. Flash cards can be shared with other users, and because the flash cards only identify locations of content within digital content sources, the mode is well-suited to handle sources including digital rights management (DRM) protection, for example.

Abstract: Technologies are disclosed for providing visual feedback during touch-based operations on user interface (“UI”) elements. Abstract: There are provided methods, devices, and computer program products for similarity determination. In a method, first and second access data are obtained for a first and a second group of users who access a first and a second website, respectively. A first and a second jump path are generated for the first and second groups of users based on the first and second access data, respectively. The first and second jump paths describe access history for the first and second groups of users among webpages in the first and second websites, respectively. A similarity is determined between the first and second websites based on the first and second jump paths. Here, access data are used for similarity determination and unvisited webpages are not considered in the similarity determination. Therefore, the computation workload may be lowered, and the noise caused by the unvisited webpages may be reduced.

Content structures are searched for a content structure that includes a matching object having an object name matching the noun. The content structure includes objects, where each object has attribute table entries. Upon finding an identified attribute table entry of the matching object that matches the related word, a new content structure is generated. The new content structure includes the matching object and the identified attribute table entry. A content segment is generated for output (e.g., for display on the electronic book) based on the new content structure.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided. The method provides display of preference information using depth perception, such as on a three dimensional display or in a virtual reality space. Objects are identified in an image or image sequence and assigned relevance information based on the preference information. Objects that are favored are shown in foreground planes of the display, to varying degrees based on the strength of the preference. Objects that are disfavored are shown in background planes of the display, also to varying degrees based on the strength of the preferences. Unidentified or neutral objects are shown at a base level, neither foreground nor background. An exemplary embodiment is provided for a movie database application with various actors shown pushed in or out. Another embodiment allows a user to adjust the plane of the objects to alter his preferences.

The pinpoint bookmark is a visual mark that overlays the digital content and that points directly to the spot (i.e., directly to a punctuation mark, letter, word, paragraph, image, video clip, audio clip, or the like) so that it is easy and quick for the user to get back to the exact position within the digital content. The pinpoint bookmark can be cleared using a button. Multiple pinpoint bookmarks across various different personal computing devices associated with a single user can be centrally stored and managed using a remote pinpoint bookmark database.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments relate to the creation of a media effect index for group video conversations. Media effect application (e.g., in the form of graphical overlays, filters, sounds, etc.) may be tracked in a timeline during a chat session. The resulting index may be used to create a highlights reel, which may serve as an index into a live show or may be used to determine the best time to insert materials into a recording of the conversation. The index may be used to automatically detect events in the video feed, to allow viewers to skip ahead to exciting moments (e.g., represented by clusters of applications of particular types of media effects), to determine where each participant spoke in a discussion, or to provide a common “watch together” experience while multiple users watch a common video. An analysis of the index may be used for research or consumer testing.

Abstract: A document presentation method and a user terminal are provided. The method includes selecting, by a user terminal from a plurality of documents on a screen according to a first click position of a user, a to-be-presented document that presents content, where all the documents on the screen are shielded and invisible to the user, identifying a selected input of the user, and adjusting a visible proportion of a shielded region of the to-be-presented document according to the identified selected input. In this way, the user terminal presents solely a document that needs to be shared when the user and a person with whom documents are shared watch a same computer screen together. The user terminal can correspondingly present a partial region of the to-be-presented document according to the selected input of the user, thereby avoiding excessive exposure of information when a shared document is browsed.

Abstract: As may be implemented in accordance with one or more embodiments herein, content in each of a plurality of electronic magazine issues is communicated as follows. One of the plurality of electronic magazine issues is identified for communication with a magazine reader, such as a user reading magazine issues on an end device (e.g., tablet or other computer). At a user display device, and via a user-communication interface medium, an issue cover having an issue name and a cover image is caused to be displayed for the identified magazine issue, as is a summary or overview of articles for the identified magazine issue. For the latter, the display of the issue cover is autonomously caused to be replaced by a set of successive screen pages respectively corresponding to the articles, with each of the successive screen pages including a feature image and article-characterization text associated with one of the articles.

Abstract: An online system provides a continuous feed of content items to a client device. The online system maintains an ordered set of ranked content items for sending to the client device. The online system receives requests from the client device for content items and selects a subset from an ordered set of ranked content items in response to each request. The number of content items in the subset may be based on factors such as the network connection strength of the client device. The client device re-ranks content items received from the online system based on information received during a given session. The session information may indicate the types of content items viewed during the given session, or the speed at which the user is viewing content items during the given session.

Abstract: An interactive viewing system of the present invention provides a user with a viewing duality in which a user is shown a floor plan, schematic layout, or other diagram on one side of a display and a visual representation, such as a digital image, corresponding to a selected portion of the schematic layout or diagram, on the other side of the same display. The user is presented with a current position marker and a directional indicator as they navigate through the schematic layout. At designated positions within the schematic layout, a corresponding image is concurrently displayed. In this manner, the user maintains a sense of where they are within the entire structure, while at the same time seeing images of the corresponding area.

In this manner, press gesture identifying precision can be improved, and a problem that it is difficult for the touchscreen to distinguish a long press from the press gesture can be avoided.

Abstract: An image scanning device including an image sensor, an operation unit, and circuitry. The circuitry acquires reference-image data and comparative-image data output from the image sensor when a predetermined time elapses after acquiring the reference-image data. The circuitry further divides each of the reference-image data and the comparative-image data into a plurality of image areas, extracts a feature point of a given pixel for each of the plurality of image areas of each of the reference-image data and the comparative-image data, compares pixel values of feature points in the same coordinate to determine a difference in pixel value, identifies an image area including at least one feature point having a difference in pixel value, and identifies a direction of flip of pages of the document based on the image area including the at least one feature point having the difference in pixel value.

Abstract: A method and system for providing information that enables easier and quicker access to an item related to a context of a device, and a computer-readable recording medium thereof are provided. The method includes detecting a context of a device, and displaying at least one virtual space corresponding to the detected context on a screen of the device. The virtual space is a Graphic User Interface (GUI) that is configured to register the detected context and information related to at least one item.

Abstract: According to principles of the present inventive concepts, a keyboard plug-in for a MMS application permits a user to search a database of lyrical segments to include within a messaging conversation as a message to a recipient. A search bar permits the user to enter a search query. A display area displays search results received from the database containing lyrical segments with lyrical content related to the user-supplied search query. Upon selection of a desired search result, the lyrical segment is copied and pasted into a messaging box of the user's MMS application and is transmitted to a recipient when the user sends the message. Upon receipt of the message containing the lyrical segment, the recipient plays the lyrical segment on their messaging device by clicking the message.

Abstract: TTS is a well known technology for decades used for various applications from Artificial Call centers attendants to PC software that allows people with visual impairments or reading disabilities to listen to written works on a home computer. However to date TTS is not widely adopted for PC and Mobile users for daily reading tasks such as reading emails, reading pdf and word documents, reading through website content, and for reading books. The present invention offers new user experience for operating TTS for day to day usage. More specifically this invention describes a synchronization technique for following text being read by TTS engines and specific interfaces for touch pads, touch and multi touch screens. Nevertheless this invention also describes usage of other input methods such as touchpad, mouse, and keyboard.

Abstract: Mechanisms are provided for performing an operation based on an identification of similar lines of questioning by input question sources. Question information identifying extracted features of an input question and a first source of the input question is obtained. A clustering operation is performed to cluster the input question with one or more other questions of a cluster based on a similarity of the extracted features of the input question to features of the one or more other questions. An operation is performed based on results of the clustering of the input question with the one or more other questions.
