Abstract: A share display in a multimedia collaboration system includes a desktop region and a non-overlapping task bar region. A collaboration program is configured to allow the desktop region to be shared with remote multimedia collaboration devices for the purposes of collaboration, but allows control functionality so that whatever the sharer does not wish to share will reside in the task bar region. The task bar region is then prevented from being shared with the remote multimedia collaboration device.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein are directed to managing elements within a notification area of a graphical operating system. The elements may include any graphic, logo, or image associated with running software. A user indicates which elements can be displayed in the notification area, consequently creating a list of potentially displayable elements. For each listed element, an order of display, file location, and display status is designated. The user may freely change the order in which elements are displayed in the notification area by repositioning the displayed elements. Elements may be permanently removed from the notification area, resulting in their deletion from the list. Only elements entered into the order list, at the discretion of the user, are displayable within the notification area.

Abstract: A method for presenting application list is disclosed, which is applied to an electronic device. The method includes activating a list arrangement program which reads several applications and generates categorized application list accordingly. Each application is associated with one of the categories, and includes objects representing the application. The categorized application list includes several groups, each of them includes a category name of one category and the objects associating with one or more applications under the category. The method further includes receiving the control command for displaying one of the groups at the index region of the user interface of the electronic device. The index region is arranged at the side of the user interface. Thus, an application list which is categorized may be provided for improving the convenience of accessing applications.

Abstract: An electronic device that increases both visibility and selectability of executable programs. The electronic device includes a touch panel display having an elongated shape, a memory storing programs, and a processor controlling program execution and the display. The touch panel includes a first display region and a second display region contiguous with and narrower than the first display region. The display displays an execution image of a first program in the first display region and an icon image of a second program in the second display region in a smaller display area than the execution image. When the processor detects contact at the icon image and detects that the contact moves towards the first display region, the processor causes the display to display an execution image of the second program in the first display region.

Abstract: Methods and devices for selectively presenting a user interface or “desktop” across two devices are provided. More particularly, a unified desktop is presented across a device and a computer system that comprise a unified system. The unified desktop acts as a single user interface that presents data and receives user interaction in a seamless environment that emulates a personal computing environment. To function within the personal computing environment, the unified desktop includes a process for docking and undocking the device with the computer system. The unified desktop presents a new user interface to allow access to functions of the unified desktop.

Abstract: A distance measuring unit measures a distance from a picked-up image by an image pickup unit to a tip portion of a finger. When the measured distance is less than a reference distance, a CPU displays an identification mark at a position corresponding to the finger on a display image, and takes in a locus of the finger as a handwritten character/figure. When the measured distance is the reference distance or more, the CPU hides the identification mark, and does not take in the locus of the finger as the handwritten character/figure.

Abstract: Inserting a formula at a location on a content surface in a user interface is provided. A user interface showing a status bar which includes one or more predetermined calculations may be displayed on a computer. The computer may receive a selection of a predetermined calculation from the status bar in the user interface. The selected predetermined calculation may then be dragged from the status bar and inserted at a drop location on the content surface in the user interface. The computer may then automatically generate a formula corresponding to the selected predetermined calculation in the user interface.

Abstract: A mobile device having capabilities to access connections to cellular and Wi-Fi portions of a hybrid telecommunications network is configured to display a variety of different icons that graphically indicate a current connection status for both data usage and voice calling on a graphical user interface (GUI). A user can put the GUI into an expanded state to show additional information about the connection status including textual descriptions of icons to instruct the user as to the specific meaning of a given icon. The textual descriptions enable an association between the iconography and the connection state to be established for the user. The icons can then quickly and effectively convey connection state to the user in a comprehensive manner while efficiently using the available display space on the device.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for providing fast switching to web applications are disclosed. In one method embodiment, a browser application may be determined to be operating on a computing device, the browser application including one or more tabs wherein one of the tabs is associated with a web application. The method may further include the actions of determining that the computing device includes a fast-switch list including one or more applications operating on the computing device, and adding the web application to the fast-switch list.

Abstract: One or more embodiments of the invention display alerts provided by applications of a guest environment in a notification bar controlled by a host operating system (OS) in a host environment of a mobile device, wherein the guest environment is running in a virtual machine supported by a hypervisor running within the host environment. A hypervisor-aware service in the virtual machine registers with a guest OS to be notified when applications request presentation of alerts in a notification bar controlled by the guest OS. Upon receipt of a notification by the guest OS of an application requesting presentation of an alert in the notification bar controlled by the guest OS, the hypervisor-aware service forwards the notification to the hypervisor and the hypervisor transmits a corresponding request to a notification management component of the host OS to present the alert on the notification bar controlled by the host OS.

According to another aspect, an event handler is also implemented on the server system, to process the events generated by client system displaying menus in both the overlapping style and the cascading style. According to yet another aspect, a server system stores a in-memory representation of a context menu, and thereafter serves requests from different clients for the same hierarchical menu based on such in-memory representation.

The method includes: during a process that equipment hands over from a current network to another network, a driver receiving a network-disconnected message, and judging whether the network-disconnected message is sent from a Connection Manager (CM); if the network-disconnected message is sent from the CM, the driver reporting, to an operating system, a first signalling which identifies that the current network is disconnected; and if the network-disconnected message is not sent from the CM, the driver reporting, to the operating system, a second signalling which identifies that the current network is connected. By the adoption of the method and the system, power consumption of the equipment can be reduced.

The promotional content, including a first portion that is visible and a second portion that is hidden in a first state, may be received. Upon receipt of a first input from the user in relation to the first portion, the promotional content may be transitioned from the first state to a second state such the first portion becomes hidden and the second portion becomes visible. Upon failing to receive a second input from the user in relation to the second portion, the promotional content may be transitioned from the second state to the first state. Upon receipt of the second input, an interest in the promotional content may be indicated.

Abstract: This document describes techniques and apparatuses enabling thumbnail-image selection of applications. In some embodiments, these techniques and apparatuses enable a user interface having selectable thumbnail images for applications not currently exposed on a display. The techniques and apparatuses may enable selection of this user interface through a simple gesture that is both easy-to-use and remember. Further, selection of applications not currently exposed on the display may be selected through thumbnail images representing each application's application interface as it will appear on selection.

Abstract: A system, method and computer-readable medium for request routing based on content popularity information are provided. A client computer transmits a request for content from a content provider. The content provider utilizes executable code, such as translation request code, for facilitating request routing utilizing popularity information. The translation request code, may direct a client computing device to request further translation request code and/or translation information. Thereafter, the client issues a DNS query with the translated information including popularity information. The content delivery network service provider can then either resolve the DNS query with an IP address of a cache component or transmit another alternative resource identifier that will resolve to the content delivery network service provider. The process can repeat until a DNS nameserver resolves a DNS query from the client computing device.
