Abstract: User interfaces for multiple display regions are described. One embodiment provides an array of non-overlapping windows that are created from a set of overlapping windows, and a user can select one of the non-overlapping windows to obtain an enlarged view of that selected window while keeping the other windows in their non-overlapping state. In one embodiment, the array of non-overlapping windows can include minimized windows or windows in other virtual desktops (e.g. windows in other “Spaces”) or both. In one embodiment, only windows of a selected application are shown in non-overlapping mode while opened windows of other applications are not shown.

  • Patent number: 7840908
Abstract: A video display system, which enables users to navigate (by panning and zooming) throughout very large digital images. The digital images are stored on a disk drive in a proprietary file format (which is optimized for speed) and then viewed via a VGA connection. The system enables a user's ability to navigate throughout the entire image seamlessly. Instead of requiring a large amount of memory to display these images, the images are essentially transferred directly from the disk drive to video memory.

  • Patent number: 7840907
Abstract: The present invention provides an information processing apparatus that can make the user easily search for desired data. By mutually superposing and displaying icons of respective plural files and folders, and carrying out the flipping operation for thus superposed and displayed icons, an arbitrary icon is shifted and displayed such that the icon is spread. Accordingly, the operation of searching for a desired icon from among the plural icons can be made more intuitive and comprehensible with a sense of flipping a page of a book. Furthermore, since plural icons indicative of the contents of files and folders corresponding to the respective plural icons are displayed such that the icons are not superposed one another, the user can visually confirm the contents of the respective icons, which makes it possible to easily search for an icon of a desired file or folder, and easily search for desired data consequently.

  • Patent number: 7831925
Abstract: A method of displaying data on a display screen is provided wherein first and second display zones are provided on the display screen. The display zones are sized so that, in combination, they substantially occupy a predetermined display area of the display screen which may, for example, be the display screen of a handheld device. In one embodiment, the relative sizes of the display zones are dynamically set dependent upon content to be displayed in each display zone. For example, a display zone for displaying list content may be larger than a display zone for displaying form content. The display zones may be arranged in a lateral fashion wherein they have substantially similar heights, or arranged in a stacked fashion with substantially similar widths. The respective widths or heights, as the case may be, may be sized dependent upon the content for display in each zone.

A complete picture, a picture zoom an area of particular scrutiny around a cursor position, tabular pixel information, a color swatch corresponding to pixel data values and graphic plots of picture data, audio and other information can be placed in areas of a formatted display. Predetermined or input pixel selection criteria can shift the display at least temporarily to identify pixels in the display that meet the criteria as the input video signal frames proceed.

Abstract: A macro element template is replicated to build a macro element library. A macro element is associated with executable instructions for controlling a plurality of production devices to produce a special effect or segment of a media production. One or more automation control objects are positioned onto a control interface to build a macro element template. Build information is associated with each automation control object to assign a variable name, device type, property page field(s), and variable naming table. A replicator control interface allows a range of sources to be assigned to the macro element template, and is associated with executable instructions for building the macro element library. The macro element library includes user-defined filenames that enables a director to quickly search and select a desired macro element. Changes in production values ripple throughout the macro element library to dynamically update the macro elements.

  • Patent number: 7530026
Abstract: A user-activatable dashboard (also referred to as a unified interest layer) contains any number of user interface elements, referred to herein as “widgets,” for quick access by a user. In response to a command from a user, the dashboard is invoked and the widgets are shown on the screen. The user can activate the dashboard at any time, causing the dashboard to temporarily replace the existing user interface display on the user's screen. Once the dashboard has been activated, the user can interact with any or all of the widgets, and can configure the dashboard by adding, deleting, moving, or configuring individual widgets as desired. When the user wishes to return to the normal user interface he or she was working with, the user issues a command causing the dashboard to be dismissed. Once the dashboard has been dismissed, the previous user interface state is restored, allowing the user to resume normal interactions with the operating system.

  • Patent number: 7487471
Abstract: One implementation provides a method for providing a graphical user interface (GUI) that allows a user to view proposed modifications to a knowledge entity. The method includes displaying to the user a first representation of a first proposed modification to the knowledge entity, and displaying to the user a second representation of a second proposed modification to the knowledge entity, wherein the second representation is positioned in relation to the first representation to indicate whether a conflict exists between the first and second proposed modifications to the knowledge entity. If there is a visual indication of the conflict, the method further includes displaying a modified representation of the knowledge entity by applying either the first or the second proposed modification according to a user-adjustable decision criterion.

  • Patent number: 7478322
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and arrangement for reading hypertext pages especially on mobile phone display screens. A device is provided with a program which “understands” some basic rules of written language such as punctuation, conjunctives connecting parts of sentences, and the direction of reading. A low-resolution display (300) is divided into a navigation pane (320) and read pane (330). The selected hypertext page is decoded, and an overall view thereof, preprocessed in a predetermined manner, is brought into the navigation pane. A length of text cut off according to the said rules is brought at a time into the read pane from the area indicated by a cursor (310). The text is so short that it is easily readable as far as the size of the characters is concerned. The device has predefined key functions to move forward or backward in the text one step at a time or by skipping text passages if desired.
