Abstract: A system and related techniques accept user-inputted search terms, for example to perform a search for files or other data or objects. Corresponding matches to those terms may be presented to the user in a “word-wheel”-type breakout list generated on the fly for groupings of hits by attributes or other criteria, as the system searches through the file system at the current level or point in the file system hierarchy. According to embodiments, when the search logic fails to locate a hit on the inputted search term at the current level or point in the file system hierarchy, an extension of the search to different levels or points in the file system hierarchy may be automatically generated, and for instance presented to the user as a selectable search box. That box may for example be highlighted to the user for easy selection. When the user does select the selectable search box, the user's search, for instance for files of type or extension “.doc” or “.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a solution to add a user selectable lock to a GUI control, such as a close button. The lock can be imposed on an individual window. After being applied, a user will have to explicitly unlock the control before the control can be selected, which prevents inadvertent selections of the locked control. For example, a lock can be placed on a close control to prevent accidental closing of a window. Locks can be manually or automatically applied. Automatically applied locks can be associated with a set of user configurable rules, which can also establish rules for automatically unlocking GUI controls. An applied GUI control lock can be unlocked in a user configurable manner, with any level of security.

Abstract: Systems and techniques manage commands generated through user interface dialogs. In general, in one implementation, commands resulting from interaction with controls of a dialog are received, and first and second commands are distinguished. The first command is held upon receipt to be performed later, and the second command is passed through the dialog to be performed upon receipt. Both of the commands are retained in a command sequence managed by a cancel control of the dialog. The dialog can include a preview control operable to specify whether effects of interaction with the controls are to be previewed. The first command can be subject to the preview control, while the second command is not subject to the preview control. Distinguishing between the commands can involve performing the second command but not the first command when the preview control specifies the effects of interaction are not to be previewed.

Abstract: A method for automatically verifying one or more features of file-based media content (108) is disclosed. This file-based media content includes one or more media content files. The method includes customizing (204) a test plan on the basis of the one or more features. Customizing the test plan includes creating, modifying or utilizing at least one media content check of one or more media content checks. A media content check verifies at least one feature of the one or more features of the file-based media content. Further, the method includes verifying (206) the one or more features, based on the customized test plan. The method also includes documenting (208) the results obtained from the verification of the one or more features.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer program products are described for providing a graphical user interface (GUI) that may include a first openable window of image features constituting, for example, a pseudo-image of a scanned probe array. The image features each have one or more characteristics representing one or more hybridization reactions associated with a probe of the probe array. The GUI also has a second openable window including data features, each relating to one or more quantifications of one or more hybridization reactions associated with a probe of the probe array. This second window may be, for example, a scatter plot of hybridization intensities of probes to two or more labeled samples. The GUI further includes a third openable window including descriptive features such as rows of a spreadsheet. Each row may include descriptive elements associated with a probe.

The present system also makes it easy to track the creation and breaking of linked text box chains.

The recording apparatus may access a music piece purchasing data base and select music to be recorded on the recording medium from the music piece purchasing data base. A total playing time of the selected music is calculated. Further, a remaining recording time of the recording medium is calculated, the remaining recording time being the recording capacity of the recording media before the selected music is recorded on the recording medium. Then, it is judged whether or not the total playing time of the selected music is greater than the remaining recording time. A warning is issued when it is judged that the total playing time is greater than the remaining recording time.

Abstract: The present invention is a solution for detecting a spoofed command button in a pop-up window. The solution tracks the creation process of a pop-up window, detects the presence of command buttons in the pop-up window, verifies the value labeled on each command button in the pop-up window and determines a follow-up action generated from selecting a command button on the pop-up window.

Abstract: Provided are a user interfacing display apparatus having improved operability without confusing the user as to setting displayed on a pop-up screen, and an image forming apparatus. When a copy ratio key as a detail setting key is selected on an LCD as a display section provided in the user interfacing display apparatus mounted on an image forming apparatus, the pop-up screen is displayed. At the same time, a display state of an interruption key is changed, so as to be displayed to inform that the interruption key is unavailable. While the pop-up screen is being displayed, a user is not allowed to select the interruption key. Thus, for example, on contrary to a case where process is switched to an interruption mode while the pop-up screen is being displayed, there will be no confusion as to the detail setting displayed on the pop-up screen before switching to the interruption mode.

The method displays the shortcuts in a user interface of the operating system on a display unit of the portable device when a first process is operating in the portable device. An application menu corresponding to the shortcut is displayed when the shortcut is activated, where the application menu comprises a list of a plurality of applications. The first process is executed as a background process when one of the applications is selected on the user interface as a second process, and the second process is executed as a foreground process.

Abstract: A method for interactive data visualization to perform data analysis comprising dataflow processing of information and utilizing mathematical operations designed to accept, operate on, and produce numerical data within the universal range of numbers such as the interval [0,1] or [?1,+1]. In an implementation, visual effects responsive to data values and interactive control produces computer graphics instructions that can be rendered as graphics in a browser and transmitted over a network. Interactive control can also be transmitted over a network so as to provide web access and a collaboration environment. In an implementation the selection of function blocks and the general connectivity among them can be specified by using a drawing tool and a palette of function blocks, and clicking on each function block would cause dialog windows to appear that can be used for setting parameters.

Abstract: An operating system program launch menu, such as a Start menu, provides various mechanisms for a user to quickly and efficiently locate and launch desired data items such as programs, data files, storage locations, and the like. A search box within the program launch menu may be used to quickly locate programs, documents, communications, and other data items. An auto-complete feature may be used, e.g., when the user restricts the locations searched for the user-entered search text. A most commonly used program list may include programs based on various criteria including both frequency of use and recent use, thereby always including a most recently used item. An all programs view may display programs and documents in a hosted-tree view within the original confines of the program launch menu, thereby negating the need to open sub-menus on top of a large portion of the desktop displayed on the display device.

Abstract: A method of autonomously managing selective display of graphical interfaces displayable by a computing device is provided. The method includes detecting creation of an application window or dialog box attempting to be displayed by the computing device. The method includes obtaining display characteristics for a created application window or dialog box. The display characteristics include display configuration parameters and displayable contents of the created application window or dialog box. The method includes identifying the display characteristics from different display characteristics linked to corresponding display management actions. The method includes performing a display management action that corresponds to the display characteristics to selectively display the application window or dialog box or performing a display management action that is not directly associated with display of the application window or dialog box.

Abstract: A method for browser software with a tabbed interface to suppress, or delay, the display of a dialog box that is initiated by an inactive, or background, tab. An indication may be provided to the user that a dialog box needing user attention may be provided. When that tab becomes active, and the web page on that tab becomes visible, the dialog box is then displayed. This suppression method may be applied to a variety of application programs.

Abstract: Techniques for presenting a modal dialog box in a graphical user interface are described herein. According to one embodiment, a semi-transparent panel is displayed superimposed on a graphical user interface (GUI) page in response to a first user interaction with the GUI page. The GUI page provides a user interface for managing a virtualization system. A dialog box is then displayed on top of the semi-transparent panel, where the dialog box is to receive an input from the user. An alert is generated in response to a second user interaction with an area of the semi-transparent panel other than the dialog box, where the alert indicates that the second user interaction is invalid. Other methods and apparatuses are also described.

Abstract: Displaying overlapping windows from a client device. Windows are displayed at a client device with a first window overlapping a second window on a single display. The first window is a current window. The current window is based on front to back ordering of windows displayed at the client device. Pixels in a region of the first window are captured and sent to a display server. At the display server, the first window is displayed on a first display region. The second window becomes the current window, resulting in capturing and sending pixels in a region of the second window to the display server. At the display server, the second window is displayed on a second display region.

The gallery control window contains a list of one or more control objects for modifying control properties of the application items located within the main application window. Each of the control objects in the list of control objects includes a graphical icon having a selection portion and a properties portion and one or more control properties that affect one or more items within the main application window.

Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, computer readable media, and methods for creating, exporting, sharing, and installing graphics functional blocks are described herein. In one embodiment, a selection is received from a graphical user interface (GUI) for one or more patches of multiple linked patches representing a graphics composition. In response to the selection, a dependency analysis is performed to determine one or more related patches that have a dependency relationship with the selected patches. Based on the dependency analysis, source code associated with the selected patches and the related patches is extracted without extracting source code of unselected and unrelated patches. Thereafter, the selected patches, the related patches, and the extracted source code are exported into a composition file to be shared with another user. Other methods and apparatuses are also described.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a graphical user interface (“GUI”) enables the efficient composition and execution of a test of a message-based application, Web application, or SOA systems' capacity to receive, process and respond to message traffic. The GUI may be used to generate a test composition by dragging and dropping message clips onto one or more tracks. Each clip includes one or more message, with each track being organized into one or more bands. Each track and each band may run contemporaneously to send messages to a target device or application. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract that will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure.

Abstract: The present invention put forth a method for users to give commands directly in computer software through use of a command input module, a command dictionary or database with synonyms, a user command dictionary or database, a command search engine and a dynamical command execution module. The command search engine gets the command input from the command input module and searches the command dictionary or database and the user command dictionary or database, if a matching command with the command input is found, the dynamical command execution module is called to execute the command directly; if one or more synonymous or similar commands are found, a dynamical user interface with all the found commands is displayed for the user to select and execute; if no matching commands or synonymous commands are found, a message stating that the command input cannot be found in the software is displayed to the user.

Abstract: An interactive system for assisting a user in the selection of ammunition based upon user entered parameters. A stand-alone kiosk includes a computer having a microprocessor and a memory, an input device in operative communication with the computer for permitting a user to enter parameters, and an output device in operative communication with the computer for providing information from the system to the user. A program is stored in the computer for execution by the microprocessor, the program interactively displaying a series of prompts on the output device, each prompt eliciting a response from the user concerning hunting parameters. The program stores the user inputted parameters in memory, applies predefined rules and/or recommendations against the user inputted parameters to thereby suggest advantageous ammunition, and displays the selected ammunition to the user on the output device.

One method may include receiving written input where the written input is representative of a mathematical expression. The method comprises retrieving data descriptive of an object from a data repository, transferring the data as an ordered plurality of rows of data to a drop down list box, and displaying the drop down list box on the graphical user interface. Consistent with another implementation, a method of displaying a screen view on a graphical user interface of a computer system is provided. The method comprises defining a screen element allowing display of data, assigning a drop down list box attribute to the screen element, configuring the screen element to suppress data input to the screen element, and displaying the screen element on the graphical user interface.

A system may allow communication and may provide, to a remote client device, a message related to an event at a server. A system may allow communication and may render at a local client device a composite view including a local graphical user interface (GUI) and a remote view associated with a remote application running on a remote server is provided. The system may comprise a remote view module configured to generate the remote view of the remote application, and a local view module configured to generate the local GUI for controlling the remote application remotely, configured to control an area of the display output data of the remote application that is displayed in the remote view, and configured to keep track of coordinates and dimensions of the area. A composite view comprising the local GUI and the remote view may be provided to a local display at the local client device.

Environment code that is descriptive of the design inputs and selected behavior options is emitted, typically in a hardware description language, for submission to a formal verification tool.
