Abstract: Described herein is an issue tracking system (ITS) comprising one or more processors; one or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media storing sequences of instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to: render a user interface depicting an issues queue that includes two or more issues defined in the ITS; receive in the user interface, a selection of at least two issues; receive in the user interface a section of an action; and launch an operation to apply the selected action to each selected issue.

Abstract: Processing for pressing a shortcut key to close a menu and processing for pressing the same shortcut key to enter a specific menu are made compatible. A specific menu among hierarchical menus including a plurality of menus for making a setting or an operation instruction about a display control apparatus is assigned to a specific operation unit. If the specific operation unit is operated when the specific menu is displayed, display of the menu is cleared. If the specific operation unit is operated when a menu different from the specific menu and a menu one level above the specific menu is displayed, the specific menu is displayed.

Abstract: A plugin for an Integrated Design Environment is provided, including a set of commands for defining an appearance of a UI design window in the Integrated Design Environment. The appearance of the application design window simulates a display screen of a portable electronic device and the set of commands being related to one type of portable electronic device.

Abstract: A graphical user interface (GUI) capable of presenting a display that indicates that navigation controls can be used for navigating through results of a search using a search engine. The GUI highlights the GUI control that accepts text characters for indicating a search term such that the area contrasts with the display of an adjacent display area in response to entering the search term. Once the search is initiated, such as by actuating a search initiation control, the GUI may change to highlight navigation controls to indicate that those controls can be used to navigate between search result hits. Additional icons or controls may be displayed to further indicate the function of navigation controls and actions that may be taken to further modify the display of controls, such as collapsing some of the controls.

Abstract: A system includes a processor and a memory coupled to the processor. The memory includes instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform a method that includes displaying a plurality of menu items (each associated with one of a plurality of media content items) in a graphical user interface. The method also includes, when a particular promotion associated with a particular media content item is to be displayed, displaying the particular promotion proximate to a particular menu item of the plurality of menu items and enabling a direction command. Selection of the direction command causes a cursor position to jump directly to the particular menu item from a different menu item of the plurality of menu items.

Abstract: In general, the invention relates to a method for capturing information from a web site. The method includes accessing the web site using a browser with a browser module, where the web site comprises a number of web pages having information in a first format, and obtaining a profile corresponding to the web site, where the profile defines a manner to capture information in a first format from the web site. The method further includes capturing information, by the browser module, from at least one of the number of web pages based on the profile and sending the information captured by the browser module to a destination application, where the destination application is external to the browser and where the destination application is configured to use the information in a second format.

Abstract: The technology is a system and method for displaying a non-grid electronic program guide. Available television channels and episodes are identified in a program guide database. The available television channels are displayed in a first window of the guide. The television series associated with the available episodes are displayed in a second window of the guide. In response to selecting one of the available television channels, the available television episodes are narrowed to the television series that air on the selected television channel. In response to the selection of one of the television series, episodes of the selected television series are displayed in a third window of the guide. Selecting an episode displays the episode information in a fourth window of the guide.

Abstract: A graphical user interface for a display devised for presentation of hierarchical information includes a first menu field carrying a list of menu items, at least one of the menu items indicating a submenu field which is expandable within the first menu field. A graphical layer effect is applied to an expanded submenu field such that the submenu field is displayed as an underlying layer to the first menu field.

Abstract: In menu structure, information is separately displayed on a menu item-by-menu item basis. Therefore, the adoption of menu structure involves inconvenience. (For example, pieces of information under different menu items cannot be viewed at the same time.) A portable information communication terminal eliminates this inconvenience. Abstract: Provided is a display apparatus including a display panel and a display frame to support the display panel. The display apparatus including an input unit, provided on the exterior surface of the display apparatus, for outputting a contact detection signal when a user contacts the input unit; a signal processor for generating a function adjustment user interface (UI) menu to be displayed on the display panel; and a controller for controlling the signal processor to display the function adjustment UI menu corresponding to the user's contact through the input unit when the user's contact is detected based on a detection result of the input unit. Abstract: A system and method for displaying a set of hierarchical menu items is disclosed. Each menu item may be associated with at least one sub-item and/or with content data. Each sub-item may be associated with content data for display upon selection of the sub-item. The system simultaneously displays each menu item in a list format. Upon selection of one of the menu items, the system displays each sub-item associated with the selected menu item. For any selected sub-item, the system displays the display data associated with the selected sub-item and stores data indicating that the selected sub-item is the most recently-selected sub-item associated with the selected menu item. When any menu item is selected, the system determines the most recently-selected sub-item (if any) associated with the selected menu item and displays the display data associated with the most recently-selected sub-item.

Abstract: Location-based display characteristics in a user interface are described. In an implementation, a determination is made by mobile communications device that icon is to be displayed at a particular location in the user interface. A display characteristic is applied by the mobile communications device that is defined for the particular location such that a display of the icon is changed. The icon is displayed having an applied display characteristic on the display device of the mobile communications device at the particular location in the user interface.

Abstract: A method for providing table-of-contents extensions for items displayed on an electronic device may include displaying contents of the item other than a table of contents for the item. The method may also include receiving user selection of a navigation option while the contents of the item are being displayed. The navigation option may correspond to a part of the item that is listed in the table of contents for the item. The method may also include navigating to the part of the item corresponding to the navigation option in response to the user's selection of the navigation option.

In various examples, provided are a user-friendly display device and a user-friendly display method that enable a user to understand in advance what information will be displayed in a setup screen when a reverse transition operation (e.g., a return or cancel operation) is performed.

Abstract: A method, a computer product and a device for presentation of elements of a software environment arranged in a hierarchical structure are provided. To allow an easy-to-understand and user-friendly navigable presentation of the elements, the following steps are proposed for the presentation: displaying a linear chain of precisely one representative element of each hierarchy level in each case, with the representative elements being arranged within the linear chain in accordance with their hierarchy level, and display of further elements of a first hierarchy level after the user has selected a first representative element of the linear chain which is assigned to the first hierarchy level.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for facilitating navigation of a hierarchy including a plurality of categories within a user interface. A method includes displaying a first set of categories in the hierarchy as respective graphical images along a first axis of a user interface. A reverse navigation option is also displayed along the first axis with the first set of categories. The method continues by allowing the first set of categories and the reverse navigation option to be scrolled along the first axis to place the reverse navigation option within a focus area of the user interface. In response to the reverse navigation option being placed within the focus area, the user interface displays one or more ancestor categories of the first categories as respective graphical images along a second axis of the user interface. In response to an ancestor category being selected from the second axis, the user interface replaces the first categories with second categories along the first axis.

Abstract: A method of the interactive features on a DVD utilizing restricted user inputs e.g. reduced number of key pad buttons. The DVD menu may be collapsed to form an indexed linear list of the menu buttons. A user then sequentially navigates through the menu using a one or two directional input to find the desired menu choice, which is then selected using a predetermined user input.

Abstract: A method and system for providing context dependent pop-up menu icons that activate menu icons in response to a select & drag operation by manipulation of a pointing device. Presented icons may correspond to functions or actions that can be implemented with the particular type of content selected. Icons may be displayed in a consistent manner in terms of position and content with respect to the selected file or object. Icons may appear only during a select & drag operation, thereby leaving the display uncluttered at other times. Presentation of icons may be discontinued when the selected file or object is dragged beyond the area of the presented icons. New applications can register with the operating system to specify icons to be presented when corresponding files are selected or when particular content objects are selected within the application.

Abstract: A computer implemented method is disclosed. The method includes determining, at a set-top box device, that a plurality of menu items in a menu includes a particular menu item associated with a content item that is to be promoted when displaying the plurality of menu items in the menu. The method further includes displaying the plurality of menu items in the menu. A determination is made at the set top box whether to display a promotion of the content item. In response to determining to display the promotion, the promotion of the content item is displayed beside the plurality of menu items, and a right command is enabled allowing a cursor position to jump directly to the particular menu item from a different menu item of the plurality of menu items. The jump is performed after a single application of the right command, where the different menu item does not have a restriction as to a position in the menu. In response to determining not to display the promotion, the right command is disabled.

Abstract: The present invention enables a focus to be moved easily among focus items in different frames when frames are displayed. To do so, the last focused item in an in-frame document once activated is stored (S11) and, when a frame movement event is caused by a focus movement operation (S12, Yes), the focus is moved to a focus item stored for a new frame (S13). If the stored focus item is not in the display area of the frame, the focus is moved preferably to a predetermined (for example, the first) focus item in the display area. Operation means for the focus movement operation may be used with frame switching means for switching the active frame among frames.

Abstract: Systems and methods enhance editing capabilities associated with a wide variety of different types of electronic documents. Such systems and methods may include a processor that maintains an electronic document having a first portion (e.g., an individual word, character, character string, or the like) provided by a recognizer (e.g., by handwriting or speech recognition software), and they may provide access to potential alternative characters, words, or character strings generated by the recognizer during various user editing functions and operations. Abstract: One implementation provides a method for accessing a window previously viewed by a user in a graphical user interface (GUI) during an interaction with an individual. The method includes displaying to the user a first window in the GUI. The first window contains a collapsible/expandable menu. The menu contains an entry that refers to a window previously viewed by the user. Upon selection of the entry in the menu, the method further includes displaying to the user the corresponding window previously viewed by the user in the GUI. The corresponding window has a data-entry field that contains a latest version of information that is related to the interaction with the individual that was previously entered or modified by the user.

In a preferred embodiment, the data model abides rules that limit the total number of nodes displayable and that limit the number of child nodes displayable beneath a given parent. collapsed or folded nodes are replaced by embedded navigation controls that indicate the hidden nodes.

Abstract: A method and system for previewing a media item recommendation queue. A server receives a request from a first device for at least a portion of a media item recommendation queue associated with a second device. The server provides to the first device a plurality of recommendation queue entries from a top portion of the media item recommendation queue associated with the second device. The order of the plurality of recommendation queue entries in the media item recommendation queue is based on a plurality of priority indicators associated with the second device. The server receives a request from the first device to couple the second device to the first device and couples the second device to the first device, wherein media item recommendations generated by the second device are directed to the first device.

Abstract: Participants of a medical study are notified of and perceive information related to adverse events on a toolbar. The configuration of a toolbar may be different if a serious adverse event is being presented than if an insignificant adverse event is being presented. Serious adverse events include adverse events having severity greater than insignificant adverse events, having severity greater than a predetermined threshold, requiring hospitalization, and/or being life-threatening. Insignificant adverse events include adverse events that affect patients in an unexpected manner.

A display space in defined in video memory and the display space is filled by sequentially copying at least a portion of a set of characters from the display data structure into the video memory.

Abstract: A computer implemented method and system for displaying categorized information on a user interface is provided, in which the user may choose one or more categories of information. In response, data associated with the chosen category is retrieved. The display of the categories and the retrieval of the data is performed independently, so that the displayed categories remain responsive to user interaction while the data is being retrieved. In one implementation, the display of the categories and information on the user interface is handled by the main thread and the retrieval of the data associated with the chosen category is performed by a worker thread executing asynchronously with respect to the main thread.

Abstract: A graphical user interface for a portable electronic device includes an application display region that displays a current application context of an application and a navigation bar adjacent to the application display region. The navigation bar includes two horizontally adjacent regions, comprising a current context region for displaying an indicator of the current application context and a prior context region for displaying an indicator of an application context preceding the current application context. The application display region simulates shifting of the application display in a first direction upon detecting user selection of the prior context region, and simulates shifting of the application display in a second direction, opposite the first direction, upon detecting user selection of an application context different from the current application context and the prior application context.

Abstract: A device for managing image and audio files displays thumbnails, which are representative of the files, on a screen in different arrangements, depending on the selected layout and order. When the user enters input to indicates that he or she wishes to browse through the thumbnails, the thumbnails move across the screen in sequence, following a path through a focus outline in the center of the screen. The path followed by the thumbnails depends on the selected layout.

Abstract: Aspects of the present invention provide context menus useful in, e.g., a computing device receiving user input via a stylus. Icons representing actions performable on an object are displayed in a context menu for the object. Additional aspects of the invention include cascading menus that also minimize hand and/or wrist motion, as well as placement of menus based on user handedness and/or stylus orientation.

Abstract: A computer implemented method and system for displaying categorized information on a user interface is provided, in which the user may choose one or more categories of information. In response, data associated with the chosen category is retrieved. Abstract: What is presented is a system and method by which a visually impaired worker could easily and quickly navigate menu options on touch screen displays. An Audible Feedback ON/OFF Switch is provided which turns the audible feedback feature of the present invention on or off. The software monitoring which row/column areas of the touch screen's display grid have been touched by the user in response to a menu option selection is made switchable into one of two modes. A first mode is when the audible feedback feature is OFF or otherwise disabled. In this mode the software operates the touch screen's menu selections in the normal manner in which the machine is intended to perform. When a user selects an option, the option is immediately activated whether it be a machine activity or a jump to another level of menus. A second mode is when the audible feedback feature has been turned ON or otherwise activated.

Abstract: A direction indicator for navigating within a web site is installed relative to a link shown on a web page within the web site. The direction indicator is surfaced prior to selection of the link in order to inform the user whether the link will take the user forward or backward within the web site. The direction indicator may comprise an arrow. The arrow points upward to indicate movement backward within the web site, and the arrow points downward to indicate movement forward within the web site. The direction indicator may be surfaced by hovering a pointing device over the link.

Abstract: A graphical user interface and method for data entry of a plurality of fields of information in a computer system, such as a web browser interface, using small scrolling and paging of tabular data and entry fields. A JAVA script is employed to produce a form-like user interface in which a user may enter information in fields shown in a graphical user interface (“GUI”) window display area. The GUI is provided with a NEXT button which allows the user to indicate that he or she has more data to enter than can be entered in the currently available view of the form in the GUI window display area. The script saves the currently entered data into a set of hidden fields or variables, and provides a new screen with clear fields for additional data entry. By selecting the PREVIOUS button provided by the JAVA script on the GUI, the user may cause the script to recall previously saved data from the hidden fields or variables and to redisplay them so that the user may review or edit previously entered information.
