  • Patent number: 10322368
Abstract: Tightly-coiled helical ducts for centrifugal air separators may be formed with the tools and methods disclosed herein. A helical coil toolset includes a helically grooved mandrel and an entry block. The helical groove of the mandrel has a small helix inside diameter relative to a width of the helical groove. The entry block has a guide channel to guide a tube to the helical groove and a mandrel channel to receive the mandrel. Methods include forming tubing into a tightly-coiled helical duct by filling a tube with fine particles, positioning the tube in the helical groove of a helically grooved mandrel, fixing the tube relative to the mandrel, assembling an entry block around the tube and around the mandrel, and bending the filled tube around the helically grooved mandrel into the tightly-coiled helical duct by rotating the mandrel relative to the entry block.

Trigger signals are generated at certain times as the roll rotates, the time of the occurrence of the trigger signal representing a specific location on the helical sensor. The pressure signals are coordinated with the trigger signals, such that the pressure corresponds to the angular position of the roll where it is sensed. Abstract: Coil winding machine for the winding of coils without support, of bare or insulated wire, comprising a main drive shaft, onto which is keyed a set of control cams controlling the movements of:a spindle, on which the coil is formed and which is caused to rotate by a gearing comprising a sector gear, oscillated by a first cam, and a pinion gear keyed onto the spindle shaft, the pinion and the shaft being movable parallely to themselves along an arc concentric to the rotation axis of an intermediate gearwheel;a wireguide, for feeding the wire and guiding the distribution of the turns, the forward movement of which is controlled by a second cam and which comprises structures for positively retaining the wire during its forward movement at the start of the winding;shears for cutting the wire at the end of the winding, which are controlled by a third cam and which can be adjusted with precision in respect of the spindle and the wireguide, so as to determine the length of the terminals at the start and at the end of

  • Patent number: 4199968
Abstract: Band making apparatus comprising a mandrel on which is wound wire of U-shaped cross-section with relatively inverted portions alternating longitudinally of the axis of the mandrel having a side edge interengaged in the channel of the other, has a guide for guiding the wire onto the mandrel provided with a guiding surface which engages the external surface of a side of the wire incoming to the mandrel, and the wire and mandrel are relatively rotated about the axis of the mandrel and reciprocated longitudinally of that axis at a controlled speed ratio such that the back pressure of previously wound turns maintains the incoming wire side against the guiding surface.

  • Patent number: 4084420
Abstract: The invention provides a method and an apparatus for automatic production of coiled springs, wherein the spring has close windings at both ends and rough windings with relatively large pitch in the middle portion, by shifting the supplying positions of a material wire in relation to a rotating fixed coil-supporter at varied speed in accordance with a desired winding pitch.

  • Patent number: 3988915
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing prestressed coil springs whereby the wire is fed about a rotating spindle and taken up or drawn in with a predetermined spacing from the front end of the coils and guided to a point ahead of the front end of the coils in the form of an expanded helix. A stop block is movable along the spindle, fixed against rotation and provided with a plurality of wire grooves at different angles of inclination so that the wire passes beneath the already formed coil as it passes through one of the grooves to produce the desired stress.
