Publication number: 20150135790Abstract: The invention relates to the pressure treatment of metals, specifically to producing a metal strip using cold deformation. A strip is consecutively drawn with back and front tension through bending devices. Moreover, the degree of deformation of a strip is regulated in each bending device by means of changing the ratio of the speed of the strip exiting a bending device to the speed of said strip entering said device, in such a way as to avoid a break in the metal, the required number of bending devices being selected on the basis of the total stretch factor of a strip and on the maximum allowable stretch factor of same. Patent number: 8201429Abstract: A blanking line including an uncoiler, a first feeder, a slitter, and a shear. A coil of metal is carried by the uncoiler. The first feeder removes the material from the coil and typically includes a leveler for leveling the metal. The metal is fed from the leveler into a looping pit that is located between the leveler and slitter. The slitter feeds and slits the material a predetermined distance and is driven with servo motors. The looping pit acts as an accumulator allowing the metal to hang so the slitter can move metal intermittently into a shear while the leveler runs at a constant rate. The shear cuts the material to a predetermined length corresponding with the distance that the material is fed by the slitter. A measuring wheel may be included to measure the distance that the material is moved by the slitter.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 2009Date of Patent: June 19, 2012Assignee: Braner USA, Inc.Inventor: Douglas Matsunaga

Patent number: 5875664Abstract: A spring forming machine is provided with closed-loop feedback from sensors which monitor dimensions of the coils and heads of the spring being formed, servo motors which control wire feed speed, coil radius and pitch forming elements, and coiling direction. Video cameras form pictorial images of the spring being formed. The images are digitized and fed to a central computer, along with images from similar machines forming similar springs, which compares the signals, such as photometric images, from the different machines, which represent actual spring dimensions, with a single stored image relating to the desired dimensions, such as head shape, coil diameter, and the positions and angles of bends. Discrepancies are correlated with causation data, such as feed roll slippage or material hardness variations, and adjustment signals are sent to the machines. Machines producing errors are interrogated more frequently by the computer. Large errors or failures to respond to adjustments triggers an alarm.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1997Date of Patent: March 2, 1999Assignee: L&P Property Management CompanyInventors: Terence A. Patent number: 5829287Abstract: The stretch leveling or stretch-bend leveling of aluminum or stainless steel strip of a thickness of 0.1 to 0.5 mm is carried out following a measurement of strip nonplanarity or strip profile by regulating the stretch in the stretch leveler or the contour of a roller thereof or both and/or by regulating the depth of penetration or degree of bending by the stretch-bend rollers. The tension in the strip just before coiling is varied in response to measurement of the thickness of the strip across the width, thereby optimizing the leveling and surface qualities of the strip.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 1997Date of Patent: November 3, 1998Assignee: BWG Bergwerk- und Walzwerkmaschinenbau GmbHInventors: Oskar Noe, Andreas Noe, Rolf Noe

Patent number: 5802901Abstract: Bent or twisted electrolytic seed plates are caused to undergo primary straightening by a total of at least 15 vertically staggered work rolls having a diameter not exceeding 50 mm. Then, ribs are formed on the seed plates by groove-forming rolls having annular flanges along their outer periphery, and the plates are caused to undergo secondary straightening by rolls having annular grooves along their outer periphery.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1997Date of Patent: September 8, 1998Assignees: Sumitomo Metal Mining Co.,Ltd., Kawazoe Machine Works, Ltd.Inventors: Hirohisa Oda, Masamichi Miyauchi, Akinori Miura, Kenichi Moriyama, Tsuneo Funahashi, Yukihisa Moriya, Katsushi Takeda
