Abstract: A bending order which provides a highest possible bending accuracy is determined. First a bending order generating section generates a plurality of bending orders possible for bending operation. • Patent number: 5309746
Abstract: A system is provided for assuring the straightness of pipes or tubes produced by a continuous seam-welded process. Following sizing, the newly formed continuous tube passes through a straightening unit and a preliminary alignment checker. The alignment checker observes the actual spatial position of the advancing tube, and the straightening unit is adjusted in response to deviations of the observed position from the predetermined desired path to deform the tube so that it conforms to the desired path. The advancing continuous tube is then severed into individual tube sections of desired length, and some or all of the sections are inspected for straightness. In inspecting for straightness the individual sections are rotated about their longitudinal axes to place the seam-weld in a predetermined position for correlating the angular attitude of the section with that of the advancing continuous tube.

  • Patent number: 5014533
Abstract: An apparatus for processing wire or rods includes a plurality of driven fixed rollers for feeding the wire or rod through the apparatus, each fixed roller having an axis of rotation normal to the central access of the wire rod. A plurality of adjustable rollers is provided for engaging the wire rod and imparting a plastic deformation thereto. Each adjustable roller has an axis of rotation and the adjustable rollers are offset from the fixed rollers. A device is provided for moving the adjustable rollers from a position out of engagement with the wire rod to a position engaging the wire rod. A device is also provided for independently adjusting the adjustable rollers so that the planes defined by the axis of rotation of the adjustable rollers are set at an adjustable angle to the central axis of the wire rod so that a desired torsion can be applied to the wire rod. A wire bending device is also provided for bending the wire or rod, and a cutter is provided for cutting the wire or rod.

  • Patent number: 4719781
Abstract: This invention relates to a device for straightening metal wires by means of a plurality of straightening rollers located alternately on either side of the wire, comprising a fixed chassis, a fixed carriage and mobile carriages guided on two bars parallel to the general direction of the wire. Two adjacent carriages are connected by levers assembled as scissors articulated on the carriages in the lower part and on sliding blocks guided vertically on the carriages in the upper part. A plurality of carriages and lever systems are assembled so that the distance between two adjacent carriages remains identical whatever the carriages in question during displacement of one of them. Each carriage bears one of the rollers located above the wire. Each roller located beneath the wire is borne by one of the levers, and located in an intermediate position between two adjacent upper rollers so that it moves away from said rollers and moves downwardly when the carriages are moved apart.

  • Patent number: 4481996
Abstract: In order to improve the fatigue resistance of a cable, particularly a rubber adherable cable for reinforcing rubber articles such as vehicle tires, substantially uniformly distributed residual compressive stress is induced in substantially the complete peripheric zone of the wires making up the cable. The stress may be induced by submitting lengths of the cable to a number of elementary bending--unbending operations in considerably different planes and simultaneously tensioning the cable.
