Abstract: A process by which nanostructured monolithic bodies can be produced in a single continuous operation, as opposed to multi-stage deformation processing. The process generally entails continuously producing a chip having a nanostructured microstructure by engaging a solid body with a cutting edge of a tool while the solid body and the cutting edge move relative to each other, and simultaneously extruding the chip in the immediate vicinity of the cutting edge, such as with a constraining member, as the chip is separated from the solid body by the cutting edge to continuously plastically deform the chip and produce a nanostructured monolithic body immediately downstream of the cutting edge. The shape and size of the chip can be simultaneously controlled by the extrusion process so that the nanostructured monolithic body has a predetermined geometry. The nanostructured monolithic body can be in the form of a product suitable for immediate use, or undergo further processing to yield a product.

The outflow passage has an opening for a tube wall for forming the wall of the tube, and openings for two intermediate walls for forming connecting walls in the inside space of the tube. The tube formed by this process is composed of a part having the connecting wall and a part having no connecting wall.

Abstract: In a method for producing curved work pieces, an extruded profile leaves the die of an extruder in the strand discharge direction and is then bent into a curved shape by external forces. The extruded profile that leaves the die, before being bent, is deflected so that the strand discharge direction extends forwards at an angle counter to the eventual curvature of the work piece. To this end, the die comprises a tool holder in whose receiving opening an extrusion tool package consisting of a die with or without a mandrel and a cover part is disposed. The guide surfaces of the die and/or of the mandrel that produce the discharged strand are designed or disposed to be at an angle with respect to the strand discharge direction which extends at an incline with respect to the center axis of the die counter to the eventual curvature of the work piece.

Abstract: An extrusion tool for an extrusion press for manufacturing seamless, eccentric pipe sections—in particular pipe sections with circular outer and inner contours—from extrusion blocks, in particular from extrusion billets. The extrusion tool contains a container with a chamber with a longitudinal axis MR which accommodates the extrusion block, an extrusion stem which is introduced into the container chamber, and features a dummy block, a mandrel arm with a longitudinal axis MD forming the inner wall of the pipe-section, and a die with an opening with a longitudinal axis MM forming the outer wall of the pipe section. The mandrel arm is arranged such that it can be pushed out of the dummy block through the extrusion block up to or into the die opening. The mandrel arm in the position for extrusion is arranged eccentric in cross-section with respect to the container chamber and the die opening and the die opening is arranged eccentric in cross-section with respect to the container chamber.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing curved work pieces (W) according to which an extruded profile leaves the die (1) of an extruder in the strand discharge direction (A) and is then bent into a curved shape under the influence of external forces. According to the invention, the extruded profile that leaves the die (1), before being bent, is deflected in such a manner that the strand discharge direction (A) extends forwards at an angle counter to the eventual curvature of the work piece. To this end, the extrusion die for producing curved work pieces (W) comprises a tool holder (6) in whose receiving opening ((9) an extrusion tool package consisting of a die (1) with or without a mandrel (4) and a cover part (8) is disposed. The raw material may be a powder-metallurgical or ceramic mass. The material is extruded through a nozzle mouthpiece and made to rotate by an arrangement of flow guiding surfaces. At least one thread made of a flexible or elastic material is entrained and gives the rod a spiral shape with a predetermined pitch. The thread is retained upstream of the nozzle mouthpiece in an eccentric position relative to the rod axis that extends through the nozzle mouthpiece. The movement of rotation of the raw material is adjusted by an outer adjusting force which modifies the angle between the arrangement of flow guiding surfaces and the longitudinal axis of the nozzle mouthpiece to adjust the position and pitch of the spiral channel.
