  • Patent number: 6662427
Abstract: A method for forming a cavity structure provided with a thin bottom plate is comprises the following steps. The first step is to deform plastically a part of a metal plate so as to form a cavity on one surface of a metal plate wherein the cavity has an oddly bottom surface provided with subsections being different from each other in depth. Simultaneously a protrusion is formed on the other surface of the metal plate by shifting an amount of metal corresponding to the cavity into the protrusion wherein the protrusion has substantially similar figure to the cavity. Then a coupling section, which keeps the protrusion integral with the metal plate, is formed so as to make the protrusion smaller than the cavity. And the protrusion is removed from the metal plate so as to make the other surface of the metal plate flat and to form the bottom plate of the cavity thin while remaining the coupling section.

Abstract: A package for receiving electronic parts is formed with decreased stress and stress concentration to obtain a desired warp and flatness. In particular, according to a cutting protruding part process, a package is accommodated to have a recessed part formed on one face of a metal plate by pressing the face of the metal plate so that a corresponding protruding part is formed bulging from an opposing face of the metal plate. The protruding part is cut by a cutting tool and a bottom which has a cavity shape and is thinner in size than the metal plate is formed at the recessed part. The protruding part is again formed bulging from the metal plate and cut by the cutting tool. The cutting direction is differed in alternately facing directions so that the stress from cutting is almost cancelled.

Abstract: A press has a tool which comprises an upper tool part and a lower tool part. The upper tool part is held on the press slide, while the lower tool part is stationarily mounted in the press frame. A movable forming element, such as a shearing blade, is provided in the lower tool part. The press drive is used for driving the shearing blade. For this purpose, a hydraulic force transmitting device is provided in the lower tool part and is actuated by way of a pressure pin. For the actuation, the slide or an element fixedly connected with the slide is used, the slide, in turn, being driven by the press drive. A hydraulic force transmitting device in the lower tool part permits a liberal tool construction and an arrangement of corresponding force transmitting devices for the at least temporary coupling between the slide and the hydraulic force transmitting device at points which hinder neither the access to the tool nor the workpiece transfer.

Abstract: A method of forming a stator for a stepping motor, including the steps of forming comb teeth by cutting a flat section of a plate having a cylindrical section around the flat section and bending the comb teeth up to a first angle. Next, the comb teeth are bent up to a second angle larger than the first angle and the thickness of the comb teeth is reduced so as to render uniform the thickness of all the comb teeth. Then, the cylindrical section is subjected to a drawing process at least one time. Finally, the comb teeth are bent up to a right angle. As a result, the occurrence of cambers in the comb teeth is eliminated and the comb teeth are not inclined in the peripheral direction. Also, the accuracy with which the comb teeth are bent to a right angle can be improved thereby.

  • Patent number: 4041753
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for use in a press brake to be actuated between the ram and bed of such an apparatus to cut and form metal workpieces. The ram of the press brake receives a striker bar that engages a force member to coact with a bed member of the attachment to perform cutting and forming operations. The bed member of the attachment is fixed to the bed of the press brake and includes: a rigidly supported shear plate defining at least one recess to supportably receive a length of linear stock, and a yield block yieldably aligned with the rigidly supported shear plate which also defines at least one recess to supportably receive a length of linear stock. The force member is spring mounted above the bed member for separation from the bed member, and includes a movable shear plate defining at least one extension that is complementary to the recess in a rigidly supported shear plate, the two shear plates being supported in offset alignment.

  • Patent number: 4020669
Abstract: The invention concerns a bending machine for bar or rod material such as reinforcement bars for reinforcing concrete. The machine includes a bending mandrel which is stationary during the bending process and a bending tool which can be pivoted about the mandrel. Directly in front of the bending mandrel in the direction of the feed path of the bar or rod material are positioned two clamping cheeks movable relative to one another in a direction perpendicular to the feed path of the material, the cheeks each including a clamping face substantially parallel with the feed path and a cutting face substantially perpendicular to the respective clamping face, the lines of intersection of these faces forming cutting edges substantially parallel with one another.

  • Patent number: 4014201
Abstract: Method for forming a symmetrically bifurcated terminal portion on an existing truss web component having a tubular medial portion and flattened web ends comprises shearing one of the web ends for removing tubing skin from its longitudinal margins, forming two unsupported side walls, and then flattening the side walls. The flattened side walls are wedged apart, separating them relative to one another and forming the symmetrically bifurcated terminal portion. The opposed web end is flattened, forming a comparatively large flattened terminal portion. The apparatus includes a frame having mounted thereon shearing means, splitting means, flattening means, and drive means for accomplishing the foregoing operations.

  • Patent number: 4003235
Abstract: A multifinger contact device is produced by a series of deforming stations which compress the fingers into die cavities decreasing the width of the fingers while severing the adjacent fingers from one another, by deforming the adjacent fingers first in one direction and then in the other to decrease the formation of burrs. A subsequent forming station may be utilized to confine the entire periphery of the finger so as to form opposing longitudinal edges on adjacent fingers into noncontacting curved surfaces.

  • Patent number: 3972215
Abstract: A support means is provided with a pair of fixed dies aligned in spaced, horizontal relationship for receiving a metal strip having a base portion with edge portions extending in planes different from that of the base portion to be cut. Cutting die means are movably carried by the support means with actuating means connected to the movable die means for cutting the base portion and the edge portion of the metal strip supported on the spaced fixed dies with the cutting dies being shaped so that the angle cut on the base portion by the cutting die means is different from the angle cut by the cutting die means on the edge portions of the metal strip.

  • Patent number: 3956917
Abstract: A method and apparatus for cutting and forming planar strip material which is particularly useful in the fully automatic, high volume production of precision, microminiature multifid electronic brushes. With the apparatus of the invention, high quality electronic brushes are produced automatically from a continuous thin strip of metal or metal alloy. At predetermined locations along the length of the strip, the material is cut so as to form a multiplicity of precisely spaced apart longitudinally extending slits or incisions. The material is then automatically cut transversely of the slits so as to form a multiplicity of precisely spaced apart outwardly extending fingers. The fingers are then formed in a forming die to the cross-sectional configuration desired for end product use.

  • Patent number: 3943745
Abstract: Apparatus for piercing and coining a metal workpiece is provided. The apparatus includes a punch and a back-up die which accomplish the piercing, and a coining die located around the punch and movable with respect thereto to accomplish the coining. The punch and coining die are driven by a hydraulic ram which enables the overall apparatus to be relatively compact as compared to most heavy-duty dies and is adaptable for use at a station in a machine which also performs other operations on the workpiece. The workpiece is held precisely in position by a plurality of locators including adjustable fingers which contact and position the workpiece.
