Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a bending method for a multi-layered pipe according to which a multi-layered pipe can be bent while maintaining a stable gap between an inner pipe and an outer pipe and between outer pipes. In this method, an inside mandrel is inserted into the inner pipe of the multi-layered pipe, a tubular outside mandrel is inserted into the annular space between the inner pipe and outer pipe, the multi-layered pipe is clamped to a bending die by a clamping die, the multi-layered pipe is held at the rear of a bending portion of the multi-layered pipe by a pressure die and a crease-removing die, and the multi-layered pipe is bent by causing the clamping die to revolve around the bending die.

  • Patent number: 6718812
Abstract: A method for making a beam from a metal sheet (10), includes the steps of providing a metal sheet having opposite first and second side edges (12, 14) extending longitudinally along opposing sides of the metal sheet, and a first and a second generally parallel opposing face surfaces (16, 18) provided between the first and second edges. The first and second generally parallel opposing faces define a thickness of the metal sheet therebetween. The thickness of the metal sheet is split at one of the first and second side edges to form first and second integral flanges (28, 30, 32, 34) from a portion of the metal sheet such that inner ends of the first and second flanges remain integrally connected with an unsplit portion (44) of the metal sheet. The first and second flanges are then bent so as to provide the metal sheet with a tubular portion extending along one side of and integrally formed with the unsplit portion. The first and second flanges are then fixed against movement relative to one another.

  • Publication number: 20040035176
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for manufacturing an aluminum tube, an aluminum tube for further processing in at least one subsequent deformation process, as well as the use of the aluminum tube. The object of providing a simple method for manufacturing an aluminum tube with elevated deformation potential is solved by texturing the outer surface of the aluminum tube using temper rolls. The application of a texture using temper rolls yields a sufficiently high roughness on the surface of the aluminum tube on the one hand, so that the strain can be increased in subsequent deformation processes. On the other hand, while the roughening of the surface can be integrated into existing manufacturing processes, e.g., for straight bead welded or extruded aluminum tubes a swift and easy manufacture of the semi-finished product is enabled.

  • Patent number: 6601301
Abstract: Process for making jewels such as necklaces, bracelets or the like with different colors on at least two of their faces in sight so that a user can choose to put on the necklace or jewel so as to show one face or the other of the jewel according to the wished color, for instance the user can show a white gold face or a yellow gold face. In general, the process in question consists of a first phase in which noble metal bands (3, 4) showing different colors are put near each other. Then, the bands (3, 4) are coupled by welding (6) and are subjected to a second working phase in which they are bent and welded longitudinally so as to obtain a pipe (19) showing a multiple color. From this pipe (19) it is possible to obtain hollow links to be then mounted and fixed on a flexible core.

  • Patent number: 5265335
Abstract: An inner sliding surface layer of a bearing bushing is formed into a crowning shape in an axial direction by a die shaping method. A bushing blank fitted on a generally-tapered lower end portion of an upper mandrel is inserted, together with the upper mandrel, into a hole in a forming die, and the bushing blank is deformed between the forming die, the upper mandrel and a lower mandrel having an upper end portion similar in shape to the lower end portion of the upper mandrel, thereby obtaining the bushing having the sliding inner peripheral surface of a crowning shape.

Abstract: A glide support assembly for adjustably mounting a glide on an article, such as a divider panel for dividing a building into a room area. This particularly relates to the details of a support tube arrangement which is inexpensively constructed from sheet metal and is rolled into a tubular form. An upper portion of the tube is provided with axial lances while below the axial lances there are transverse lances which serve to support a washer which restricts the penetration of the upper portion of the tube into the article. In order to save metal, the lower portion of the tube is of a reduced diameter.

  • Patent number: 4846392
Abstract: A die-drawing and/or extrusion device is described for producing uniform and tapered metal and composite tubes from flatstock and for reducing the size of solid stock and formed tubes therefrom, and lamination of compatable materials in one operation. The die comprises opposed die elements having curved helical tracks or grooves which follow a central orifice through which the flatstock, solid stock, tubes, etc., are pulled and/or pushed. Wedge-shaped shaping and alignment elements are positioned in the helical tracks in contact with the dies to align the feedstock with the die orifice, and to prevent the metal sheet or tube, rod, etc., from being drawn in between the tangential surfaces of the dies. The extent of product taper is determined by the pull rate applied to the feedstock in conjunction with the rotational rate of the dies, which can be varied continuously.

Abstract: A method for providing a tubular node in framework truss structures, such as offshore platforms for oil drilling and production activities of the type consisting of interconnected legs and braces of steel tube elements. For formation of the transition between leg and brace in the node is utilized a blank of rolled plate steel, which is given the desired curved shape corresponding to the curvature of the leg. The blank is pressed or extruded in a suitable press tool formed with an outwardly extending brace stub at the desired angle, which brace stub is designed for welding to a complementary brace tubing in the framework. Thereafter, the blank with the brace stub is welded into the leg proper and constitutes a wall segment of the leg in the node.
