Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for generating nano patterns upon material surfaces. The method for generating nano patterns upon material surfaces comprises the following steps: providing a thin film capable of controlling lattice directions, applying a nanoindentation action to the thin film to generate an indentation at a specific position on the thin film. At least one hillock is then generated in a specific direction to generate a pattern and to be applied to a data storage system.

Such a blank may be formed by a stamping operation typically from a suitable grade of stainless steel. The central region of the blank is bent round into a U-shape with the two end portions substantially parallel. Either concurrently with the bending operation or subsequent thereto, the central region is subjected to a cold-forming operation in the transverse direction of the central region, to reduce the width thereof and to provide a radius to the long edges of that central region.

Abstract: “The dent removal industry utilizes specialized tools and techniques to remove automobile dents. This invention is unique because it uses strong magnet(s) attached to the tool tip introducing a magnetic field thru sheet metal. The magnetic material can be neodymium iron boron (NdFeB), samarium cobalt (SmCo), or other strong magnetic material. A magnetic dust applied on the painted surface of the sheet metal near the dent indicates the tips position. Sliding the tip on the underside of the sheet metal near the dust and dent collects the material at the tip's position. Identification of the tip's location reduces the number of pressure flexes, eliminates the need for specialized lighting, frees the technician's posture, and does not require extensive and costly training. This invention and technique greatly improves the ease, accuracy, and speed of removing dents. Untrained individuals can thus remove dents.

Abstract: A rotary fill slide assembly for a sheet metal forming die that has a working element that performs an operation on a portion of a sheet metal blank. The rotary fill slide assembly has a motor that is controlled based upon a press cycle timing mechanism. The rotary fill slide is assembled to the die to fill a space adjacent to a portion of the blank when the blank is in position for the working element to perform the operation on the blank. A linkage connects the motor to the rotary fill slide. The motor drives the linkage in synchronization with the press cycle to fill the space during the period of time that the working element performs the operation on the blank.

The techniques include methods for precision bending of a sheet of material (41, 241, 341, 441, 541) along a bend line (45, 245, 345, 445, 543) and a sheet of material formed with bending strap-defining structures, such as slits or grooves (43, 243, 343, 443, 542), are disclosed. Methods include steps of designing and then separately forming longitudinally extending slits or grooves (43, 243, 343, 443, 542) through the sheet of material in axially spaced relation to produce precise bending of the sheet (41, 241, 341, 441, 541) when bent along the bend line (45, 245, 345, 445, 543). The bending straps have a configuration and orientation which increases their strength and fatigue resistance, and most preferably slits or arcs are used which causes edges (257, 457) to be engaged and supported on faces (255, 455) of the sheet material on opposite sides of the slits or arcs.
