  • Patent number: 5782124
Abstract: The high force rebar bending machine comprises a frame which carries a bending die. An arm is pivoted to swing around the bending die with a bending roller thereon. Rebar engaged by the bending roller is bent around the die as the arm swings. A fluid cylinder has its piston connected to a cable. The cable is wrapped around a large drive wheel which, in turn, is connected to the arm so that bending force is multiplied. The entire structure is sufficiently compact and light to be portable for use at a job site.

  • Patent number: 5730020
Abstract: An apparatus for straightening arrowheads is designed to be used to straighten bent arrowheads so that the arrowheads, once straightened, may later be used in archery activities. To straighten a bent arrowhead, one removes or retracts any blades of the arrowhead (if possible) and attaches the arrowhead to a rotatable shaft. The rotatable shaft is free to rotate through the shaft aperture in the shaft housing, and the shaft housing is attached to the base of the device. To straighten the arrowhead, one applies pressure to the high side of the tip end of the arrowhead and, if desired, rotates the rotatable shaft so that the pressure is evenly applied to the high side of the tip end. The apparatus employs a pressure screw and a pressure band to effectively apply pressure to the arrowhead.

  • Patent number: 4526025
Abstract: A bending mechanism for wire or strip material is provided, which is intended in particular for bending back towards the edge longitudinal wires the projecting end portions of crosswires of reinforcement grids for reinforced concrete construction. The mechanism comprises a substantially circular-sectioned cylindrical bending form, and a bending-tool eccentrically mounted on a rotatable tool carrier which can be rotated in either direction about the axis of the bending-form. The bending-form is shiftable along said axis between a working position, in which the end faces of said tool carrier and said bending-form are substantially touching, and a rest position in which said two end faces define between them a gap for the passage of a wire which is to be bent, in particular a crosswire of a reinforcement grid.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided for bending a welded wire fabric into a desired shape for use in reinforcing concrete. The apparatus includes an elongated frame and a plurality of anvils mounted on the frame around which the wires of the fabric are to be bent. The frame is divided into right-hand and left-hand sides along its length by a vertical plane passing the anvil axes. A first forming bar is on the right-hand side of the plane along the length of the frame. The first forming bar is mounted to pivot with respect to the anvils about a point on the left-hand side of the plane. A second forming bar is on the left-hand side of the plane along the length of the frame. The second forming bar is mounted to pivot with respect to the anvils about a point on the right-hand side of the plane. Means are provided for pivoting each forming bar to bring it into contact with the wires to be bent and for bending the wires around the anvils.

Abstract: Earth well drilling apparatus including piping in a well, a metal drilling tube within the piping, and a hydraulic jet drilling head secured to the lower end of the tube. A seal is disposed between the piping and the tube. The drilling head is urged downwardly through the piping under hydraulic pressure through a tube bneding assembly laterally extensible from a retracted position substantially within the structure. The hydraulic pressure propels the tube downwardly through the piping and bending assembly to bend the tube and to direct the drilling head laterally toward the formation.

Abstract: The disclosure concerns a smooth continuous steel trough, free of longitudinal weld joints except for a flanged frame attached to its open top for supporting a cover grating. The apparatus for performing these steps comprises a conveyor table for moving and clamping a parallel edged sheet of steel while it is cut, such as by a torch, to predetermined length sides, and angled ends corresponding to the flow pitch for the resulting trough. The resulting isosceles trapezoidal section is then conveyed and aligned under an oscillatable convex mandrel or roller having a longitudinal clamping rib axially along its periphery for clamping the trapezoidal sheet near its center at the bottom of what is to be one of the equal side walls of the resulting trough. The conveyor and/or support for the sheet at the mandrel is vertically adjustable to compensate for different size mandrels and thicknesses of the sheets.

  • Patent number: 4462237
Abstract: In producing compound plates, such as compound glass panes, two individual plates are held in opposed spaced parallel relation with a frame located between them and extending along the edges of the plates so that the frame connects the plates together. In assembling the compound plates, the frame is formed by removing a flat strip from a supply source and conveying it to a bending station. While the strip is moved to the bending station or in the bending station a number of miter cuts are formed spaced apart in the long direction of the strip so that the miter cuts separate the strip into connected subsections. The miter cuts are located to correspond to the intersecting edges of the plates. The strip is bent or folded along lines extending in its long direction into a hollow section. Subsequently, the hollow section is formed into a frame by bending the connected subsections at the miter cuts.

  • Patent number: 4446713
Abstract: A pipe bending machine (10) is described which incorporates a bending die (14) which supports coated pipe during bending without damaging the coating. In one embodiment, the bending die (14) employs a conventional die (30) with a plurality of longitudinal rods (40, 42, 44) spaced from the inner surface of the die (30) and in pipe confronting relation. When the pipe is urged against the bending die in the machine, the rods precompress the material thereunder for transmitting the bending forces. The rods (40, 42, 44) are spaced a sufficient distance from each other in the transverse direction about the inner surface of the die to permit the material to flow outward therebetween to reduce the stresses in the coating. In a second embodiment, a plurality of transversely extending rings (62, 64 66) are positioned on the inner surface of a conventional die (30) which further act to support bending forces without damage to the coating.
