  • Patent number: 11097326
Abstract: A method for producing open-seam pipes from sheet metal panels, in particular thick sheet metal panels. A sheet metal panel, having bending edges on the long sides thereof, is fed to a pipe forming press where the sheet metal panel is formed, lying on a lower tool having of two supporting elements which are horizontally spaced apart from each other, by an upper tool, which can be raised and lowered, by application of a bending force, progressively into an open-seam pipe having bending edges on opposite long sides with a gap for later longitudinal seam welding. In order that the sheet metal panel can be easily, progressively formed or shaped from the start, at least the bending sections immediately adjacent on the bending edges of the sheet metal panel are each formed from the outside to the inside, deviating from a numerically ascending bending step sequence in a pilgering process sequence.

  • Patent number: 9296034
Abstract: An apparatus for forming a wave form for a stent from a wire includes a pair of tension wires configured to rotate about an axis. The tension wires and axis are substantially orthogonal to the stent wire disposed in a gap between the tension wires. When the tension wires are rotated, a bend is formed in the portion of the stent wire disposed between the tension wires. The tension wires may be controlled such that the axis of rotation is aligned with the particular tension wire around which the stent wire is to be bent for each particular bend formed in the stent wire, thereby preventing the particular tension wire from translating during rotation such that the tension wire behaves like a rotary pipe bending die around which the stent wire is bent. A feed assembly feeds the stent wire into the forming area between the tension wires.

  • Patent number: 8707750
Abstract: The invention relates to such a method and apparatus, as well as to the resulting deformed object out of a relatively hard material such as e.g. a metal or plastic wire in which an undeformed section (2) is clamped near its ends (3, 4) and is subsequently upset in a controlled way by an axial pressure force (22) to a predefined shortened and thickened longitudinal section (5), with which simultaneously over substantially the entire contour sheath (19) of this section (2) a counterforce (29) is exerted so that, with the progressive deformation during upsetting, the total volume of the longitudinal section that is deforming, remains substantially constant. In this thickened section (5) a flattened zone (8) can subsequently be applied in order to realise a final shape (10) such as an opening (26). The invention concerns in particular also the use of a deformation line (40) for manufacturing a heddle for weaving looms.

  • Patent number: 4576031
Abstract: A quick disconnect arbor and die head for a tube stock sizing apparatus. A plurality of arbors and die heads are slidably mounted to a tube stock sizing apparatus and are respectively urged into engagement with the inwardly facing and outwardly facing surfaces of a section of tube stock. A hydraulic piston arrangement is operable to move the arbor members and die heads to and from the tube stock. An annular member surrounds the arbor members and die heads. Spring biased pins mounted in the annular member releasably engage and secure the arbor members to the annular member. An external tool is engageable with the top end of each pin to pull the pins upwardly disengaging the arbor members. A rod extends through the annular member and contacts the pin and secures the pin in the upward disengaged position. Each die head includes a leg with a recess extending freely into a hole.

  • Patent number: 4515006
Abstract: A hose coupling crimper and method of crimping in which a pair of die plate halves are hingedly mounted on a base plate for swinging movement toward and away from a closed position with the crimping segments surrounding an opening in the base plate in which a hose and sleeve coupling is positioned. The die plate halves have radial slots for radially movable crimping segments and also restraining ring halves contained in the die plate halves for retaining the segments in the slots and determining the axial movement of the pressure ring and the crimp diameter by the thickness of the restraining ring halves. Hose and sleeve couplings of a different diameter may be crimped by using restraining ring halves of different thicknesses and/or replacing the crimping segments with segments having different diameters.

  • Patent number: 4488423
Abstract: A machine for straightening an elongated workpiece has a plurality of coacting tools which include first and second sets of tools arranged in alternate series along a fixed longitudinal axis to engage successive longitudinally spaced portions of a workpiece positioned therebetween with its longitudinal center line generally aligned with a longitudinal axis. A cam operated lever system simultaneously reciprocates the tools of the first and second sets in opposite transverse directions relative to the longitudinal axis and each other to alternately displace portions of the center line of the workpiece to one and the opposite side of the longitudinal axis. A mechanism is provided to vary the magnitude of reciprocating lever movement to vary center line displacement between a position of maximum displacement and a position wherein workpiece portions are substantially longitudinally aligned.

  • Patent number: 4445357
Abstract: A pipe press having a main press section and at least one end press section aligned with the main section for movement with and independently of the main section. The press is designed to accommodate elongate heavy gauge steel pipe blanks having lengths varying between the length of the main section and the combined composite length of the main and end sections. Because of the independence of the end section relative to the main section, the main section is loaded uniformly, even though a blank may be of a length less than the combined composite length of the press. The end press section is free to move axially relative to the main press section to accommodate elongation of a blank during operation of the press. Actuating cylinders for the press are arranged in paired sets extending transversely of the press dies to provide increased load capacity, without resorting to the use of extraordinarily large cylinders.
