Abstract: A die set comprising a pair of die members one ofwhich is provided with discretely mounted and independently laterally movable die elements cooperable with extending leg portions on the other die member to provide a variable opening die nest to assist in releasing a ferrule or similar article therefrom after the deforming operation.
Abstract: A wire connector crimping device including a base having a generally flat underside and provided on its upperside with a plurality of receivers for conformably receiving different size wire connectors to be crimped, a rocker pivotally mounted over the base and having a plurality of crimping formations for crimping relation with respective receivers, and limit means limiting the crimping formations to movement into their crimping relation with respective receivers.
Abstract: The wall of a thin walled hollow member such as the ferrule portion of an electrical terminal or the like is subjected to a longitudinal pinching force which may be applied by one or more pair of spaced parallel elongate forming surfaces at selective locations along the length of the perimeter of the thin walled member to produce one or more obliquely angled double thickness fins which are then subjected to an inwardly directed radial force causing the fins to be folded back against the outer surface of the hollow member which is thus tightly contracted about a further member located within the hollow member.
Abstract: Forming of wire contacting jaws for a channel type electrical terminal of conductive sheet metal is disclosed, without diminishing the length of the terminal, by first obtaining a stretching of the conductive metal into a preliminary displaced configuration in a first die. Then in a second die, reverse forming and coining the metal into a jaw formation deeper and narrower than the first configuration. Then in a third die, substantially removing the reverse curvature, with added coining and stretching of the metal, into a final jaw formation which is deeper and narrower than that obtained in the second die, without rupture of the metal. Slight reverse curvature is retained adjacent the juncture of the sides of the jaw with the body of the terminal.
Abstract: A golf club bending machine for adjusting the club head with reference to the shaft, to vary the position of the head to change the loft and lie angles of the club face in accordance with the user's swing. The device is provided with a clamp to hold the club in position while bending the neck of the club to a predetermined angle, and having a hydraulic power bending unit designed to bend the neck of the club in one position to adjust the lie, and movable into another position to bend the neck of the club to adjust the loft to a predetermined angle.
Abstract: A selectively applied crimping force is utilized to provide a stepped crimp to an electrical connection to create a discrete sacrificial anode from base conductor material thereby providing a controlled zone of corrosion which substantially increases the integrity and life of the electrical connection. This effect is achieved by crimping one portion of the connector to a greater extent than the remaining portion thereby extruding and work hardening a given length of the conductor to a predetermined degree to selectively alter the physical characteristics thereof. The degree to which each segment of the wire receiving portion of the connector is compressed may be defined as a ratio encompassing a given range of values designed to optimize the selective corrosion effect. Also disclosed are crimping dies for effecting the selectively stepped crimp, which dies are suitably proportioned to provide the necessary ratio of maximum to minimum crimp height.
