Threaded Means Comprising "fastener" Patents (Class 72/481.7)
  • Patent number: 8091403
Abstract: A bodymaker ram attachment has a screwed locator (60), which is fastened to a slide block (70) of the bodymaker and can be aligned to the machine. A new ram with an internal thread and location diameter is screwed onto the locator. A clamp ring (65) tightens a locking element (80) so as to fix the ram (50) to the locator (60) when screws (68), which fasten the clamp ring to the locator, are tightened. The advantage of this new attachment is that the ram can be removed quickly by loosening the clamp ring and locking element then unscrewing the ram from the locator. The ram can then be removed and replaced by sliding through the front of the machine without the need for further disassembly.

  • Patent number: 7628053
Abstract: A hold-down device is provided for securing graphic arts die plates or die to flat bed or rotary chases having a series of generally cylindrical, hold-down device-receiving cavities. The chase cavities have an innermost portion of greater diameter than the outermost portion of the cavity, presenting a downwardly-facing shoulder therebetween. The device, which is adapted to be inserted in one of the cavities, has a pair of opposed, generally semi-circular anchor members. A fulcrum component positioned between the anchor members has a generally circular fulcrum section received in respective, opposed internal grooves in the anchor members. A lock ring that interconnects the ends of the members remote from the fulcrum section, biases those ends toward one another. When the device is installed in a cavity, the ends of the anchor members are forced toward one another to an extent that the device will fit within the outermost portion of the cavity.

  • Publication number: 20080295567
Abstract: A punch press die holder assembly includes a die holder body with a fixed rim which partially surrounds an upwardly opening die receptacle within the die holder. The receptacle is dimensioned to receive a punch press die, especially of any various circular dies now in commercial use. Cooperating with the fixed rim portion of the die holder is a moveable clamp member that is a portion of the rim that has a centrally directed surface which contacts the die when the die is in place within the receptacle. A manually operable fastener is operatively connected to the moveable clamp member to hold the clamp member in a closed position for restricting the movement of the die and the fastener is movable by hand to an open position for releasing the clamp member and the die from the die holder so that the die can then be removed and replaced from one side by sliding it horizontally out of the die holder.

  • Patent number: 7409845
Abstract: A machine arrangement includes a plurality of machines arranged to cooperate with each other in a manner which comprises a machine line. This machine line incorporates apparatus which is associated with and/or comprises part of the machines for: at least one of moving, holding, manipulating and shaping cans as they pass from a can infeed to a can discharge of the machine line and move along a path having a predetermined configuration. This apparatus minimizes operations necessary for changing from a set up suitable for modifying a can having a first set of dimensions to a set up suitable for a can having a second set of dimensions.

  • Patent number: 7100417
Abstract: An improved lower die assembly is provided which allows a given lower die in a pressing machine to be replaced with another easily and in a short period of time relative to a die holder. In the lower die assembly in which a lower die is received and securely held in a die holder, the improvement comprises: a clamp means whereby the lower die when unclamped is received in the die holder so that the lower die can be extracted from the die holder upwards and then when clamped is securely held therein; and a lift means disposed below the lower die and whereby the lower die when unclamped is raised above an upper end of the die holder.
