  • Patent number: 7942030
Abstract: A die assembly is provided, which is structured to be affixed to a shell press. The die assembly includes at least one die shoe having first and second opposing ends, and a number of divisions between the first end and the second end. The divisions are structured to divide the at least one die shoe into a plurality of pieces to accommodate thermal expansion. Each of the divisions between the pieces of the at least one die shoe has a profile. Preferably, the profile is not straight. Each of the divisions of the at least one die shoe form a gap between the pieces of the die shoe, thereby spacing the pieces apart from one another. The pieces are independently coupled to a corresponding mounting surface of the shell press. A shell press and a method for employing the die assembly in a shell press are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7628053
Abstract: A hold-down device is provided for securing graphic arts die plates or die to flat bed or rotary chases having a series of generally cylindrical, hold-down device-receiving cavities. The chase cavities have an innermost portion of greater diameter than the outermost portion of the cavity, presenting a downwardly-facing shoulder therebetween. The device, which is adapted to be inserted in one of the cavities, has a pair of opposed, generally semi-circular anchor members. A fulcrum component positioned between the anchor members has a generally circular fulcrum section received in respective, opposed internal grooves in the anchor members. A lock ring that interconnects the ends of the members remote from the fulcrum section, biases those ends toward one another. When the device is installed in a cavity, the ends of the anchor members are forced toward one another to an extent that the device will fit within the outermost portion of the cavity.

  • Patent number: 7204115
Abstract: An axial thread-rolling head comprising a shank and a bearing unit held by said shank and having the profiled rolling dies wherein said shank has an elongate gripping portion, a first clutch portion, a supporting portion for the bearing unit, and a driver portion for a central toothed gear of said bearing unit and said bearing unit has a second clutch portion which is in engagement with said first clutch portion when said bearing unit and said shank are in a coupled position because of a spring bias, and is out of engagement when said bearing unit and said shank are axially moved apart, against said spring bias, to a separating position, which allows said bearing unit to perform a relative rotation on said shank, wherein said gripping portion and said clutch portion, on one hand, and said supporting portion and said driver portion, on the other hand, define separate components which are axially fixed and fixed for rotation via connecting portions, but are adapted to be releasably connected to each other.

  • Patent number: 6543270
Abstract: A kit of parts for auto body dent repair includes a plurality of tool bodies (11) and a plurality of tips (80). Each tool body includes a rearward shaft (20) and handle (60). The rearward shafts of the various tool bodies include both those with compound (bent) shafts and simple (straight) shafts. The lengths of the tool bodies varies to fit different needs. Each tool body also includes a forward shaft (40), which is adjustably attached to a forward end of the rearward shaft. The appropriate tip may be installed on the forward end of the forward shaft of the appropriate tool body. As an alternative to the tips (80) and forward shafts (40), an integral dent repair tip (50) provides the functionality of a both in a single unit. In use, the appropriate tip (80), or integral dent repair tip (50), for the job may be installed on the appropriate tool body. The overall tool is then used to remove the dent from an auto body panel by applying force correctly to the inside surface of the body panel.
