  • Patent number: 7926399
Abstract: A punching assembly includes a die base, a sleeve, an adjusting screw, a pull portion, a latching block, an elastic element, a fixing ring and a stop member. A top of the die base is received in the sleeve. The adjusting screw includes a contact end, a mounted end inserting into the sleeve and connecting to the top of the die base, and a latching portion located between the contact end and the mounted end. The pull portion is disposed around the sleeve. The latching block engages the latching portion. The elastic element is disposed around the adjusting screw, supporting the latching block. The fixing ring surrounding the adjusting screw is fixed on the sleeve. The stop member, contiguous with the fixing ring, prevents axial movement of the adjusting screw.

  • Patent number: 7628053
Abstract: A hold-down device is provided for securing graphic arts die plates or die to flat bed or rotary chases having a series of generally cylindrical, hold-down device-receiving cavities. The chase cavities have an innermost portion of greater diameter than the outermost portion of the cavity, presenting a downwardly-facing shoulder therebetween. The device, which is adapted to be inserted in one of the cavities, has a pair of opposed, generally semi-circular anchor members. A fulcrum component positioned between the anchor members has a generally circular fulcrum section received in respective, opposed internal grooves in the anchor members. A lock ring that interconnects the ends of the members remote from the fulcrum section, biases those ends toward one another. When the device is installed in a cavity, the ends of the anchor members are forced toward one another to an extent that the device will fit within the outermost portion of the cavity.

  • Patent number: 7454944
Abstract: A machine arrangement includes a plurality of machines arranged to cooperate with each other in a manner which comprises a machine line. This machine line incorporates apparatus which is associated with and/or comprises part of the machines for: at least one of moving, holding, manipulating and shaping cans as they pass from a can infeed to a can discharge of the machine line and move along a path having a predetermined configuration. This apparatus minimizes operations necessary for changing from a set up suitable for modifying a can having a first set of dimensions to a set up suitable for a can having a second set of dimensions.

  • Patent number: 7096709
Abstract: A graphic arts die and support plate assembly is provided that is adapted to be mounted as a unit on the chase of a flat bed or rotary graphic arts press. The assembly includes a plurality of spaced individual dies fixedly mounted in predetermined relative relationship on a support plate member of the unit. Alignment holes in each die that register with orifices in the support plate member are adapted to receive temporary alignment pins thereby assuring correct positioning of the dies with respect to one another on the support plate member until the dies are affixed to the support plate member. Makeready and die lock-up time of the press is significantly decreased because all dies of the assembly may be preregistered with a design artwork before mounting of the die and support assembly on the press. A series of graphic arts die units are also provided that are adapted to be mounted as an assembly encompassing more than 180° of the circumference of a rotary press chase.

  • Patent number: 7069766
Abstract: An upper die holder apparatus having a holder body has an upper die clamp supported to the holder body with a supporting point supporting the upper die clamp in a vicinity of a center in a vertical direction of the holder body. A clamping force applier is provided to the holder body for pressing an upper portion of the upper die clamp so that the upper die clamp clamps the upper die. A pressure receiver is provided to an upper portion of the upper die clamp. The pressure receiver, having a pressure sensing surface, is provided so that its advancing and retreating are adjusted to a pressing direction by the clamping force applier and the pressure receiver is provided so that an opening amount of the upper die clamp at the time of unclamping is freely selected between a plurality of stages.

  • Patent number: 6895797
Abstract: A punch assembly for punching or forming sheet metal has a circumferentially extending, horizontally disposed supporting flange that is slideably mounted upon the body of the punch assembly as a part thereof for supporting the punch assembly on a punch press. A resilient tool retractor, e.g., one or more springs is provided within the punch assembly for retracting or elevating the body of punch assembly relative to the supporting flange. Provision is also made for enabling a person to manually change the tool length and thus the feed gap from the exterior of the punch assembly by controlling the distance that the upper forming tool, i.e., the punch extends downwardly below the supporting flange and a lock is provided for securely retaining it in a selected position.

  • Patent number: 6374660
Abstract: A quick-release apparatus for use with slide hammers includes a shaft adapter portion which is threaded onto the slide hammer shaft and at least one tool adapter portion which is threaded onto the hook or tool to be used. The shaft adapter portion and tool adapter portion are mechanically engaged and disengaged by pulling down on the locking collar on the shaft adapter portion and turning the tool adapter portion ninety degrees, then sliding the tool adapter portion off the shaft adapter. The same or different tool can then be installed by aligning the shaft adapter lugs with the slots on the tool adapter and pushing the tool adapter on, then turning the tool adapter ninety degrees until the positioning lugs on the locking collar engage.
