  • Patent number: 10880602
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a computer-implemented method and system for analyzing a user's facial responses to determine a user's approval or disapproval of a marketing campaign. Such a system may comprise open-source or commonly-implemented facial recognition hardware and software on smartphones, tablets, or computers, and may interface with the media-playing hardware on such devices. The system and method causes display of one or more media presentations to a plurality of users for measuring their facial gestures, wherein these facial gestures are associated with an approval or disapproval of one or more portions of the one or more media presentations. These face gestures may be recorded in a central server for data related to the individual and users in the aggregate and/or may be sent back to the developer of the one or more media presentations for analysis and/or editing.

Abstract: A system and method is provided for using biometric data from an individual to determine at least one emotion, mood, physical state, or mental state (“state”) of the individual, which is then used, either alone or together with other data, to provide the individual with certain web-based data. In one embodiment of the present invention, a Web host is in communication with at least one network device, where each network device is operated by an individual and is configured to communicate biometric data of the individual to the Web host. The Web host is then configured to use the biometric data to determine at least one state of the individual. The determined state, either alone or together with other data (e.g., interest data), is then used to provide the individual with certain content (e.g., web-based data) or to perform a particular action.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a user interface. The user interface can receive a single command to capture an image. An imager of the electronic device can capture at least the image in response to the single command to capture the image. One or more sensors of the electronic device can determine contextual input from an environment of the electronic device while the imager captures the image. One or more processors of the electronic device can then augment the image with a visible representation of the contextual input to create a single, still, augmented image.

  • Patent number: 10841625
Abstract: A video streaming client is configured to check whether a target version of a desired video content is available for streaming from a video streaming server, the target version being encoded to a target value of an encoding attribute. The video streaming client obtains a data communication speed to the video streaming server, and determines that the data communication speed is sufficient to stream and display the target version of the desired video content. The target value is less than a maximum value of the encoding attribute which is decodable by the video streaming client. The video streaming client is configured to select to stream the target version of the desired video content even though the data communication speed is sufficient to stream a version of the desired video content without playback interruption when encoded using a value of the encoding attribute which is higher than the target value.

  • Patent number: 10820056
Abstract: The systems and methods are described herein for playback of content based on progress point information. The systems and methods detect nearby media devices to transmit or request progress point information. Based on the communicated progress point information, the system may generate an option to play back content at a point within the content up to which content was last consumed. When content providers offer different versions of one content item and the user does not select to play back content from the content provider associated with the progress point information, the system determines a proper playback point in other content providers.

  • Patent number: 10755088
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for determining user behavior in an augmented reality environment. An augmented reality application executing on a computing system receives a video depicting a face of a person. The video includes a video frame. The augmented reality application augments the video frame with an image of an item selected via input from a user device associated with a user. The augmented reality application determines, from the video frame, a score representing an action unit. The action unit represents a muscle on the face of the person depicted by the video frame and the score represents an intensity of the action unit. The augmented reality application calculates, from a predictive model and based on the score, an indicator of intent of the person depicted by the video.
