Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing encoding or decoding of adaptive bitrate streams. In various embodiments, one or more first computing systems may divide a live media content stream into one or more segments, each segment might include a starting segment boundary and an ending segment boundary. The one or more first computing systems might encode the one or more segments into one or more primary adaptive bitrate streams. The one or more first computing systems might also divide the one or more segments of the live media content stream into one or more subsegments. Each subsegment might be less than a length of a corresponding segment of the one or more segments. The one or more first computing systems might the encode and/or a second computing system might decode the one or more subsegments into or from one or more secondary adaptive bitrate streams.

Abstract: There is provided a recall and triggering system and method for the control of on-air graphics at remote locations. The system including a television network and an affiliated station, the television network configured to insert a command into a video and transmit the video including the command to the affiliated station, and the affiliated station configured to receive the video including the command from the television network, store the video in the memory, detect the command from the video stored in the memory, retrieve the data from a database based on the command, modify the video using the data to generate a modified video, and transmit the modified video to a display device. The database may be stored in the memory of the affiliated station or on a separate server. The data may include graphics, content, databases, spreadsheets, tables, websites, news, or other graphical content.

Abstract: A multimedia device is configured to process video data via a related method. The multimedia device includes a processor in communication with a panel. The processor is configured to output the video data to the panel when being switched into a video unmute mode, and further to not output the video data to the panel when being switched into a first video mute mode. The processor is further configured to execute media retrieval and visual processing in response to the first video mute mode.

Abstract: Messaging services for providing updates for multimedia content delivered over the Internet for a live event. In one embodiment, a messaging server provides real-time updates for multimedia content of a live event delivered over the Internet to multiple media players that request the multimedia content over the Internet. In one embodiment, the real-time updates indicate when the multimedia content is available for delivery over the Internet. In another embodiment, the real-time updates can be used to dynamically insert advertisement markers for advertisement breaks in the multimedia content.

Abstract: The disclosure includes a doorbell having a visitor detection system that can comprise at least one of a camera, a microphone, and a motion detector. The method for using the doorbell can comprise recording, via the camera, video data that represents a video. The method can also comprise recording, via the microphone, audio data that represents audio. The method of using the doorbell can comprise transmitting at least a portion of the video data and at least a portion of the audio data, to a remote computing device that is communicatively coupled to the doorbell. The method can also comprise transmitting the video data and the audio data to a remote server that is communicatively coupled to the doorbell.

Abstract: Certain exemplary embodiments relate to entertainment systems that interact with users to provide access to media appropriate to and/or customized for a particular user using the entertainment system, the location at which the entertainment system is being accessed, and/or a predefined event. For example, in certain exemplary embodiments, an entertainment system in a location is configured to provide jukebox-related and entertainment system mediated services that are accessible from within and from the outside of the location, and provide (1) attract or flight media operations, (2) browsing services, and/or (3) search screens appropriate to and/or customized for a particular user using the entertainment system, the location at which the entertainment system is being accessed, and/or a predefined event. Such screens may be provided with a three-dimensional look-and-feel in certain exemplary embodiments.

Abstract: Techniques are described for expanding and/or improving the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) 3.0 television protocol in robustly delivering the next generation broadcast television services. ATSC 3.0 applications may be launched based on partial validation, e.g., as soon as one level of validation passes, with ensuing layers being authenticated as the application commences launch and with launch being stopped if any layer fails validation.

Abstract: There is provided a system including a memory and a processor configured to stream a media content for playback to a first media device for viewing by a first user, receive, while streaming the media content, an input from the first media device indicating an insertion point in the media content selected by the first user for inserting a contextual message provided by the first user, receive the contextual message from the first media device, stream the media content for playback to a second media device for viewing by a second user, and deliver the contextual message to the second media device for viewing by the second user when streaming the media content to the second media device reaches the insertion point.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for prioritizing system memory for separate isolated computing workspaces (e.g., cloud-based software containers) that are executing together on an information handling system by reallocating higher performance system memory to higher-ranked computing workspace/s. In one example, the disclosed systems and methods may be implemented to optimize system memory usage for memory-heavy heterogeneous workloads of workspaces that are simultaneously executing together as modern clients on an information handling system.

An indication that a user device has initiated a casting session with a display device can be received. A request for recommended content to be presented on the display device can be received. A media content item can be identified based on at least one media content item that has been previously selected by a user account associated with the user device. A notification can be generated that includes an indication of the identified media content item and a selectable input that, when selected, causes the identified media content item to begin being presented on the display device.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method, comprising: obtaining motion indicators for a plurality of samples of a video stream; obtaining an anomaly state for each of a plurality of time windows of the video stream, each of the time windows spanning a subset of the samples, by (i) obtaining estimated statistical parameters for the given time window based on measured statistical parameters characterizing the motion indicators for the samples in at least one time window of the video stream that precedes the given time window and (ii) determining the anomaly state for the given time window based on the plurality of motion indicators obtained for the samples in the given time window and the estimated statistical parameters; and processing the video stream based on the anomaly state for various ones of the time windows.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for porting locally processed media data with low latency to a remote client device via various wireless links are provided. In one example embodiment, a transceiver module may include a local network interface and a controller that may receive a client control signal from a client device over a wireless local area network via the local network interface, transmit a media control signal based on the client control signal to a media device, receive media data based on the media control signal from the media device, and transmit to the client device over the wireless local area network via the local network interface client data based on the media data and a low-latency compression technique. The receipt of the media data and transmission of the client data may be accomplished with substantially no detectable latency. Additional embodiments are also provided.

The switch node processes a first memory access request transmitted by the first processing node based on the task information, for the first pooled memory node, based on the memory address range.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture to credit media segments shared among multiple media assets are disclosed. Example methods disclosed herein include comparing a sequence of monitored media signatures with a library of reference signatures to determine a signature match, the monitored media signatures representative of a monitored media presentation. Disclosed example methods also include determining a duration and an offset of the signature match, the offset to represent a position of the signature match relative to a start of a reference media asset associated with the signature match. Disclosed example methods further include crediting a segment of the monitored media presentation represented by the signature match to an identifier of a class of media assets including the reference media asset in response to a determination that (i) the duration of the signature match does not exceed a first threshold and (ii) the offset does not exceed a second threshold.

Abstract: Systems and methods for reducing distractions from nearby devices when content susceptible to interruption is being consumed. Content susceptible to interruption is determined, and when this content is consumed on one device, nearby devices are identified and their output characteristics are modified. For example, output volume of nearby devices may be reduced, or the volume of the first device may be increased. This process is repeated with different devices as they each output content determined to be susceptible to interruption. Consumers are thus presented with fewer distractions from surrounding devices while they are consuming content that is susceptible to interruption.

Abstract: The present invention concerns a method for generating media files from video sequences, the method comprising by a server: obtaining from the video sequences, video data composed of a plurality of samples; generating a video track based on the obtained video data, each video track comprises samples of a video sequence, and the video track is associated with descriptive metadata, the descriptive metadata comprises: a spatial information related to one or more samples of the associated video track; and a composition information for organizing generated video tracks to get a full picture when displayed by a client; and generating media files including the generated video tracks.

Abstract: Systems and methods for file transfer and processing in a network environment are disclosed. In one embodiment, the system may comprise one or more processors. The one or more processors may be coupled to a first device. The one or more processors may be configured to retrieve a file from a file queue. The file may be stored in a local store of the first device. The file may be transferred from a second remote device via Remote Direct Memory Access. The one or more processors may further be configured to determine if the file is complete. The one or more processors may further be configured to remove the file from the file queue, if the file is determined to be complete.

Abstract: An exemplary geographic playlist system includes a plurality of mobile devices with global positioning systems that provide geographic location information of the mobile device to a geographic location playlist device. The geographic location playlist device has a database of geographic playlist information that includes at least a unique identifier for each one of a plurality of media content events and at least one associated geographic location for each of the plurality of media content events. The geographic location playlist device determines a current geographic location of the mobile device, compares the geographic location of the mobile device with the geographic locations residing in the database, and generates user geographic playlist information that includes the identifier of media content events that has an associated geographic location that matches with the determined geographic location of the mobile device. A geographic playlist is then presented to the user of the mobile device.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for porting locally processed media data with low latency to a remote client device via various wireless links are provided. In one example embodiment, a transceiver module may include a local network interface and a controller that may receive a client control signal from a client device over a wireless local area network via the local network interface, transmit a media control signal based on the client control signal to a media device, receive media data based on the media control signal from the media device, and transmit to the client device over the wireless local area network via the local network interface client data based on the media data and a low-latency compression technique. The receipt of the media data and transmission of the client data may be accomplished with substantially no detectable latency. Additional embodiments are also provided.

Playback operations may be synchronized among the devices that are members of the session, in which devices receive identification of asset(s) to be rendered pursuant to the playback operation and timing information of playback of the asset. The devices may stream the playback assets directly from media sources when they are capable of doing so. In this manner, communication resources are conserved.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus include computer programs encoded on a computer-readable storage medium, including a system for ranking videos. Videos are identified that have been presented at client devices. For each video, session start data is identified that specifies a lead video that initiated presentation to a user during a presentation session. For each lead video, presentation times over multiple user sessions are determined, a scaled presentation time is obtained, user sessions for which the lead video initiated presentation of videos are identified, and an aggregate video presentation time attributable to the lead video is determined. For each given video, a presentation score is determined based on a scaled presentation time of the lead video relative to a sum of the aggregate video presentation times for the lead videos. The videos are ranked based on the presentation scores. A user interface is updated to present the ranked videos.

Abstract: A system includes a display subsystem. The display subsystem includes a shared buffer having allocated portions, each allocated to one of a plurality of display threads, each display thread associated with a display peripheral. The display subsystem also includes a direct memory access (DMA) engine configured to receive a request from a main processor to deallocate an amount of space from a first allocated portion associated with a first display thread. In response to receiving the request, the DMA engine deallocates the amount of space from the first allocated portion and shifts the allocated portions of at least some of other display threads to maintain contiguity of the allocated portions and concatenate free space at an end of the shared buffer.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods related to Video Surveillance as a Service (VSaaS) are described. For example, a removable storage device, such as a secure digital (SD) memory card or a micro SD card, can be configured to run a virtual camera agent. When the removable storage device is inserted into a digital camera to provide a storage capacity for the digital camera, the agent can convert the video captured by the digital camera into video captured by a virtual camera. The virtual camera can be configured to be in compliance with the camera requirements of a VSaaS platform. Thus, a digital camera not in compliance with the platform can still be used with the platform through the deployment of the virtual camera that is enabled by the removable storage device.

Abstract: Described embodiments provide systems and methods for selecting between modes for delivering or providing access to a file. A server can be configured to deliver the file via a plurality of modes of delivery including. A first mode of delivery can include downloading the file and a second mode of delivery can include delivering the file via a virtualized stream. The server can receive a request and initiate downloading of the file for a length of time. The server can identify an amount of available bandwidth and size of the file and determine a first time for the first mode of delivery. The first time can be compared to a second time to deliver the file via the second mode of delivery. The server can select between the first mode of delivery and the second mode of delivery and provide the file via the selected mode of delivery.

Abstract: A receiving device including a receiver and processing circuitry is provided. The receiver is configured to receive a broadcast stream. The broadcast stream includes a plurality of services. Each of the plurality of services includes one or a plurality of components and a first control signal transmitted by a unidirectional transport session. The processing circuitry is configured to process the one or the plurality of components constituting a particular service of the plurality of services included in the broadcast stream, and process the first control signal of the particular service received from signals transmitted by the unidirectional transport session according to an Internet Protocol (IP) address. Each of the plurality of services is associated with a different IP address that is contained in packets of the one or the plurality of components and the first control signal of the respective service, and in an IP layer.

Abstract: The disclosed technology includes a system and method for selecting highlight media clips and posting the highlight media clips to social media platforms. In one implementation, a method includes receiving, during a live event, a selection of a point of interest (POI) in a media stream of the live event, the POI corresponding to a reference time during the live event, inserting into the media stream POI timing metadata indicating the reference time of the POI, and transcoding the media stream into data segments responsive to inserting the media stream POI timing metadata, each data segment corresponding to a presentation time stamp (PTS). The method may include selecting a data segment of the transcoded data segments, the selected data segment corresponding to a PTS mapped to the reference time and generating a media clip containing the selected data segment for presentation over a communications network during the live event.
