Abstract: A smart placement module determines components of received medical data, such as medical reports and image montages, to forward to one or more secondary location, such as an EMR system, based on smart placement rules that are established by a user that receives the medical data, such as a referring doctor. Thus, the smart placement module decreases or removes the need for the receiving user to manually select and transfer certain medical data for storage at the EMR system. Accordingly, the receiving user, and other authorized EMR system users, may have prompt access to the medical data via their respective connections to the EMR system. In one embodiment, the smart placement module transmits a patient identification file that is usable by the receiving EMR system to allow the EMR system to associate received medical data with other data regarding a respective patient.

Abstract: Embodiments herein describe a content distribution system that verifies a media presentation (or portions thereof) using a broadcast schedule. In one embodiment, the content verification system evaluates the media presentation to identify a unique identification data for the presentation such as a fingerprint or watermark. Using the broadcast schedule, the content verification system can identify what content the media presentation should (or is expected) to contain. The content verification system can retrieve a previously stored unique identifier from a database corresponding to the content identified using the broadcast schedule. If the stored unique identifier matches the unique identifier derived by the content verification system, the system verifies the content in the media presentation is correct. The verified media presentation can then be transmitted to a content distribution network—e.g., a broadcast network or video-on-demand provider.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus to determine a state of a media presentation device are disclosed. Example disclosed methods include generating a first set of weighted coefficients based on first audio received by first and second microphones at a first time. Example disclosed methods include generating a second set of weighted coefficients based on second audio received by the first and second microphones at a second time after the first time. Example disclosed methods include comparing the first set of coefficients and the second set of coefficients to generate a similarity value. Example disclosed methods include, when the similarity value satisfies a threshold, determining that the media presentation device is in a first state. Example disclosed methods include, when the similarity value does not satisfy the threshold, determining that the media presentation device is in a second state.

The e-commerce website is associated with a merchant having the merchant processing account allowing the merchant to perform electronic transactions with a merchant processor, and the sub-account allows the vendor to transact directly with customers and to perform electronic transactions with the merchant processor.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described to enable delivery of streaming content while inhibiting or preventing removal, blocking, or skipping of portions within that streaming content. A content delivery system can generate a manifest indicating content portions that form the streaming content. Each content portion can be identified in the manifest using a concealed identifier, which conceals the actual identifier of the content portion from the client to inhibit or prevent the client from automatically removing or modifying the content portion. On receiving a request for a content portion, the content delivery system can convert the concealed identifier into the actual identifier, and return the appropriate content portion to the client. In some instances, the specific identifiers included within a concealed manifest may be modified or adapted based on monitoring information of the client device, to ensure clients view given portions of streaming content.

Abstract: An interactive video distribution system and video player are described. A client server arrangement may be used for providing a video player and video content to a client device. The video player may display navigation images enabling navigation to specific portions of the video content by activating a corresponding navigation image. The video player may also enable the sharing of a segment of the video with other video players, enabling the video players to play the streamed segment of the video without having to play the entire video, thereby reducing network bandwidth usage. The video player may be embeddable. The server may associate searchable tags with respective video segments.

Abstract: A scheme for managing delivery of segmented media content in an ABR network, wherein bitrates of a manifest file may be selectively modified or removed based on a client device's video buffer characteristics. An ABR stream delivery server is operative to simulate the client device's video buffer in a streaming session and accordingly modify the manifest files to include metadata for media segments encoded at a particular single bitrate responsive to the buffer performance and other network conditions. Responsive to monitoring the video buffer characteristics of the media player during the streaming session, a selected single bitrate may be moved up or down to other bitrates of the manifest files.

Abstract: Systems and methods provide live broadcasts with real-time feedback from viewers using mobile computing devices. An example method includes providing a live feed broadcast from a source mobile device to a plurality of viewing devices, receiving, during the live feed broadcast, an engagement from one of the plurality of viewing devices, and associating the engagement with a particular time in the live feed broadcast. The method also includes providing an indication of the engagement to the source mobile device, wherein the source mobile device displays a graphic representation of the engagement during the live feed broadcast and adding the indication of the engagement to the live feed so that a graphic representation is displayed during the live feed at the particular time to users of the plurality of viewing devices. The viewing user may each have a graph relationship with a user of the source mobile device.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a content supply device, a content supply method, a program, a terminal device, and a content supply system, which are capable of implementing rapid zapping between channels in DASH. The content supply device of the present disclosure generates a zapping segment stream by delimiting zapping streaming data among a plurality of pieces of streaming data into minimum units when reception of the streaming data is switched, according to a common timing with another channel, unicast-delivers the zapping segment stream, multicast-delivers the zapping segment stream, and generates a metafile for a reception side to receive the zapping segment stream that is unicast-delivered and multicast-delivered. The present disclosure can be applied to a system that delivers content in a streaming manner.

A system routes a video stream from a signal extractor to a first virtual encoder. The first virtual encoder is instantiated on a cloud platform and provides a first video output at a first bitrate. A second virtual encoder is instantiated on the cloud platform in response to a change in viewer count. The system routes the video stream from the signal extractor to the second virtual encoder. The second virtual encoder provides a second video output at a second bitrate. The second bitrate is different from the first bitrate.

By analyzing how a user flips through different content items, content items that the user interacts with can be determined, and content items that the user may interact with or prefer can be determined and presented to the user.

Abstract: Techniques are described for optimizing the use of computing resources in connection with providing online services. A user interface (UI) executes in the cloud and is streamed as video to a client device. When the user navigates away from the UI, the connection between the client and the computing resource is terminated and the resource is placed back in the pool. The most recent state of the UI is retained so that when the user navigates back to the UI, a new resource is allocated and the UI begins executing at or near the point where the user last interacted with the UI.

Abstract: A system may include a first network in which user device(s) and a HIP server are communicably coupled. The first network may include a secure data administrator, such as a medical data system, that stores secure data. In some implementations, at least one of the user devices may include a web module and communicate with a web server through a second network. A User Equipment (UE) communicates with the APs and selects one of the television channels for viewing on the UE by selecting the port number corresponding to the desired television channel. In one embodiment, the network comprises a cable network, and the infrastructure comprises that nominally used for on-demand (OD) services such as VOD. The method includes periodically or situationally assessing variable delays within the system associated with functional commands (such as “trick mode” commands), and dynamically compensating for these variable delays in order to improve the accuracy and timeliness of the user's trick mode command. This approach increases user satisfaction, and obviates the issuance of additional compensatory trick mode commands that only further degrade the performance of the network.

Abstract: There are many boxes (e.g., set-top boxes) in a system offering media services to users. Each of the boxes maintains a library with a significant number of titles. Techniques for updating the library in each of these boxes using a transmission infrastructure are described. According to one aspect of the techniques, a service provider is provided with a high bandwidth broadcasting or multicasting capability, a release fragmented into a header and several segments is transmitted to all boxes that are respectively configured to receive a proper release package to update the library. Alternatively, separate release packages may be transmitted via different channels to the boxes, wherein each of the boxes is tuned to a proper channel to receive a proper release package.

Abstract: A storage platform computing apparatus obtains a lifecycle management policy and configuration information for a cloud repository identified in the lifecycle management policy. The configuration information includes at least one access parameter for the cloud repository. The lifecycle management policy is applied to determine when an object is required to be replicated to the cloud repository in response to a received write request. A request to store the object in the cloud repository is generated, when the object is determined to be required to be stored in the cloud repository, wherein the request includes the access parameter. The request is sent to the cloud repository using a representational state transfer (REST) interface associated with the cloud repository.

Abstract: Multimedia content is featured on user pages of an online social network using embed codes that are generated using a configuration file associated with the source ID for the multimedia content and a content ID for the multimedia content. The configuration file, the source ID and the content ID are stored locally by the online social network so that any changes to the embed codes can be made by changing the configuration file associated with the source and regenerating the embed codes. By managing multimedia content in this manner, greater control can be exercised by the online social network over the multimedia content that are featured on its user pages.

Abstract: Described herein are techniques for facilitating combined broadcast and unicast delivery of content. According to various embodiments, a media stream from a content provider may be received at a unicast server and at a broadcast server. The media stream may comprise a plurality of media stream fragments. A relative delay may be introduced into the media stream at the broadcast server such that media stream fragments transmitted from the broadcast server are delayed relative to media stream fragments transmitted from the unicast server. The media stream fragments may be transmitted to a user device. The user device may be operable to switch between receiving the media stream fragments from the unicast server and the broadcast server.

Responsive to the customer selection and based at least in part on a storage size of a future content, a DVR is selected to record the future content at a future recording time.

Abstract: Techniques are described for optimizing the use of computing resources in connection with providing online services. A user interface (UI) executes in the cloud and is streamed as video to a client device. When the user navigates away from the UI, the connection between the client and the computing resource is terminated and the resource is placed back in the pool. The most recent state of the UI is retained so that when the user navigates back to the UI, a new resource is allocated and the UI begins executing at or near the point where the user last interacted with the UI.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for communication among different components, including integrating a Network Forwarding Component (NFC) for forwarding messages and at least one Independent Application Component (IAC) for performing other service processing into one network device; setting at least one cooperation mode in the NFC and each of the at least one IAC; and communicating with each other, by the NFC and the at least one IAC, according to the at least one cooperation mode. The cooperation mode may be any or any combination of a host mode, a mirror mode, a redirection mode and a pass-through mode. According to the present invention, the NFC and the IAC may communicate according to the cooperation mode so as to ensure that the NFC and the IAC can cooperate to provide various service capabilities including message forwarding and other additional service capabilities.
