  • Patent number: 11089357
Abstract: A computing system receives from a media presentation device a query fingerprint stream representing media content being presented by the media presentation device, where the query fingerprint stream has been determined to represent a first channel. The computing system then detects that a threshold mismatch exists between the received query fingerprint stream and a reference fingerprint stream representing the first channel, thus indicating a likelihood that the media presentation device has transitioned from presenting the first channel to presenting a second channel. Responsive to detecting the threshold mismatch, the system thus discontinues channel-specific action with respect to the first channel. For instance, the system could discontinue superimposing of first-channel-specific content on the presented media content and perhaps start superimposing of second-channel-specific content instead.

  • Patent number: 11083037
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for communicating data from multiple data terminals to an aggregator terminal over a communication link having changing link conditions. In some embodiments, source data is received at multiple data terminals, each in communication with an aggregator terminal over a communication link. For example, during a live newscast, one mobile camera may receive live video of an event from a first position while another mobile camera receives live video of the event from a second position. For various reasons (e.g., as the cameras move) each communication link may experience independently changing link conditions. Each data terminal encodes the source data (or store source data for later encoding) as a function of its respective link conditions, and transmits encoded source data over its respective communication link to the aggregator terminal.

  • Patent number: 11012545
Abstract: An electronic device monitors audible output for media content being presented in its vicinity. It detects a volume change event within the monitored audible output. It obtains identification of the media content. Based on the identification, the device obtains a list of expected volume change events within the media content. It determines whether the detected volume change event correlates with one of the expected volume change events. In accordance with a determination that there is no correlation, the device determines that the detected volume change event comprises a volume change event from a user of the device. It analyzes the detected volume change event to determine user interest in the presented media content. The determined level of interest is sent to a server system. Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and systems to help disambiguate channel identification in a scenario where fingerprint data of media content matches multiple reference fingerprints corresponding respectively with multiple different channels. Upon detecting such a multi-match, a server or other entity will perform disambiguation based on a determination that a segment of the fingerprint data matches a reference fingerprint corresponding with just a single channel, such as a reference fingerprint representing commercial or news programming content specific to just the single channel. The client device analyzes the video input stream to determine that the video input stream matches a template indicating a change of speed. In some example embodiments, the analysis is performed while the client device is generating a video output stream that replaces video content received from a content source via the intermediate device. Based on the video input stream matching the template, the client device modifies the video output stream to show the change of speed. For example, commercials transmitted from a national content provider to a smart TV via a set-top box may be replaced with targeted commercials. During the replacement, fast-forwarding of the commercial may be detected by matching a template with the video input stream. • Patent number: 10547877
Abstract: Methods and apparatus to identify media content using temporal signal characteristics are disclosed. An example method includes generating a reference signature based on a reference signal corresponding to known media, generating sums based on peaks in a media signal corresponding to media, identifying signal peaks based on the generated sums, generating a second signature based on normalized curve features, wherein the normalized curve features respectively correspond to the identified signal peaks at a corresponding temporal locations of the corresponding signal peak, and determining whether the media signal corresponds to the reference signal based on a comparison of the reference signature and the second signature.

  • Patent number: 10534903
Abstract: A station device in a biometric pre-identification system uses identity to perform one or more actions. Identities are determined (such as via a backend) using biometric information. A biometric pre-identification device obtains biometric information and/or a digital representation thereof from a person approaching the station device. The biometric pre-identification device transmits such to the station device, facilitating the station to begin and/or perform various actions. The station device begins or performs the actions using the identity determined based on the biometric information before the person arrives at the station device.

  • Patent number: 10531150

  • Patent number: 10445588
Abstract: Systems and methods for replacing original media bookmarks of at least a portion of a digital media file with replacement bookmarks is described. A media fingerprint engine detects the location of the original fingerprints associated with the portion of the digital media file and a region analysis algorithm characterizes regions of media file spanning the location of the original bookmarks by data class types. The replacement bookmarks are associated with the data class types and are overwritten or otherwise are substituted for the original bookmarks. The replacement bookmarks then are subjected to a fingerprint matching algorithm that incorporates media timeline and media related metadata.
