  • Patent number: 11659246
Abstract: A media presentation and distribution system (MPDS) communicatively coupled to a client device, which handles media content distribution via a content delivery network, to a client device associated with a user: identifies candidate time intervals in programming media content played at the client device based on at least a request received from the client device. The MPDS retrieves media content from a media store in the MPDS. The media content is retrieved based on at least one of the user intent information and a plurality of targeting parameters associated with the user. The MPDS dynamically generates personalized media content that corresponds to the candidate time intervals in the programming media content and further instructs playback of the dynamically generated personalized media content at the identified candidate time intervals based on the specified version of the programming media content played at the client device.

Abstract: According to examples, a system for generating and delivering enhanced content utilizing remote rendering and data streaming is described. The system may include a processor and a memory storing instructions. The processor, when executing the instructions, may cause the system to transmit a selected engagement content item for transmission to a user device and receive an indication of interest relating to the selected engagement content item. The processor, when executing the instructions, may then select, based on the received indication of interest, an enhanced content item, process the enhanced to content item to generate a stream of content data associated with the enhanced content item and transmit the stream of content data associated with the enhanced content item to the user device.

  • Patent number: 11638048
Abstract: A system is provided for publishing a disparate live media output stream manifest that includes one or more media segments corresponding to key events. A start and stop time is obtained for a pre-produced media asset from a live playout system synchronized to a reference clock. Based on a reference time of the reference clock and play events from the live playout system, a normalized event metadata is converted from a play time of pre-produced media asset metadata to the reference time. The play events exists for the pre-produced media asset as start and stop times per the pre-produced media asset support inclusion of non-programming content and restart of the pre-produced media asset during a playout. Start and end messages are transmitted for publishing the normalized event metadata each time the pre-produced media asset is started and stopped during the playout in a disparate live media output stream.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for disambiguating user input based on a physical location of items in a vicinity of a user. The system determines that a query received from a user contains an ambiguity. In response, the system identifies several items in the physical vicinity of the user. Then, the system analyzes the identified plurality of items to determine whether the plurality of items forms a first ensemble of items or a second ensemble of items. If the plurality of items forms a first ensemble of items, the system performs a search using the search query and a first keyword related to the first ensemble of items. If the plurality of items forms a second ensemble of items, the system performs a search using the search query and a second keyword related to the second ensemble of items. • Patent number: 11425460
Abstract: Systems and methods are described to selectively stream content based on parental control ratings. At a client device, a manifest identifying sequential segments of a media asset and versions of a particular segment of the sequential segments may be received, and a graphical user interface may be generated for display to simultaneously depict a respective portion of each respective version of the particular segment and respective selectable options associated with each respective version of the particular segment. A selection of a first option may be received that is associated with a first version of the particular segment, and during playing of the media asset, in response to determining that the particular segment is the next segment to be played, the first version of the particular segment may be requested from the server.

  • Patent number: 11405685
Abstract: This document describes systems, methods, devices, and other techniques for determining media items to insert in a media stream. A first media client can play a primary media stream that is multicast to various media clients including the first media client and other media clients. The first media client identifies a start of a primary programming timeslot in the primary media stream, and in response, obtains and stores a secondary media item. After storing the secondary media item at the first media client, the first media client detects an insertion signal in the primary media stream that indicates a secondary programming timeslot is about to begin in the primary media stream. The first media client can then play the secondary media item in place of the primary media stream during the secondary programming timeslot.

  • Patent number: 11388454
Abstract: Provided are a system and method for publishing a disparate live media output stream manifest that includes one or more media segments corresponding to key events. The system comprises one or more processors that generate a programming schedule, based on a synchronization of one or more disparate sub-systems in the system, includes one or more key events that occurred from a starting point until a current live point in a live input stream. Further, a reference clock provides a reference time to synchronize the one or more disparate sub-systems. Based on the programming schedule, one or more processors insert the current live point and one or more media segments corresponding to the one or more key events that occurred prior to the current live point included in a live input stream manifest into a disparate live media output stream manifest, which is further published based on the insertion.

  • Patent number: 11381498
Abstract: A broadcast transmission system according to an aspect of the present invention includes a broadcast network controller and a broadcast network switch, thereby transmitting an Internet protocol (IP) stream for a service that cannot be transmitted through one physical layer pipe (PLP) by distributing the IP stream into a combination of one or more PLPs. In this case, the combined PLPs may be in one or more broadcast network frequency bands. The broadcast network controller determines the combination of PLPs, and the broadcast network switch distributes the IP stream into one or more PLPs according to a control command of the broadcast network controller.

  • Patent number: 11374924
Abstract: Aspects of the invention relate to systems and methods for securely retaining profile data and the use of such data for the targeted delivery of content. In one embodiment, a unique profile that represents the user location and is keyed to profile attributes selected from both a first set of data collected from the user location and the second set of profile data collected from an external source, is generated. The key does not allow a third party to identify the end-user location or a user associated with the end-user location. Electronic content transmitted to end-user locations may be encoded such that it may only be accessed by an authorized user and/or on a specific electronic device at the user location. A graphical user interface may be utilized to allow a third-party to provide selection criteria for determining user locations to receive targeted content. Further aspects of the invention relate to an electronic device configured to present targeted content to a user at a user location.

Abstract: A content management system and method for use of same is disclosed. In one embodiment of the system, the set-top box is configured to receive a source signal which includes a stream of network programming having time slots interposed therein. The set-top box detects signaling data indicative of a designated time slot within the network programming and responsive thereto, interposes content stored at the set-top box at the designated time slot within the network programming. The set-top box then forwards the interposed content to the display. Following the forwarding of the interposed content, the set-top box returns to receiving network programming and forwarding the network programming to the display. The set-top box also provides confirmation of the displayed interposed content to a server, which may map the confirmation information.

  • Patent number: 11277458
Abstract: A server receives, from a broadcast station, a message including a station identifier and a list of media-works scheduled for broadcast. The media-works are identified by identifying attributes. The server attempts a first-level match between identifying attributes associated with a first media-work and unique identifiers included in a database. The unique identifiers link content attributes of different media-works to different unique identifiers. The first-level match includes comparing the identifying attributes to the unique identifiers to determine whether an identifying attribute matches any of the unique identifiers stored in the database. If not, a second-level match compares the identifying attributes to content attributes of different media-works to identify content attributes that match the identifying attributes.
