Abstract: Methods and systems are provided herein for providing media asset recommendations to a user based on user input in real time and using a reinforcement learning model or media asset recommendation model. The model includes a plurality of states, each having a set of media asset recommendations, a plurality of available user input options, and a state value. During a browsing session, a first set of media asset recommendations is provided to a user based on a current state corresponding to the browsing session. The user then selects a user input option, and a second set of media asset recommendations is determined based on the received user input option. The second set of media asset recommendations is then provided to the user during the browsing session.

The system and methods include monitoring actions performed, by the user at a digital receiver, with respect to a plurality of content programs. The actions performed with respect to the plurality of content programs are analyzed. The analysis includes comparing a level of the actions with respect to a first content program of the plurality of content programs with a threshold. Based on the comparing indicating that the first content program is a favorites, an indication that the first content program is a favorites content program is stored to a data store.

Some examples of this disclosure are related to providing a list of suggested documents that a user can reference (e.g., add a link to) in a virtual space (e.g., in a message or post to one or more other users). For example, a user can be interacting with a virtual space (e.g., composing a direct message, a channel post, a thread, a workspace, a document, and the like) and invoke a list of suggested documents that can be referenced in the virtual space. Abstract: The system generates a display providing condensing content for display under time constraints. In response to a selection of a program that has already started, the system retrieves information about the program. Based on this information, and information about the user, the system selects a subset of segments of the program, forming a shorter version of the content that fits within a reduced time interval, from the time of selection to a scheduled end time. Accordingly, the user is presented with the condensed version of the currently selected program by, including the important or relevant segments of the program. The system generates the condensed content by selecting segments of the program that are determined to be important to the user and that cumulatively fit with the available viewing time. The system may sort, score, or otherwise rank segment identifiers based on user profile information.

Abstract: A method of reproducing audio content between a main terminal including a first speaker and a plurality of subsidiary terminals including a second speaker. Device specific identification (ID) information of the subsidiary terminals and association information for transmitting one of the audio data of the audio content to one of the subsidiary terminals are stored. The association information defines that one of the audio data of the audio content is associated with one of the device specific ID information. The subsidiary terminals transmit/receive with the main terminal and the device specific ID information is transmitted from the subsidiary terminals to the main terminal when connecting to the main terminal. By allowing the user to select the source of ratings, the media guidance application ensures that the ratings provided are meaningful to the user. The media guidance application retrieves the ratings from the source of ratings selected by the user and displays the retrieved ratings in the corresponding program listing so that the user may make an informed decision about his or her television viewing. The media guidance application may also incorporate the retrieved ratings into media guidance functions such as setting reminders, scheduling recordings, or recommending programs.

The method includes obtaining, by a service provider system, channel viewing data from a user device of a user, pre-processing, by a content analysis unit, the channel viewing data to mitigate inaccuracies and inconsistencies in the channel viewing data, scaling, by the content analysis unit, the pre-processed channel viewing data to highlight temporal dislike aspects of the pre-processed channel viewing data, applying, by the content analysis unit, machine learning algorithms to the scaled channel viewing data to generate a disliked content ratings matrix, and outputting, by the content analysis unit to user interface systems in the service provider system, to provide enhanced user viewing. Abstract: Exemplary embodiments are directed to a device and method for controlling ambiance based on user-requested content. The device receives training data, user content requests, and user network device modification data. The device ascertains a content type for a user content request, performs analytics on the training data to create a model to predict ambiance settings, predicts ambiance settings for the content type using the model, evaluates the accuracy of the model and performs optimizations to the model to improve the predictions of the ambiance settings. The device controls the operating settings of one or more network devices based on the predicted ambiance settings. Moreover, exemplary embodiments are directed to controlling the enabling of display notifications, controlling reminder notifications, and controlling greeting notifications using a face identifier and notification settings.

Abstract: Methods and systems for facilitating discovery of fresh content in a grid guide are described herein. The system generates for display a grid guide with a first set of content identifiers populating the grid guide. The system receives an input to shift the grid guide and, in response, identifies a second set of content identifiers that would populate the grid guide following the shift. The system determines duplicative content identifiers between the first and second sets of content identifiers. The system then removes the duplicative content identifiers or highlights the non-duplicative content identifiers in order to emphasize fresh content in the grid guide. The system may additionally add identifiers to the content identifiers to indicate recorded or previously watched content and may collapse the grid guide if there are blank rows or columns. These methods and systems provide the user with easier access to fresh content in the grid guide.

The media guidance application may update a set of weightings corresponding to the plurality of attributes by increasing a weighting corresponding to the respective attribute and adjust a recommendation for a media asset different from the viewed media asset based on the updated set of weightings. A service provider may provide a guide experience that incorporates thumbnail videos as part of the navigation experience. “Personalized” mosaics and video-tiles are provided as part of the guide such that the mosaic has an integrated look and feel. The guide experience may also include an optional guide-view as part of the navigation guide. Further, the guide experience may receive input from a user to personalize the mosaic for the user. Mosaics may be defined including a plurality of thumbnails which may be available for display on a client device. Per a request received to manipulate a thumbnail within the mosaic with a video, the selected video may be retrieved, manipulated and transcoded in accordance with the request. The thumbnail may then be updated with the selected video within the mosaic, and the mosaic may be transmitted to the client device.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed toward locally generating a replacement spot beam signal to be combined with other orbital television signals, where the replacement spot beam signal is generated from locally received over-the-air television signals. Over-the-air television signals are received at a user's premises via an over-the-air antenna and orbital signals are received at the user's premises via a satellite antenna. The orbital signals include a spot beam signal and other orbital signals. The spot beam signal is specifically generated for the geographical area associated with the over-the-air television signals. One or more available local channels are extracted from the over-the-air television signals and are converted into the replacement spot beam signal that is a satellite-compatible signal. The replacement spot beam, instead of the original spot beam signal, is then combined with the other orbital signals and provided to a content receiver.
