Abstract: Systems and methods for sharing content between devices are disclosed. To request a shared piece of media content, a playback device generates and sends a request to content server. The playback device includes information in the request that indicates the playback capabilities of the device. The content server receives the request and determines the playback capabilities of the playback device from the information in the request. The content server then determines the assets that may be used by the playback device to obtain the media content and generates a top level index file for the playback device that includes information about the determined assets. The top level index file is then sent to the playback device that may then use the top level index file to obtain the media content using the indicated assets.

Abstract: This application discloses a video clip positioning method performed at a computer device. In this application, the computer device acquires a plurality of video frame features of a target video and a text feature of a target text using a video recognition model to determine a candidate clip that can be matched with the target text. The candidate clip is finely divided based on a degree of matching between a video frame in the candidate clip and the target text to acquire a plurality of sub-clips, and a sub-clip that has the highest degree of matching with the target text is used as a target video clip. According to this application, the video recognition model does not need to learn a boundary feature of the target video clip, and during model training, or precisely label a sample video, thereby shortening a training period of the video recognition model.

Abstract: A recommendation system includes a content similarity analyzer configured to determine a first set of content item identifiers similar to a set of viewed content items based on respective similarity scores and add them to a first list. A similar user content extraction module identifies a set of similar user identifiers from a user similarity database; obtains, based on respective viewing histories of the set, a second set of content item identifiers; and adds them to the first list. The recommendation system includes a content filter configured to select a subset of content item identifiers from the first list based on the corresponding similarity scores between content item identifiers of the first list and a viewing history. The content filter is configured to transmit the subset of content item identifiers for display of the corresponding content items via a web portal on a user interface of a first user device.

Abstract: Improved technical functionality is provided to dynamically select and seamlessly play advertisements immediately before playing of a recorded program upon selection of the recorded program for playing, or upon other detected events and conditions associated with the set-top-box (STB) or user. In some embodiments, this is performed by using metadata which may be delivered to and stored on a digital video recorder (DVR) prior to recording the program, providing a technical solution to enable opportunities for additional advertisement impressions. Playing of the advertisement may also or instead occur upon the recorded program finishing playing. Thus, the technical solution provides the additional opportunity for the content creator and/or the satellite television or cable service provider to sell advertising spots in addition to those already sold for breaks within the recorded program.

Users, for example, visually-impaired users, may enable audio assistance features for trick play operations and customize audio assistance settings. Abstract: A television navigation device, such as a digital video recorder (DVR), searches for a television channel program lineup in an electronic program guide (EPG) of a service provider that matches the television channel program lineup for what the television navigation device understands to be that of a particular television channel. The television navigation device then assigns the particular television channel to the service provider's channel identifier of the matching television channel the EPG. This channel identifier will then be used by the television navigation device to command the receiving device associated with the service provider to tune to the particular television channel at the appropriate time.

Methods disclosed in this application make it easy to quickly schedule an entire season of a show to run during a time period based on time zone. Methods disclosed in this application also facilitate modifying, creating, or implementing channel schedules across one or more time zones, where the channel schedule includes episodes of video content.
