Abstract: Described herein are systems, media, and methods for providing an application that receives information for a plurality of items and utilizes the information to generate a navigable multi-dimensional list of items, wherein the list of items is navigable by at least three navigation modes comprising touch scroll and rotation, joystick scroll and rotation, gyroscopic scroll and rotation. As such, the application allows a user to efficiently and effectively visualize, navigate, create, and share large amounts of data.

A rating data associated with the media content is found, at least in part programmatically, in a location other than a display page that includes a media content or a link to the media content. Search criteria is received from a user, and the search criteria is identified in listings of media programming available from one or more sources. In some implementations, a combined search result can be provided that identifies instances of the search criteria found in program guide listings, files stored on a digital video recorder (DVR), available on-demand content, or any other sources as desired. Some implementations may prioritize search results using information about files stored on a DVR, user preferences, or any other information as desired.

Compressed or uncompressed analog, digital, or streaming video and audio data can also be provided to the users to allow real-time low latency continuous audio/visual feedback. Multiple camera users can obtain control of a camera using a dynamic queuing technique that can allow single user camera control for certain time intervals. An administrator can establish user camera control parameters including camera control intervals for subscriber users versus non-subscriber users, camera usurping by an administrator, elimination of camera control privileges for a user, and denial of camera control requests by a user.

Abstract: A system and method for establishing and provisioning a new Internet Video Link (IVL) category. The new IVL category has video content located on a local device as well as retrieved from any internet URL provided by a user. The IVL category is built in the background and contains a category as a directory of video content and channels as sub-directories containing subsets of the category's video content. The user may carry out keyword searching video content to establish a mix of video content concatenated into a single mix channel. Alternatively, the mix channel may be provisioned by locating and mixing together video content that has similar metadata tags associated with the user preferred video content. The user may also receive recommendations for IVL content. This abstract is not to be considered limiting, since other embodiments may deviate from the features described in this abstract.

Abstract: The present invention relates to systems and methods for indexing digital video content maintained on a storage media item. The method of the present invention comprises extracting caption and subtitle content from one or more video object (“VOB”) files maintained on the storage media item. The extracted caption and subtitle content are segmented into one or more segments and video and audio content corresponding to the one or more segments are extracted. Descriptions of the video and audio content corresponding to the segmented caption and subtitle content are generated. The captions, subtitles, descriptions, and corresponding video and audio content associated with the one or more segments of the one or more VOB files are indexed.

Abstract: An intelligent television can provide various interfaces for providing video-on-demand (VOD). The user interfaces include unique visual representations and organizations that allow the user to utilize the intelligent television more easily and more effectively. Particularly, the user interfaces pertain to the display of VOD content and better organizations thereof. Further, the user interfaces provide unique process of transitioning between the VOD content.

An exemplary embodiment receives a content availability notification request that specifies at least one content of interest, searches current electronic program guide (EPG) information to identify the content of interest, determines that the information identifying the specified content of interest is unavailable based upon the search of the current EPG information, generates a content availability reminder that is associated with the specified content of interest, monitors a content database to determine an availability of the specified content of interest identified in the content availability reminder, determines that the specified content of interest is available when the monitored content database indicates availability of the specified content of interest, and generates a content availability reminder notification that indicates at least a title of the specified content of interest.

Abstract: A system and method for delivering interactive video and audio content items, e.g., movie clips, music videos, adverts, to a user playback device, such as a television (TV) set. In a preferred embodiment, the content items are delivered within a video on demand (VoD) environment. Each content item has associated attributes that detail the navigational properties for that content item. The content items are delivered as entries in a content sequence. Nonlinear navigation of the video content sequence is facilitated by querying the associated attributes for the current content item and enabling navigational actions (e.g. FF/REW/PAUSE/SKIP/Jump to target) for that content item accordingly. The content items thus permit varying degrees of user interaction. The user interaction is not bound by predetermined navigational rules, since the user is free to experience the sequenced VoD content items in any order.

The processor constructs a semantic similarity degree matrix according to the inputting keyword group and the program name keyword group, and constructs an undirected graph according to the semantic similarity degree matrix. The processor finds a maximum clique set of the undirected graph, and generates a match score according to the program description and the maximum clique set. The processor determines a recommendation sequence of the program name in the EPG according to the match score.

Abstract: An interactive television program guide system with program series reminder and recording capabilities is provided. The system allows a user to set a reminder or schedule a recording for a single episode or for each episode of a program series. In addition, other options may be provided that allow the user to determine, for example, whether to schedule reminders/recordings for episodes on all channels on which the program airs or only on a selected channels, whether to schedule reminders/recordings for all episodes including reruns or only new episodes, whether to schedule reminders/recordings for network or syndicated episodes, and whether to schedule reminders/recordings for episodes on all days or only on selected days of the week. Before the scheduled broadcast time of each episode of each selected program series, the system sends a reminder message to the user that reminds the user of the program episode or sends a record command to a videocassette recorder to initiate recording of the episode.

Abstract: A system, method and computer-readable medium are presented for providing real-time content-based navigation of live video programming. The video programming is received and a searchable database is generated. The method aspect of the invention comprises receiving a live video program, generating an index to the received live video program by extracting images and/or text from the video program, recording the live video program, presenting at least a portion of data associated with the generated index to a user, receiving user input regarding a search to a portion of the recorded video program to which the user desires to navigate and playing back the recorded video program starting at the searched portion identified by the user input. The search may be of an image and/or text portion of the presentation.

Abstract: A system and method is provided to automatically generate content for ITV products and services by processing primary media sources. In one embodiment of the invention, keywords are automatically extracted from the primary media sources using one or more of a variety of techniques directed to video, audio and/or textual content of the multimodal source. In some embodiments, keywords are then processed according to one or more disclosed algorithms to narrow the quantity of downstream processing that is necessary to associate secondary sources (reference items) with the primary video source. Embodiments of the invention also provide automatic searching methods for the identification of reference items based on the processed keywords in order to maximize the value added by the association of reference items to the video source.

In one embodiment, the method presents information related to a selected merchandise and an option for a user to purchase the selected merchandise. The method may also include billing the order as part of a monthly service charge to the user.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method and server for generating a video program recommendation for a particular video program. The method may include the following steps of: extracting key information from an electronic program guide of a particular video program and the particular video program; searching for contents related with the key information on a public social media by using the key information, and obtaining search results; extracting an abstract from the search results as an inquiry request; searching for video programs in a broadcasting video library and an Internet video library based on the inquiry request, and using obtained search results as a video program recommendation for the particular video program; and storing the video program recommendation in association with the particular video program. By using the solutions of the above embodiments, video program recommendations may be generated collectively for video programs at the side of the server.
