  • Patent number: 11985376
Abstract: Generative media content (e.g., generative audio) can be played back across multiple playback devices concurrently. A coordinator device can receive a multi-channel stream of media content, with at least some channels comprising generative media content. The coordinator device transmits each of the channels to a plurality of playback devices. A first playback device plays back a first subset of the channels according to first playback responsibilities and a second playback device plays back a second subset of the channels according to second playback responsibilities. The first and/or second playback responsibilities can be dynamically modified over time, for example in response to one or more input parameters.

  • Patent number: 10575048
Abstract: Novel tools and techniques are provided for implementing media content streaming or playback, and, more particularly, for implementing video tuning and wireless video communication. In various embodiments, a media player, which might include an integrated wireless video link system, might receive an encoded video signal from a media content source(s) (and/or a corresponding database(s). The media player might decode the received video signal, might establish a wireless communications link between the media player and one or more display devices via the integrated wireless video link system, and might send the decoded video signal to the one or more display devices (and/or one or more user devices) via the wireless communications link established by the integrated wireless video link system. In some cases, the media player might perform one or more of these processed in response to user input received via the user devices or via the media player's user interface(s).

  • Patent number: 10554559
Abstract: A Multicast Adaptive Bitrate (MABR) Bandwidth Control Agent (BCA) configured to manage bandwidth of a plurality of MABR data streams in an Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) over Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) system, wherein a bandwidth bottleneck exists on either an inbound, IP-network side of a Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) or on an outbound, DOCSIS/RF-network side of the CMTS. The MABR BCA configures multiple virtual pipes on the inbound, IP-network side of the CMTS when the bottleneck is on the outbound, DOCSIS/RF-network side of the CMTS. One virtual pipe is configured for each service group to manage the bandwidth per service group for output RF ports on the CMTS. When the bottleneck is on the inbound, IP-network side of the CMTS, the MABR BCA configures one virtual pipe on the inbound, IP-network side to manage the bandwidth for input Ethernet ports on the CMTS.

  • Patent number: 10555042
Abstract: A mobile terminal has a communication processing unit that transmits, to a video display apparatus for displaying a broadcasted video content, a request for setting a viewing schedule of the video content. A storage unit stores a starting time of the video content for which the setting of the viewing schedule has been requested; and an information provision unit provides information to a user of the mobile terminal. A control unit determines whether the video display apparatus is existent around the mobile terminal. At a first predetermined time before the starting time, the information provision unit notifies the user of the first predetermined time. If the video display apparatus is not existent around the mobile terminal at a second predetermined time before the starting time, the information provision unit then notifies the user that it is the second predetermined time before the starting time.

  • Patent number: 10496235
Abstract: Applications on a computing device provide notifications associated with the application to a notification system. A notification includes an identification of content to be presented for the notification and an indication of when the content is to be presented. The notification system presents the notification content at the appropriate time regardless of whether the application is executing and without resuming execution of the application if the application is not running. Various power efficiency techniques are also used to determine which notifications are presented and when a user interface is updated to reflect those notifications in order to avoid updating the user interface to reflect notifications that would not be observable (e.g., due to a power mode of the computing device).

Abstract: A method and apparatus for dynamically balancing traffic loads in a communications system (such as satellite communications systems), based on a control of collision rates via the real-time control of throughput of channels of the communications system (such as a real time throughput of random access channels in a satellite network). The method and apparatus generates and transmits to remote nodes or terminals an operating probability based on the determined throughput for transmission using the communications channel. Also, the method and apparatus includes receiving by at least one terminal the generated operating probability and determining by the at least one terminal a transmission probability for the communications channel based upon the received operating probability, which can further be adjusted by one or more of a received upper or lower limit of the generated operating probability or a collision rate for the communications channel.

Abstract: Systems and methods for implementing a Transport I/O system are described. Network encrypted content may be received by a device. The device may provide the network encrypted content to a secure processor, such as, for example, a smart card. The secure processor obtains a network control work that may be used to decrypt the network encrypted content. The secure processor may decrypt the network encrypted content to produce clear content. In embodiments, the secure processor may then use a local control word to generate locally encrypted content specific to the device. The device may then receive the locally encrypted content from the secure processor and proceed to decrypt the locally encrypted content using a shared local encryption key. The transport I/O system ensures the protection of the network control word by maintaining the network control word on the secure processor.
