Horizontal Fulcrum Patents (Class 73/479)
  • Patent number: 11181143
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for receiving a workpiece in a bearing device for rotatably mounting the workpiece about a bearing axis (L) associated with a workpiece bearing surface. The device comprises a bearing pedestal (14) including a bearing element (1) which has two concavely cylindrical bearing surfaces (5, 6) that lie next to one another in the same bearing plane and symmetrically to a plane of symmetry containing the bearing axis (L), the cylinder radii of the cylindrical bearing surfaces being greater than the radius of the workpiece bearing surface for which the bearing device is intended, wherein the cylinder axes of the two bearing surfaces (5, 6) are parallel to the bearing axis (L) and have a distance between each other.

  • Patent number: 4655080
Abstract: A tire balancing machine in which the tire is mounted on an axle which is pivotally mounted relative to a road wheel while maintaining the axis of rotation of the tire parallel to the axis of rotation of the road wheel, the tire being spring loaded against the road wheel to simulate the weight load borne by the tire in normal use and the road wheel driven at a speed to rotate the tire at its intended operating speed, sensors being provided to measure the magnitude and location of the horizontal and vertical asymmetrical forces developed at the tire patch, the force measurements being utilized to determine the location and amounts of weight to be applied to the wheel rim to offset the asymmetrical forces generated by the tire in use.

  • Patent number: 4173146
Abstract: An apparatus for balancing unbalanced bodies such as motor vehicle wheels having a rotating mounting shaft, a pedestal body in which the mounting shaft is arranged and transducers and other support means for supporting the mounting shaft. The lateral influence of the transducers on each other and the tilting impact of the transducers upon the mounting shaft at their points of contact therewith are minimized by disposing the transducers, other support means and the longitudinal axis of the mounting shaft in a single horizontal plane.

  • Patent number: 3991621
Abstract: A support is provided including a base and an upright having its lower ends supported from the base. A generally horizontal support arm having one end supported from an upper end of the upright for oscillation about a horizontal axis extended transversely of the support arm is also provided and the other free end portion of the support arm projects over the base. An upstanding compression spring extends between and is interconnected between the base and the free swinging end portion of the support arm. Also, the free end of the support arm includes structure for journaling a vehicle wheel having a tire mounted thereon from the support arm for rapid spinning thereon. The free end of the support arm also includes structure by which a dynamic balancer pickup pad or a pickup pad from a strobe balancer may be supported from the support arm and by utilization of the support, a vehicle wheel having a tire mounted thereon may be spun at high speeds for balancing purposes.
