Abstract: A vibration-eliminating indicating instrument support for vibrating and shock-sustaining bodies, such as vehicles, particularly motorcycles, in a housing closed by an inspection glass, contains the measuring mechanism with an instrument dial and a hand, a holding cup for the housing, a base fastened to the holding cup and a vibration insulator interposed between the base and the cup.The vibration insulator is of elastic-rubber material of a Shore-hardness between 50 and 70 and is provided with a base-fastening bearing surface and a thread. The ring is fixedly attached to the cup in the peripheral area opposite the bearing surface radially.
Abstract: In the pressure testing of catalyst-loaded reactors with nitrogen gas at elevated temperatures, it is found that certain types of zeolite catalysts are substantially degraded in activity. The catalysts concerned comprises a Group VIII noble metal in an oxidized state, dispersed on a crystalline hydrogen zeolite, e.g., Y zeolite. It has now been discovered however that if such catalysts are first prereduced with a dilute, non-combustible mixture of nitrogen and hydrogen, damage on subsequent pressure testing with nitrogen is prevented or drastically reduced. Following pressure testing, the catalyst is activated by dehydration in a stream of hydrogen at elevated temperatures and pressures.
Abstract: A filled or gas encasing element to be tested is placed in a measuring chamber. The free space between the element and the chamber is filled with filler elements to prevent bursting or inflation of the element. A vacuum is produced in the chamber, and the time required to achieve a predetermined pressure increase therein is measured.
Abstract: A digital speedometer includes analog-to-digital converter means which may be coupled to a speed-indicator of a vehicle-mounted speedometer for converting a position of the speed indicator into a binary number which is displayed, upon being converted into a decimal number, on a display means mounted on the hood of a vehicle.
Abstract: Seal integrity tests are conducted on electrical energy storage devices, such as batteries, by the application, to the device under test, of oxygen at elevated pressures.

Abstract: An apparatus for measuring airtightness of sealed bodies such as waterproof wristwatches. The apparatus comprises airtightly sealed container for an object to measure, means connected to the container for varying inner pressure thereof, and means for electrically detecting mechanical strain occurring at the surface of the object in the container when subjected to a varied pressure. The detection is performed, for precision purpose, by means of measurements of variations in reactance, electrostatic capacitance or the like responsive to changes in slight clearance between magnetic or conductive member engaged to a surface of the object and detecting coil or electrode opposed to the member due to the strain, or, for simpler determination purpose, by means of ON-OFF operation of relay contact means including stationary contact opposed to the object surface and movable contact engaged to the surface.
Abstract: In an apparatus for the preparation of compounds in which one of the components is a highly volatile reactive component, in particular when preparing gallium phosphide, under pressure in an ampoule located in a pressure vessel, between 0.5 and 25% by volume and preferably 1.5 to 3% by volume of a gas capable of reacting with the highly volatile component, such as oxygen, air or carbon dioxide, is mixed in the pressure vessel to the gas which is used for pressurizing and as a cooling medium and the pressure in the pressure vessel is matched to the internal pressure of the ampoule in which the reaction is taking place.
Abstract: An apparatus for testing the gas impermeability of watch cases or other small articles comprises two enclosures. A bellows forms part of a hermetic separation between the enclosures, the bellows serving to move the movable plate of a variable condenser. The condenser is connected in an oscillator circuit to vary the oscillator frequency in accordance with the differential pressures between the two enclosures. The oscillator output frequency is compared with the output frequency of a stable frequency generator to provide a measurement indication. A watch case is placed within one enclosure and both enclosures brought to equal pressures after which the measurement of gas impermeability may begin.
Abstract: A speed indicating device or gauge is mounted on the forward flat upper surface of the water ski. This indicator is so mounted that the user of the ski during water skiing may view this speed indicating device. The indication is achieved by a pitot tube-like device in which one end of the tube is connected to the meter and the other end is disposed on the ski underside and at the rear thereof. The tube is filled with liquid to a point near the rear of the tube where a flexible diaphragm seals the tube. The diaphragm is actuated by the pressure of the fluid flow created by the rate of travel of the ski in the water.
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting leakage of water molecules through a defective portion, if any, of a container which comprises a vessel having a flange at the periphery thereof and a lid heat sealed to said flange and is filled with water-contained materials, such as foodstuffs, thereby detecting said defective portion, said apparatus comprising a chamber for receiving said container such that an enclosed space is formed along and in the vicinity of said sealed flange portion, partitions provided on said chamber for partitioning said enclosed space into a plurality of enclosed space cells, a plurality of humidity sensitive devices each provided individually associated with said enclosed space cells, a vacuum tank connected to said enclosed space cells for exhausting the air therefrom, a vacuum pump connected to said vacuum tank, and an electric circuit connected to said humidity sensitive devices for threshold detecting the outputs therefrom.
Abstract: An accelerometer telemetry system incorporated in a finger ring is used for monitoring the motor responses of a subject. The system includes an accelerometer, battery and transmitter and provides information to a remote receiver regarding hand movements of a subject wearing the ring, without the constraints of wires. Possible applications include the detection of fatigue from the hand movements of the wearer.

Abstract: A container for sterile medical liquids that has a double cap sealed closure system. A deformable thermoplastic top wall of an outer cap is spaced a distance from a top wall of an inner cap when properly sterilized. Thumb pressure on the outer cap brings the top walls of the two caps into contact. This contact provides an instant tactile test for determining that the container has been through a steam sterilization cycle and there are no leaks at the inner and outer cap seals with the bottle.
Abstract: A process and apparatus for detecting small gas leaks in filled, pressurized containers. Each container to be tested, or that portion of each container to be tested, is enclosed and sealed in a test chamber. The space within the test chamber is evacuated to remove any residual gas or liquid within the chamber or on the surfaces of the container. Thereafter, the evacuated chamber is sealed and held for a predetermined period of time to permit any gas leaking from the container to accumulate and diffuse throughout the chamber. A quantity of carrier gas is then introduced into the test chamber and held therein for a predetermined period of time so that the carrier gas and leakage gas may co-mingle and equilibrate. This provides an equilibrated, fixed volume of carrier gas-leakage gas mixture, the leakage gas content of which is dependent only upon the leak rate of the container. The equilibrated mixture is then transferred to a sensor.

Abstract: An athletic implement, such as a golf club, has a shaft and a club having a ball-striking face. Multiple accelerometers are positioned in the club so as to measure acceleration in directions normal and parallel to the face and parallel to the shaft, when the implement is swung to strike a ball. Signals representative of acceleration measured in each direction are then transmitted to a remote console where these signals are processed by vector computation to provide indicia representative of the swing, such as club face position, club velocity and acceleration.
Abstract: A parenteral liquid bottle with a sealed leak testing chamber in its closure. This leak testing chamber has an opening sealed off by a protective thermoplastic-metal film with a permanently stretched section extending across the opening. This permanently stretched section of the film maintains either a "concave" or a "convex" shape without a pressure differential across the film. A vacuum source temporarily applied to an external surface of the film causes the film to "toggle" from its concave to its convex position indicating the chamber is properly sealed. Failure to so toggle indicates a leak in the chamber.
