Patent number: 12128420Abstract: A work machine having a belt tensioning system is described. A belt is engaged with an engine drive sheave and a driven sheave of a rotor having a plurality of cutting tools configured for reducing wood infeed material. An idler pulley is mounted to an idler arm that is hinged to the machine frame. An actuator is hinged to the idler arm and the frame. The actuator may be extended and retracted in order to press the idler pulley into stronger and weaker engagement with the belt in order to set the desired amount of tension in the belt. One or more sensors may be used to sense the amount of tension in the belt, and the one or more sensors may be in communication with a control system that controls the actuator to monitor and adjust the belt tension so that it is maintained within desired limits.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2022Date of Patent: October 29, 2024Assignee: Alamo Group Inc.Inventors: Jeffrey Joseph Adams, Michael D. Patent number: 7806004Abstract: A belt conveying tension measuring system for measuring applied take-up tension on a belt of a bucket elevator or a belt of a conveyor. The tension measuring system includes a center assembly that is used in combination with a pushing assembly and a horizontal stabilizer assembly such that when a deflection operating assembly is used actuation of the deflection operating assembly causes the pushing assembly to provide deflection to the belt of the conveyor. The pressure to deflect the belt a set amount is measured with and set by a load cell and scale assembly.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2008Date of Patent: October 5, 2010Assignee: EBM Properties Inc.Inventor: Clayton S. Publication number: 20090268282Abstract: An apparatus for adjusting a tension of a pulling device in a pulling-device drive includes a body and a lever arm. The pulling-device drive includes first and second shafts and the pulling device loops around the first and second shafts. The body includes a receptacle adapted to interact with the first shaft and a support point adapted to rotatably dispose the body about an axis of rotation. The lever arm extends from the body so that a spacing between the first and second shafts is modifiable by action of a force on the lever arm.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 17, 2009Publication date: October 29, 2009Applicant: Leica Microsystems (Schweiz) AGInventor: Didier Henry

Publication number: 20090165570Abstract: To determine the backlash in an arrangement in which a motor moves a load via a transmission mechanism, a transducer is used which is present anyway in conventional production machines and which measures an angular position or translatory position of the drive element or a derivative of this quantity. Via the transducer the effect of the backlash on the actual position of the drive element is measured, the actual position being different from the desired position, which is defined by the forces or torques acting on the drive. On the basis of a frequency analysis, quantities can be derived which permit the use of threshold criteria. For example, the drive is driven with a periodic signal which is close to the absorber frequency, i.e. a frequency at which the absorption by the transmission mechanism is greatest.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 16, 2007Publication date: July 2, 2009Inventors: Hubert Bellm, Peter Krüger
