Patent number: 9267864Abstract: A method for identifying possible damage in a toothed transmission stage having at least one pair of engagement toothed wheels includes measuring with a vibration transducer an oscillation signal corresponding to oscillations produced by a rolling and impact motion when teeth of a pair of the toothed wheels mesh under load during operation of the transmission stage, comparing the oscillation signal with a calibration oscillation signal, determining a torque acting on the transmission stage from a difference between the oscillation signal and the calibration oscillation signal, and evaluating the measured oscillation signal commensurate with the determined torque to identify the possible damage to the transmission stage.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 2012Date of Patent: February 23, 2016Assignee: SIEMENS AKTIENGESELLSCHAFTInventors: Arno Klein-Hitpass, Jan-Dirk Reimers

Patent number: 7398700Abstract: After it is tightened with a snug torque TA, a bolt is tuned by a total turning angle ?S equivalent to the sum of an initial-set turning angle ?A and a corrective additional-turning angle (?B+?C). The corrective additional-turning angle (?B+?C) is the sum of a first corrective additional-turning angle ?B and a second corrective additional-turning angle ?C, the first corrective additional-turning angle ?B being to compensate for a situation where a bolt turning angle ?22 corresponding to the snug torque ?A on an extension line of the bolt tightening torque properties C2 in a late tightening stage II is different from a bolt turning angle ?11 corresponding to the actual snug torque TA, the second corrective additional-turning angle ?C being to compensate for a decrease of an effective bolt axial force that is caused by an existence of the initial tightening stage I.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2006Date of Patent: July 15, 2008Assignee: Mazda Motor CorporationInventors: Tatsumi Makimae, Yutaka Fujii, Hiroshi Shinagawa

Patent number: 7380472Abstract: A hand tool includes a handle and a function head is connected to an end of the handle. A first recess and a second recess are respectively defined in two opposite sides of the handle, and a strain transducer is engaged with the first recess. A display member and a processing unit are connected to the handle, and the strain transducer is electrically connected with the processing unit. A hole is defined through the handle and located between the first and second recesses.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 2006Date of Patent: June 3, 2008Inventor: Chih-Ching Hsieh

Patent number: 6532648Abstract: Method of fixedly connecting together externally and internally threaded tubes by tight engagement of externally and internally threaded portions of the tubes, wherein a wrenching operation is performed to rotate the externally and internally threaded tubes relative to each other with the externally and internally threaded portions engaging each other while an axial force is applied between the tubes. A physical quantity relating to a coefficient of friction between said tubes is obtained on the basis of a detected wrenching torque applied to rotate the tubes relative to each other and the axial force, and a terminating condition for terminating the wrenching operation is determined on the basis of the obtained physical quantity. The wrenching operation is terminated when the terminating condition has been satisfied. Apparatus for practicing the method and recording medium storing a control program for the method are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2002Date of Patent: March 18, 2003Assignee: Central Motor Wheel Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yukitaka Murakami, Shinji Hashimura, Kazuya Mori

Patent number: 6212763Abstract: A sucker rod tool system for oil wells monitors both torque and angular displacement of a three-element sucker rod connection. The tool system engages two sucker rods that are at least partially screwed into opposite ends of a sucker rod coupling. The system, however, does not engage the coupling adjoining both rods. The system determines whether a connection has been properly tightened by sensing the torque and angular displacement of the connection as it is being tightened, and comparing the data to a stored reference set of data or curves. In some embodiments, a properly tightened connection is based upon the number of straight lines that are needed to adequately approximate a plotted curve of the sensed torque versus angular displacement. Tightness of each connection of a string of sucker rods is recorded with reference to each connection's depth within a well to later serve as an aide in diagnosing connection failures. In some cases, the energy required to unscrew a connection is also recorded.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1999Date of Patent: April 10, 2001Inventor: Frederic M. Newman
