  • Patent number: 10478739
Abstract: A model airplane engine starting stick is provided with a blade edge engaging roller having a roller surface of a material which will grip the blade edge of the propeller when against the blade edge of the propeller to cause the roller to roll along the blade edge without sliding over and damaging the blade edge as the starting stick is moved with respect to the blade edge to rotate the propeller. The starting stick of the invention includes a handle by which the starting stick can be held and manipulated by a user and a roller attached to the handle to freely rotate or roll with respect to the handle.

  • Patent number: 6206322
Abstract: A towel dispenser for dispensing roll towel material, such as paper towel, cloth towel and the like. The dispenser includes an anti-free wheel mechanism incorporated therein to prevent the towel material from being pulled out of the dispenser without activating a dispensing mechanism. By preventing towel material from pulled out of the dispenser, excessive towel useage is prevented, thereby preventing towel material wastage. The anti-free wheel mechanism includes a latch that is secured to a pivoting lever of a dispensing mechanism, with the latch engaging with a dispensing gear of the dispensing mechanism to prevent rotation thereof when the lever is at its upper position. The latch is designed to disengage from the dispensing gear as the lever starts to move downward during a dispensing stroke.

  • Patent number: 5289731
Abstract: A hand powered motor for rotational tools and similar articles is provided which consists of a gun shaped housing having an enlarged barrel portion and a hand grip portion. A trigger assembly is mounted to the hand grip portion of the gun shaped housing, while a shaft extends outwardly from an end of the enlarged barrel portion of the gun shaped housing. A fastener is for coupling the shaft to one of the rotational tools and similar articles. A mechanism within the enlarged barrel portion of the gun shaped housing is for storing kinetic energy and rotating the shaft with one of the rotational tools and similar articles in one direction when the trigger assembly is manually squeezed.

  • Patent number: 4744257
Abstract: A kick type starting device for an engine, comprising a drive clutch body operatively connected to a kick axle of a kick pedal such that when the kick pedal is actuated engaging thrust and rotary torque are given to the driving clutch body, and a driven clutch body provided on an engine crank shaft and brought into engagement with the driving clutch body when the latter is advanced by the engaging thrust, wherein when the kick pedal returns to its resting position in a state where the driving and driven clutch bodies are engaged, a cam mechanism provided between the kick axle and the driving clutch body is actuated to cause the driving clutch body to be disengaged from the driven clutch body so as to cut the transmission of the reverse torque from the crank shaft to the kick axle.

  • Patent number: 4411442
Abstract: A foot-powered wheeled vehicle provides a frame having a platform normally occupied by a user. A pair of spaced apart front and rear trucks each supports a pinion geared shaft and a pair of wheels affixed to opposite ends of the shaft and rotatably with respect to the platform. A pair of independently actuable front and rear foot pedals hingedly are connected to the frame, each of the pedals being movable as desired by the operator between upper relaxed and lower depressed positions with each of the pedals being capable of imparting rotational energy to the wheels associated with its truck. Return springs are associated with each of the pedals for independently biasing each of the pedals toward the upper position which is overcome only by depression by the foot of the operator. Each pedal provides a curved toothed gear rack which is connected at its uppermost end portion to the pedal and which drivingly engages the pinion gear portion of the shaft responsive to depression of the pedal.

  • Patent number: 4377013
Abstract: A rotary brush or other rotary implement constructed in accordance with the instant invention includes a first fixed handle means and a second movable handle means hinged to the fixed handle and operable by squeezing. The brush head to be rotated is mounted on an elongated rod which extends through the handle portion. The movable handle carries a rack which engages a pinion gear carried on the rod for rotating the brush. The pinion gear includes internally disposed alternately selectable ratchet portions which upon selection by the user cause the brush head to rotate in a first and only a first direction upon a squeezing of the handle. Upon user adjustment, the brush will rotate in the second and only the second direction upon the squeezing of the handle. The rotation mechanism of the brush is completely enclosed within the handle portion.
