Automatic Patents (Class 74/150)
  • Patent number: 6766426
Abstract: An information processing apparatus and method and a program storage medium by which a recording medium of an apparatus connected to a network to which the information processing apparatus is connected can be utilized effectively wherein if reservation of recording of a predetermined program is performed for a video recorder, then a data amount necessary to record the reserved program is calculated. Then, those of apparatus connected to a network which include a recording medium which can record the calculated data amount are searched for. In response to a result of the search, a distribution of data amounts to be recorded into the recording media of those apparatus is determined. Then, areas are secured in the recordable areas of the recording media so that the determined data amount may be recorded.

Abstract: An automatically and smoothly continuously variable transmission, particularly for a bicycle, for transmitting input mechanical energy from a crank to the drive wheel. A ratchet, having an oscillatory, alternating motion member and a continuous rotary motion member, connected to the driven wheel, has a drive spring drivingly linked between the ratchet alternating member and the crank for driving the ratchet alternating member in one direction of motion. A return spring is linked to the ratchet alternating member for applying a return force upon the ratchet alternating member to return the alternating member in the opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 4750375
Abstract: A drive device for a low-voltage circuit breaker comprises a ratchet wheel with teeth which are engaged by a transporting ratchet by a periodic back-and-forth motion of a cage having the transporting ratchet disposed thereon. A stepwise rotation of the ratchet wheel for cocking an energy accumulator is brought about by the motion of the cage. Upon the release of the energy accumulator, which may be a tension spring for closing switch contacts, the ratchet wheel rotates at high speed relative to the transporting ratchet. Damage to the cooperating parts of the ratchet wheel and transporting ratchet is prevented by a centrifugal force level which is supported in the ratchet wheel in a radially tiltable manner and which protrudes during the fast rotation of the ratchet wheel with a working surface of circular arc shape beyond the heads of the teeth, so that the transporting ratchet is kept away from the teeth.
