    Abstract: The ratchet tie-down tensioner includes a ratchet engagement head actuated by a tensioning bar, a tie-down engagement head connected to a tie-down winding shaft, a ratchet engaged with outer inclined teeth of the tie-down engagement head and a ratchet drive mechanism located between the two engagement heads. The drive mechanism includes a self-centering crown floatingly supported in the body and a gear attached to the ratchet engagement head and mounted in the self-centering crown. The gear has a toothing on the outer periphery thereof which is provided to engage with the inner toothing of the self-centering crown, at least one of said toothings comprising curved spring blades. Said tie-down tensioner makes it possible for tensioning cycles to be performed by moving the bar back and forth.

    Abstract: A water saving device, implemented as a pair of spring loaded, normally-open shutoff valves inserted into the hot and cold water supply lines of a faucet, which are connected via a cable mechanism to a foot actuator. Actuating the mechanism causes the shutoff valves to close, interrupting any flow of water in the supply lines. Releasing the mechanism allows flow to resume. The shutoff valves are installed in series upstream of the normal hand-operated faucet valves. The user starts the water flow and adjusts the temperature of the water in the normal manner using the hand-operated faucet valves. When the user wishes to temporarily stop the water flow he or she steps on the foot pedal, thereby causing the shutoff valves to close. When the pedal is released the shutoff valves open and the water flow resumes at the same flow rate and temperature previously set by the user.

A conventional detent holding the selector fork in disengaged position provides the resistance required to cause the brake to be applied before the lever can move the fork into engaged position.

A drive pinion shaft provided in a differential mechanism for driving the front wheels is positioned in the center of pivotal movements of a front axle housing a front working power out-put shaft and a front wheel drive power input shaft for driving a drive pinion are disposed so that the axes of these power shafts are under and on the right and left sides of the drive pinion shaft, and two transmission shafts disposed in right and left portions of a lower section of a transmission case connect drive mechanisms provided in said right and left portions of the lower section of the transmission case to the power shafts. The rotary power taken out from the transmission case is transmitted by the transmission shafts to their respective front power take-off portions at a high speed without these shafts vibrating.

    Abstract: An overload coupling includes at least one latch plunger housed in a holder or in a coupling member, fits in a recess of a second member to establish connection. The plunger has or is part of a hydraulic system and can be forced out of the recess upon overload against the hydraulic pressure in the system and, in some instances, with the aid of centrifugal forces. The plunger and holder can be part of a unit that is releasably fastened in the coupling member and set to trip upon torque exceeding a predetermined level on the coupling member. Also, the plunger can have internal ducts or external conduits that include a pressure relief valve, as well as a spring return, which can effect connection upon reduced speed when centrifugal force factors are reduced. The pressure in the system can be set remotely with a piston that is spring loaded. In one variation, the coupling can be within a planetary gear system that establishes driving connection from an input to an output via planetary and sun gears.

    Abstract: In a motor vehicle gear drive a transmission block as well as a back-gear stage (7, 32), a power take-off stage (10,11) and a differential gear (39,41) for an axle drive (44) are all arranged in a common housing (20). The whole transmission is directly couplable to a driving engine (1) by way of a clutch (3). Engines with differing r.p.ms and outputs can be reduced to the same r.p.m. by means of the back-gear stage (7,32). The power take-off stage (10,11) arranged on the layshaft (6) of the back-gear stage (7,32) and having a coupling device (9) drives a reduction gear (14), at which the drive pinion shaft (15) and the output gear shaft (16,17) are led outside the housing of the reduction gear (14). In this way these shafts (15; 16,17) rotating at different r.p.m. can drive different working devices, which can be driven whether the vehicle is travelling or stationary by virtue of the controllable power take-off (10,11).

    Abstract: An improved amusement or game device of the type which has one or more indicia-bearing rotatable reels which are rotated upon initiation of play by a player is disclosed. The game device has an improved main drive mechanism which permits the player to vary the initial rotational speed of the reels in direct proportion to the speed in which an associated operating handle is pulled. A supplemental drive mechanism is included for increasing the speed of the reels if the player fails to pull the operating handle with sufficient force to rotate the reels at a predetermined minimum speed. The device also includes an improved indexing means for stopping the reels in accordance with the operation of the game device. The game device also includes means for absorbing excessive energy that may be provided by a player pulling the operating handle with extraordinary speed or force.

    Abstract: A lubrication system is for a power take off assembly and a drive shaft therefor. The drive shaft is mounted for rotation within a housing having a lubricating oil sump and is hollow to include lubricating supply passages therein. The power take off assembly includes a casing sealingly secured to the housing about an opening which provides access to the open end of the hollow drive shaft. Within the casing is a take off shaft which is coaxially aligned with the drive shaft and a device for selectively coupling the take off shaft to the drive shaft. The lubrication system includes a pump which is driven by a gear rigidly secured to the end of the drive shaft and provides lubricating oil from the sump to the end of the power take off assembly casing remote from the housing. Lubricating oil passes through the interior of the power take off casing to the end of the drive shaft to provide lubricating oil therefor.

    Abstract: In a farm tractor of four wheel drive type, a speed change device for a power takeoff shaft projecting from a rear portion of a transmission case for driving a work implement attached to the rear end of the tractor is mounted in the rear portion of the transmission case, and a main shaft to receive output of the engine, a pinion shaft for driving the rear wheels and a transmission shaft for driving the front wheels are mounted in the front half of the transmission case with minimum spacing between the three shafts. This arrangement permits the transmission case to be compact in the vertical as well as transverse directions and provides a large space in the tractor underbelly for attaching a work implement.
