  • Patent number: 11878581
Abstract: The present invention relates to a wheel for motor vehicles that incorporates a planetary gear system within the wheel assembly. The wheel aims to increase the mechanical advantage of the wheel by providing additional rotation to the wheel axis of the vehicle, thus reducing the amount of fuel exhausted by the vehicle during transit. By utilizing an internal and planetary gear system with integrated motors housed within the wheel, the tire of the wheel is able to rotate independently from the axel of the vehicle in the same direction, thus providing an increased power output.

  • Patent number: 5676018
Abstract: A landing gear for semitrailers includes a two-speed single reduction gear assembly having fewer, smaller, and simpler parts, resulting in a compact single reduction gear assembly and cost efficient landing gear unit with a unique clutch-shifting mechanism to provide for shifting from one ratio to another. The single reduction gear assembly is disposed on and about vertically offset input and output shafts further resulting in an easy to crank and shift landing gear unit capable of achieving standard crank handle turn to vertical leg travel distance ratios. The low gear or low speed ratio of the landing gear unit can be varied within a broad range during manufacture, if desired, generally without increasing the overall size or complexity of the two-speed single reduction gear assembly. The landing gear can further include a universal mounting feature and is durable and simple to use.

  • Patent number: 5558174
Abstract: A drive train assembly for motorized vehicles, for example lift trucks. The rotational movement of the output shaft of a motor, for example an electrical motor, is transmitted to a drive wheel by a single drive shaft having at one end a gear interface assembly consisting of a gear on the end of the output shaft and a gear on an end of the drive shaft, and at the other end of the drive shaft by a second gear interface assembly consisting of a gear on the drive shaft and a gear fixedly mounted on the inside of the rim of the drive wheel. The drive train assembly allows for strong, reliable transfer of rotational torque to the drive wheel in a compact, non-complex arrangement with a minimum number of drive parts, bearings and gears. The drive wheel is independently rotatably supported on a spindle mounted to the chassis of the vehicle and bears a majority of the external load and stresses, relieving the drive train assembly of a substantial amount of such load and stresses.

  • Patent number: 5370010
Abstract: A gear drive for shuttleless looms has an input transmission train and an outpost transmission train cooperating for converting the continuous rotational movement of the main loom drive shaft into an oscillating back and forth movement which in turn is converted into a horizontal back and forth movement of the respective gripper rod carrying a gripper head back and forth into the loom shed. The output transmission section or train has two auxiliary parallel output drive shafts, both of which are driven from a central output drive shaft. Two pinions at the free ends of the auxiliary parallel drive shaft mesh with the gripper rod, thereby distributing the drive forces over a larger surface area for reducing the wear and tear on the gripper rod and on the two parallel output drives.

  • Patent number: 5149311
Abstract: In a high-loaded, light-weight, compact, multi-stage gear transmission unit with at least one stage with non-parallel shafts, and a transmission ratio between approximately 70 and 150, like a helicopter transmission, said angle transmission generally forms the weakest link. By adoption of a face gear/cylindrical pinion-stage instead of the commonly used bevelled-stage, not only a more reliable drive is possible, but its efficiency is higher, due to less friction, its size is smaller, its adjustment is simpler such that straight forward replacement becomes possible, and - not in the least - the transmission ratio of said angle drive tends to high ratios in contrast to known bevelled-drives which tend to low ratios. In many cases one or even more stages less become possible, providing a further important reduction in weight and size.
