Abstract: The improved gearbox mechanism of the present invention includes a plurality of cam-actuated gear block assemblies, which transfer power from a power shaft to a secondary or output gear element. Each gear block assembly includes a gear block having a surface that periodically interfaces with a secondary or output gear element. In a preferred embodiment the interface surface comprises a plurality of projections or teeth which correspond to complementary holes, projections or gear teeth on the output gear element. Each gear or torque block assembly further includes pivot assemblies, which connect or link the torque block to a cam assembly, which in turn is connected to a power source. The cam assembly comprises a set of corresponding cam elements arranged in a tandem configuration and having a unique circuitous pathway or groove formed therein so that the movement of the torque block may be controlled in three dimensions in accordance with a certain design parameter.

Abstract: A transmission structure, which is connected to a motor of a filling machine so as to drive a transmission operation of the filling machine, includes a transmitting wheel, a swing set, a clamper, a lift set, a supporting plate and a transmitting set. Under this arrangement, the swing set, the lift set and the transmitting set cooperate with each other via only the transmitting wheel, rather than cooperate with each other via a plurality of members corresponding to different sets as the prior art. Therefore, the structure of the present invention is simpler than that of the prior art; a weight or a volume of the present invention is littler than that of the prior art. In addition, the present invention is easier to maintain than the prior art, because the structure of the present invention is simpler than that of the prior art.

Abstract: A variable compression ratio apparatus with means to vary compression ratio of an internal combustion engine is provided. The variable compression ratio apparatus with reciprocating piston mechanism with extended piston offset of the invention has a rocker arm/lever assembly pivotally mounted on a crankpin of a crankshaft and a fulcrum which moves along only within confines of a pathway/guide. This confined pathway/guide itself can be either pivoted to swing from side to side on a pivot or can move only along a predefined path towards the crankshaft and away in its own defined tracks. A swing or move of the pathway/guide leads to a corresponding change in stroke positions of the piston within the cylinder. Such construction allows a simple and easy way to vary compression ratio of the engine. At the same time all benefits of the reciprocating piston mechanism with extended piston offset are preserved.

A pair of roller cutters are enabled to follow the flat tube at a zero relative speed between the roller cutters and the flat tube. The roller cutters are moved across portions of the flat tube respectively to cut the flat tube while the roller cutters are enabled to follow the flat tube at the zero relative speed. At least one of the roller cutters enters the flat tube by a depth equal to or greater than a half of a distance between outer flat surfaces of the flat tube while the roller cutters are moved across the portions of the flat tube.

Abstract: An engine for generating rotational torque through the oscillating movement of lever arms. The inventive device includes an elongated cylinder having first and second opposed cylinder heads. A pair of pistons are oppositely disposed within the cylinder and coupled together by a connecting rod. At least one lever arm is pivotally mounted at a first end thereof to the connecting rod between the pistons. The lever arm is also pivotally mounted at a medial portion thereof exterior of the cylinder to a mounting plate. A flywheel is rotatable mounted to the mounting plate and engages a second end of the lever arm, whereby oscillation of the lever arm in response to piston movement is translated into rotational movement of the flywheel.

  • Patent number: 5465636
Abstract: A variable length crank arm in a windshield wiper system provides a depressed park position for an associated wiper blade when the direction of rotation of a drive motor is reversed. The crank arm relies on an eccentric driver to vary its length between a first length and a longer second length. When the eccentric driver is rotated in a first direction to wipe the windshield, a spring loaded pin keeps the eccentric driver rotatably fixed to an output arm with the crank arm consequently at the first length. The spring loaded pin also engages a cam slot in a cam plate, the cam plate rotating freely with the output arm and the eccentric driver in the first direction. To move the blade to the depressed park position, the direction of rotation of the drive motor is reversed. This causes the cam plate to become rotatably stopped, with the now stationary cam slot forcing the pin out of engagement with the output arm.

  • Patent number: 5255572
Abstract: A variable stroke mechanism provides a means for varying the stroke and leverage of a linkage between reciprocating power source and crankshaft. The mechanism includes a lever connected at one end to the reciprocating power source and at the other end to the crankshaft with a variable fulcrum point between the two ends. The lever forms a longitudinally extending slot for containing a fulcrum member, the other surfaces of which, while generally cylindrical, secures a series of parallel and equiangularly displaced cylindrical roller bearings. The top of the slot formed within the lever is a flat bearing surface and the opposing bottom surface contains a series of semicircular channels forming a gear train sized and located to successively engage the roller bearings on the fulcrum member and said bearings serving as gear teeth such that rotation of the fulcrum member changes the position of the fulcrum point relative to the lever.

Abstract: An improved technique for balancing inertia forces and rocking couples of a Ross-type Stirling machine (U.S. Pat. Nos. 4,138,897; 4,532,819 and 4,738,105). Two counter-rotating balance masses are used, one on the crankshaft and one on a separate balance shaft. These balance masses lead the throw of the crankshaft by more than 180 degrees of rotation. The axis of the balance shaft is positioned so that a line connecting it and the axis of the crankshaft is inclined with respect to the cylinder axes toward the heavier piston of the machine. The new technique is also applicable to other machines having separate parallel cylinders in which pistons of unequal mass reciprocate out of phase.
