Patent number: 11175688Abstract: A lift truck employs forward and reverse pedals connected through respective cams having different upper and lower cam profiles that engage to provide asymmetric reciprocal pedal motion. For example, first pedal depression causes a first cam upper profile to engage with a second cam upper profile and cause increased elevation of a second pedal, and first pedal depression causes a first cam lower profile to disengage with a second cam lower profile associated with the second pedal, such that first pedal depression is greater than the increased elevation of the second pedal.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2019Date of Patent: November 16, 2021Assignee: Hyster-Yale Group, Inc.Inventor: Anthony Michael Jay

Patent number: 7104036Abstract: A reverse implement option for a tractor or mowing vehicle is activated by moving the reverse foot pedal to an intermediate position. An arm linked to the reverse foot pedal pivots in response to movement of the reverse foot pedal to the intermediate position to actuate a reverse sensing switch. The reverse sensing switch is actuated before a transmission control rod, which links the reverse foot pedal to a hydrostatic transmission swash plate, enables reverse travel of the tractor or vehicle. The PTO operates during reverse travel of the tractor if both the hand operated bypass switch and the reverse sensing switch are actuated.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2004Date of Patent: September 12, 2006Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventor: Harlin James Trefz

Patent number: 6407526Abstract: Some automobiles have mechanisms for adjusting the height of accelerator and brake pedals, and any clutch pedal, so that drivers large and small can adjust the pedals to the best height. All pedals are adjusted by a single reversible electric motor having a shaft connected directly or by a flexible shaft to the adjusting mechanisms. If any fault develops in any mechanism, the pedals may not be adjusted to the same height, which is hazardous to the driver. A safety switching system detects any serious misalignment of the pedals and de-energizes the motor. The system comprises separate switches which are operable by adjustment of the pedals, and are electrically connected in series with the power supply circuit for the motor. When the pedals are aligned, the bridging contactors of the switches are aligned and are effective to maintain the electrical continuity of the motor circuit. Each contactor has three contact sliders which successively engage staggered tabs on contact strips for the respective pedals.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 2000Date of Patent: June 18, 2002Assignee: Indak Manufacturing Corp.Inventors: Charles E. Patent number: 6196342Abstract: A steering mechanism that controls a drive and steer transmission and that causes the transmission to execute turns in the direction a steering wheel is turned when operating in either the forward or reverse direction of travel. In response to operator engagement of a drive control, an actuation linkage shifts an elongate member within a slot formed in a cam member that pivots in response to turning of a steering wheel. Shifting of the rod member between two positions on either side of the cam member pivot axis causes the drive and steer transmission to steer the vehicle in the desired direction when the vehicle is traveling in both forward and reverse.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1999Date of Patent: March 6, 2001Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventors: Richard Donald Teal, Eugene Gary Hayes, David Lewis Marchese, Barry Joseph Goebert, Wayne Robert Hutchinson
