A length of chain passes over the sprocket and has two opposite end portions which extend generally axially of the body. A core connector is secured to each end of the chain and is adapted to be secured to the cores of the control cable assemblies. The apparatus provides a positive and simple mechanical connection between two or more control heads which can be simply installed, and for usual lengths of cable runs does not incur excessive frictional losses.

Two hydraulic jacks are mounted on the stretcher's carriage at opposite ends of the stretcher, and they vertically adjust the stretcher's litter on which a patient rests. A first foot pedal assembly at one end of the stretcher and a second foot pedal assembly at the other end activate the hydraulic jacks. A linkage assembly connects the first and second foot pedal assemblies. An operator of the stretcher can raise or lower either end of the stretcher separately or together from either end of the stretcher using the foot pedal and linkage assemblies.

    Abstract: A spoileron control mechanism is shown which provides for separate or simultaneous braking and rolling of the aircraft through operation of spoilers located on the wings. The control mechanism includes a base to which is mounted two pivot brackets 2. Pivotally mounted to the base are two bell cranks 3 to which are connected via cables 15 to the spoiler. The bell cranks are pivoted in a scissors like fashion by connection via arms 7 to slotted plates 5 that are also pivoted side to side by a control stick 13 which causes the bell cranks to operate the spoilers in a differential fashion for roll control. The bell cranks are further actuated by a lever 10 which causes a cam bar 8 to act on the arms 7 pivoting the bell cranks and causing the spoilers to be actuated simultaneously for braking of the aircraft.

    Abstract: A vehicle inching mechanism is interlocked with a braking mechanism so as to overlap their operating ranges without hampering the low-speed start or stop of the vehicle by the inching mechanism. An inching pedal and a brake pedal are mounted side by side on a stationary shaft via sleeves rotatably fitted thereover and linked to an inching valve and a brake master cylinder, respectively. The sleeves have square jaws at their opposed ends for mating engagement, with clearances therebetween to allow rotation of either sleeve relative to the other within limits. A torsion spring is anchored at one end to the inching pedal sleeve and held at the other end against an abutment on the brake pedal sleeve. Upon depression of the inching pedal, therefore, not only the inching valve but also the brake master cylinder is activated, first through the torsion spring and then through the intermeshing jaws. The depression of the brake pedal results only in the actuation of the master cylinder.

Also rotatably mounted to each shaft is a plurality of levers connected to brake activation rods. Each first lever is biased against a respective cylinder rod of the hydraulic cylinder. During vehicle operation, hydraulic pressure is supplied to the hydraulic cylinder to extract the cylinder rods against a respective first lever, causing each first lever to assume a position which allows normal operation of the brake connecting rods. Should the vehicle lose hydraulic pressure, the hydraulic cylinder retracts, thereby allowing the biased first levers to assume a position which results in the automatic applying of the vehicle brakes.

    Abstract: The present invention is in the field of aircraft flight spoiler control mechanisms. The invention enables the conventional, primary spoiler control system to retain its operational characteristics while accommodating a secondary input controlled by a conventional computer system to supplement the settings made by the primary input. This is achieved by interposing springs between the primary input and the spoiler control unit. The springs are selected to have a stiffness intermediate the greater force applied by the primary control linkage and the lesser resistance offered by the spoiler control unit. Thus, operation of the primary input causes the control unit to yield before the springs, yet, operation of the secondary input, acting directly on the control unit, causes the springs to yield and absorb adjustments before they are transmitted into the primary control system.

    Abstract: A brake control device for a bicycle is disclosed having main and auxiliary levers which are pivoted to a bracket fixed to the handle bar of a bicycle. However, inadvertent change of pressure in the return line will not cause shifting of the feed roll transmission as, due to the equal size of the hydraulic cylinders and the symmetrical arrangement of the cylinders with relation to the transmission shifter rockshaft, the shifting effort applied to the rockshaft by the respective cylinders would be equal but opposite, resulting in zero net shifting effort.

    Abstract: A novel bicycle neck has two sleeves disposed one over the other. A round handle-bar is rotatably mounted in each sleeve. The novel neck is placed into the front wheel fork of the bicycle after the standard prior art gooseneck has been removed. A flexible cable is attached by one end to the handle-bar in the upper sleeve so that the cable could be wound thereon by turning the handle-bar. The cable is then wound around the lower handle-bar and attached thereto to prevent slippage therebetween. The cable terminates at a whiffletree. Also attached to the whiffletree are two more cables disposed on opposite sides of the cable depending from the handle-bars. One of these other cables actuates the front wheel brakes, and the other actuates the rear wheel brakes when the cables are in tension. Tension is placed on the cables by rotating any one of the handle-bars within its respective sleeve.
