Hand And Foot Patents (Class 74/481)
  • Patent number: 5941361
Abstract: The present invention for a construction machine includes a control knob which is connected to a brake pedal and located remotely therefrom within an operator's compartment. The control knob depresses the brake pedal a predetermined amount to achieve neutralization of the hydrostatic transmission. Neutralization of the hydrostatic transmission is presently available by continuous direct application of the brake pedal. The control knob is adjustable within a plurality of positions to set a selected ground speed which, in turn, allows for increased hydraulic power availability to an implement achieved through the hydrostatic transmission neutralization. An electrical circuit is provided that includes a limit switch which overrides the actuation of a brake light signal unless an operator directly applies pressure to the brake pedal. Therefore, the brake light signal is not actuated during the remote setting of the control knob.

  • Patent number: 5800267
Abstract: An apparatus for providing progressively increasing resistance to, and automatic self centering with respect to, an operator motion input to the apparatus. The apparatus has a crossbar with a longitudinal axis and is connected to a beam with a coupling. The beam has a longitudinal axis and is cantilever mounted on a base, with the crossbar mounted in a bearing for rotation about the crossbar's longitudinal axis. The respective longitudinal axes of the crossbar and the beam are parallel to each other. The bearing is rotatably mounted in another bearing, and the first and second bearings have axes of rotation mutually perpendicular to each other. The second bearing is mounted on the base, so that the crossbar is movable about the axis of rotation of the second bearing in response to input transverse forces acting on the crossbar, and the transverse input forces thereby produce a bending moment in the first beam through the coupling.

  • Patent number: 5522213
Abstract: A speed control shifter is provided for use with an hydraulic automotive drive train. The shifter is intended for co-axial mounting on an existing variable speed reciprocating hydraulic pump swash plate angle control shaft. It employs a pair of input plates each intermittently connected to an output plate rigidly connected to the shaft. One input plate is connected to a speed selector handle, the other input plate is linked to an accelerator cable. When starting from neutral activation of one solenoid causes the position of the output plate, and hence the swash plate, to be controlled by motion of the accelerator cable. This allows the automobile to move away from a stopped position as the engine accelerates from idle. Once a first chosen speed range is reached a second solenoid is activated to link the motion of the output plate to the position of the speed selector, and the first solenoid is de-activated to permit normal increases and decreases in speed within the chosen speed range.

  • Patent number: 5197347
Abstract: A control system including interfaced hand and foot control assemblies for independently conditioning an off-highway implement by selectively positioning a regulator thereof relative a neutral position. The foot control assembly includes a self-centered foot pedal and linkages for arranging the push/pull cable relative to the regulator in a manner inhibiting binding forces from being imparted to the cable. The hand control assembly requires independent movement of a control lever in two different planes to shift the hand control assembly from a neutral condition. Moreover, the hand control assembly is isolated from spring forces acting to self center the foot pedal and thus requires low operator efforts to adjust the position of the regulator. The control system of the present invention further includes a mechanism for governing operation of the regulator.

  • Patent number: 4850568
Abstract: A lever connecting mechanism for a horizontal hydraulic jack with tension rod comprises a vertical pumping rod having a traversed U-shape connecting member fixed thereon for receiving a bar provided on a foot pedal which is pivotally connected to the structure of the hydraulic jack, and a lever member pivotally connected to the structure of the hydraulic jack. The lever member has the same axis of rotation as the one of the foot pedal so that said lever member can be used to drive said foot pedal toward a downward direction. Since the foot pedal and the lever member are individually supported by two springs at their upmost position, the foot pedal can be depressed without affecting the lever member, but however, the downward movement of lever member will cause the foot pedal being depressed also.

  • Patent number: 4819896
Abstract: A hand-operated control system for aircraft comprises a push-pull cable operatively connected between a hand-operated actuator and an orientation means that controls the orientation of the aircraft during flight. The actuator is mounted on an existing hand-operated control in the cockpit of the aircraft with sufficient slack in the cable to permit independent operation of the control cable and existing control. The control system provides a redundant control system for pedal-operated controls, thereby allowing wounded pilots, paraplegics, and others to control pedal functions by hand manipulation of an actuator on an already existing hand-operated control.

  • Patent number: 4741222
Abstract: An improved foot-operated gearshift mechanism wherein a foot-operated pedal is operable to cause the pedal to move, generally, up or down. This movement, in turn, causes the gear-shift shaft to rotate so as to change gears. The improvement lies in providing a shifting lever assembly which has three sections. The first section is attached to the foot-operated pedal at one end and has an elbow at the other end. The second section proceeds to a second elbow. From that second elbow, the third section continues to a gearshift handle.

  • Patent number: 4629006
Abstract: A lawn edger attachment for tractors consisting of a base member adapted to be mounted at the side of a tractor, a boom universally pivoted to the base and angling laterally outwardly from the base, and a generally vertical rolling circular blade mounted beneath the outer end of the boom for rotation both on its own axis and about a generally vertical axis. A single manual operating handle operates to pivot the boom horizontally to position the blade directly above a division line between the grass of a lawn and an adjacent paved area, as the tractor is driven in a direction parallel to the division line, and to pivot the boom vertically, as may be necessary to rest the blade on the ground surface at the division line, and a foot pedal then supplies a mechanically multiplied force to press the blade downwardly to penetrate the ground.
