Single Rotatable Lever (e.g., For Bicycle Brake Or Derailleur) Patents (Class 74/502.2)
  • Patent number: 6367347
Abstract: A shift device for actuating at least one gear mechanism on a bicycle, comprising a housing for securing the shift device on the bicycle, a grip element for actuating the shift device, a rotary element and a cable storage device, in particular a spool for winding up a cable to actuate the gear mechanism where the rotary element is connected to the spool and has at least one detent pawl which engages in detent toothing of the housing. It is advantageous that the drive feature on the grip element takes the rotary element along directly in one direction of rotation, whereas the movement of the rotary element in the opposite direction of rotation is effected by release of the detent pawl.

Abstract: A third braking system for an electric motorcycle includes a circuiting apparatus and a mechanism. By depressing an electric-braking button on a switch part of a handle set, a braking signal will be generated and be sent to a signal transformer via an input device of the circuiting apparatus. The signal transformer transforms the braking signal into a digital signal, and then the digital signal is sent to a CPU. After processing the digital signal and detecting the voltage level at a variable resistor, the CPU stops the transmission of driving signals to a driving circuitry for disabling the operation of a speed-control handler of the mechanism, and the CPU also generates a reverse electric potential corresponding to the detected voltage level. The reverse electric potential is then applied to a DC motor via a braking circuitry, for reducing rotation speed of the DC motor to stop the motorcycle. To relieve the braking, the speed-control handler is rotated back to an original state.

Such system of locking must be quick disconnected and reconnected to adapt to the various camber tubes that have varying degrees of angles. Not only do the camber tubes adjust the caster and camber of the wheels, but are adjusted for wheelbase width The brake hub locking mechanism must move with these elements and have the capacity to lock the wheels at whatever position the wheels are in. The sliding mechanism in the handle is completely enclosed to prohibit dirt, which wears such elements quickly. The rotary cam mechanism sliding against the rectangular slider provides the means of pulling the cables straight thus eliminating breaking and thereby locking or unlocking the wheels of the wheelchair.

Abstract: The invention relates to a shifter for actuating at least one gear mechanism of a bicycle including a housing, a gripping element for actuating the shifter, and a movable element for exerting tension on and/or for releasing a gear transfer means. The movable element has a pawl which engages in a set of latching teeth in the housing. A driver on the gripping part preloads a spring on the movable element during a shifting operation in the release direction which urges the movable element in the release direction. The advantage of a shifter for bicycle gear mechanisms according to the present invention is to be found in that, by simple means, it becomes possible to shift gears, especially in the release direction, quickly and independently of the preload being exerted on the movable element by the gear mechanism via the transfer element.

  • Patent number: 6199445
Abstract: A bicycle brake cable system has a brake cable coupling arrangement in which a plurality of branches are provided from a single brake lever force application lug. Splitting of the brake cable is performed within the structure of a brake barrel adjuster. The barrel adjuster is provided with a cylindrical cavity that receives a rotatable coupler therewithin. The interface ends of the force transmission cable segments are terminated in the coupler, which is free to rotate relative to the barrel adjuster. As a consequence, the barrel adjuster may be threadably advanced to either increase or decrease brake tension by rotation relative to its threaded connection to the brake lever assembly body. By providing a coupler that is rotatable relative to the barrel adjuster, the barrel adjuster can be rotated in both directions to increase or reduce brake tension.

Abstract: A controller for the brake of a rolling walkkit includes a controller base, a grip and a connect rod combined together. The controller base has an upper cylindrical portion fixed around a handrest of the rolling walkkit and a lower hollow portion for pivotally connecting the joint member of the grip, and the control rod is pivotally connected inside said grip. When the grip is pushed up, the connect rod is moved to swing to pull forward a brake wire firmly fixed with a lower end of the connect rod to brake the wheels of the walkkit temporarily in moving, and releasing the grip lets the brake wire also loosened to let the wheels to move again. When the grip is pressed down, the connect rod is forced to swing and let the brake wire pulled forward to stop the wheels for a long time, and releasing the grip lets the brake wire recover, permitting the wheels of the walkkit move again.
