Patent number: 4409861Abstract: A dial type wire control device includes a drum and a strap or band in combination. The drum is connected to a dial member through a connecting shaft so that the drum and the dial member can rotate synchronously. The band is to be wound on the periphery of the drum when the drum rotates in one direction and to be unwound when it rotates in the opposite direction. Thus, the wire is pulled or pushed to control a subject in a conventional manner.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1980Date of Patent: October 18, 1983Assignee: Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.Inventor: Yukio Sakurai

Patent number: 4351197Abstract: Precision positioning apparatus includes a rotatable driving element connected to a rotatable driven element having a diameter substantially greater than that of the driven element, and rotary movement of the driving element imparts rotary movement to the driven element. The diameters of the two elements are related so that a relatively large movement of the driving element results in a relatively small movement of the driven element, and vice versa.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 1981Date of Patent: September 28, 1982Inventor: Donald G. Patent number: 4320673Abstract: A control device for an automatic drive of an automobile having an adjusting device that is actuatable by an accelerator pedal comprising a deflector roll with which transmission means for a slide unit of the drive and for a spring-loaded throttle valve of an internal combustion engine are connected. The transmission means includes a cable that is connected to the adjusting device and is led to the slide unit and to the accelerator pedal. The cable is held in the deflector roll by a securing means. The transmission means is also connected with a rotatable actuator lever for the throttle valve. According to a preferred embodiment, the deflector roll has a guide groove for the cable and a recess in which a clamping sleeve is fastened to the cable, the clamping sleeve being held within the recess under the tensioning of the cable, whereby the clamping sleeve is released from the recess upon a rupturing of the cable.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 1979Date of Patent: March 23, 1982Assignee: Dr. Ing. h.c.F. Patent number: 4273484Abstract: A quick release winch tie down assembly is mounted in the tracks of a ramp of a car hauler vehicle and includes a crank shaft extending from one end through a segmented bearing sleeve, a release shaft connected to said crank shaft in nonrotatable telescopic arrangement, and a tie down sleeve extending about both the release shaft and crank shaft in a space between the bearing sleeve segments. A spring urges lock elements of the tie down sleeve and the release shaft in locking relationship. A tie down chain is connected at one end portion to the tie down sleeve, and a rachet and pawl means limits the rotation of crank shaft to one direction, so that when the crank shaft is rotated it also rotates the release shaft and tie down sleeve and winds the tie down chain about the tie down sleeve, and when the lock elements are disengaged, the tie down sleeve is free to rotate and unreel the tie down chain.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 1979Date of Patent: June 16, 1981Assignee: Bankhead Enterprises, Inc.Inventor: Gregory G. Patent number: 4231316Abstract: Disclosed herein is a marine propulsion device including a shiftable, reversing transmission located in a propulsion unit and connecting a drive shaft to a propeller shaft and a shifting mechanism including an actuating member connected to the transmission. Movement of the actuating member to shift the transmission between a neutral condition and forward drive and reverse drive conditions is effected by a shifting system including a flexible dual cable conduit assembly connected between the actuating member and a shift lever mounted for reciprocal movement. The opposite ends of the two shift cables are linked together in a manner such that the movement of the shift lever in opposite directions causes alternate pulling of the shift cables to shift the transmission.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1978Date of Patent: November 4, 1980Assignee: Outboard Marine CorporationInventors: Gerald F. Bland, Guy D. Payne

Patent number: 4040581Abstract: A system for reliably limiting the maximum positions to which the power control lever of an aircraft engine may be set in the thrust reversal mode corresponding to whether the aircraft is in the air or on the ground. A plurality of cable drums, one for each of the power control lines extending between the cockpit and the engines of a multi-engine aircraft, is associated with an adjustable stop mechanism which provides a first stop position for the cable drum when the aircraft is in the air with landing gear up and a second stop position permitting increased reverse thrust when the aircraft is on the ground. The system is coordinated with the landing gear position sensing system of the aircraft and works in conjunction with presently installed thrust reversing systems.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 1976Date of Patent: August 9, 1977Assignee: McDonnell Douglas CorporationInventors: George A. Patent number: 4026165Abstract: A novel bicycle neck has two sleeves disposed one over the other. A round handle-bar is rotatably mounted in each sleeve. The novel neck is placed into the front wheel fork of the bicycle after the standard prior art gooseneck has been removed. A flexible cable is attached by one end to the handle-bar in the upper sleeve so that the cable could be wound thereon by turning the handle-bar. The cable is then wound around the lower handle-bar and attached thereto to prevent slippage therebetween. The cable terminates at a whiffletree. Also attached to the whiffletree are two more cables disposed on opposite sides of the cable depending from the handle-bars. One of these other cables actuates the front wheel brakes, and the other actuates the rear wheel brakes when the cables are in tension. Tension is placed on the cables by rotating any one of the handle-bars within its respective sleeve.Type: GrantFiled: January 12, 1976Date of Patent: May 31, 1977Inventor: Joseph Papp
