  • Patent number: 10745100
Abstract: Counterbalance assemblies include a torsion bar spring for counter-balancing the weight of upwardly opening aircraft doors for ease of opening and closing. The torsion bar spring may be linked to the aircraft door through an integrated gear reduction system comprised of two pairs of spur gears and respective shafts as well as a linkage assembly. A cable reel is connected to the output shaft and the input shaft is connected to a four bar linkage system attached to the end of the torsion bar. The cable reel stores the lift cable and provides the output torque to lift the aircraft door. When the aircraft door opens or closes, the center of mass loses or gains height respectively, causing a variation of gravitational potential energy. In such a manner, the gravitational potential energy is exchanged with strain elastic energy from the counter-balance spring therefore reducing the required external source of energy whether it is from a power assisted means or manual operation.

Abstract: The motor according to the present invention consists of a piston (1), cylinder (2), connecting rod (3), connecting rod rotary bolt gear wheel (4), connecting rod rotary bolt (5), crank shaft (6), crank shaft bolt (7), double faced gear wheel (9) and other gear wheels (10, 11, 12). As the connecting rod (3) is moved by the connecting rod rotary bolt gear wheel (4) that moves together with the connecting (14) rotary bolt (5), without being directly dependent on the movement of the crank shaft bolt (7) although the connecting rod (3) is connected to the crank shaft (6) and to the piston (1); the crank shaft (6) moves independently of the connecting rod (3). This provides the difference between the travel path of the piston (1) between the lower and upper dead points, and the rotational diameter of the crank shaft bolt (7). In this case, the connecting rod (3) makes an elliptical movement on the crank shaft bolt (7) instead of a circular movement.

  • Patent number: 6564762
Abstract: A drive mechanism can be utilized either as a pump or an engine. The device has a piston and cylinder. The piston has a rod that connects with a power gear via a link pin that joins the power gear at a point offset from the power gear shaft. The power gear orbits about a rim gear. A crankshaft gear mounted to a primary shaft is rotated by the orbital movement of the power gear. The rim gear and power gear can be placed in position to constrain the rod to move along the axis of the cylinder. Also, the rim gear can be rotated to a different position so as to cause the end of the rod to orbit with the power gear. This position can be selected to change the stroke length and thus the torque.

The pinion shaft has a pinion journal which moves in a purely linear direction. A pinion body is connected to the pinion journal and is offset therefrom. The pinion body is placed inside a carrier body of the pinion carrier. The pinion body rotates around the center of axis of the carrier body, causing the carrier body to rotate on its own axis. An output shaft, whose centerline coincides with the centerline of the carrier body, rotates on its own axis and has a purely rotational motion.

Abstract: A rotary indexing table comprises a stationary gear mounted on a base, a rotary drive mounted within the base and carrying a first crank arm, and a planetary gear on the first crank arm engaging the stationary gear. A second crank arm is mounted on the planetary gear, and has a freely rotatable drive stub which engages and drives a radially directed force receiving member mounted on a rotatable table. The rotation axis of the freely rotatable drive stub overlies the circumference of the planetary gear; and as the planetary gear rotates, the drive stub is coupled to the force receiving member so as to freely move along it in a reciprocating manner. When the longitudinal axis of the first and second crank arms are aligned, the indexing table is locked in place and cannot be moved by an external force.

  • Patent number: 6145394
Abstract: This invention relates to a transmission mechanism that allows the transformation of linear movement into circular movement and vice-versa and may be applied to any machine where such a transformation is required. This mechanism includes connecting rods mounted on eccentric wheels, which are in turn connected to the elbow of the crankshaft. Due to this special disposition, these rods do not move in the traditional oscillating manner but only in linear form. Each connecting rod and its piston are cast as a single, light metal piece, without the use of connecting pins. The piston length need not be greater than strictly necessary for holding the ring. The connecting rod length is also reduced. The distance from the crankshaft axis to the cylinder-head union is not bigger than half that now typically in use. The crankshaft length is less than half the length of traditional ones.
