  • Patent number: 6314773
Abstract: A locking mechanism adapted to be placed in locked and unlocked positions. The locking mechanism includes a lock-bolt mounted for movement between locked and unlocked positions and a first engagement element having disengaged and engageable positions. An electric actuator having a movable output drives the first engagement element to the engageable position. A manually operated second engagement element can be engaged with the first engagement element in its engageable position. A lock-bolt drive mechanism is operatively coupled between the lock-bolt and the first engagement element. A slidable element responds to a movement of the manually operated second engagement element and slides linearly between engaged and disengaged positions. The slidable element cooperates with the lock-bolt drive mechanism to enable manual movement of the lock-bolt between the locked and unlocked positions thereof such that the disengaged position of the slidable element corresponds to the locked position of the lock-bolt.

  • Patent number: 6301994
Abstract: Detent protrusions 66 disposed at a detent rod 60 of a shift lever 40 are molded so as to be integrated with the detent rod 60 in such a manner that the cross section of a portion of each of the detent protrusions 66 connected to the detent rod 60, taken along a direction substantially intersecting the direction in which each of the detent protrusions 66 protrudes, is larger, as compared to cross sections of other portions of the detent protrusion 66, than the portion of the detent protrusion 66 connected to the detent rod 60. As a result, even when the detent protrusions 66 and the detent rod 60 are molded from a synthetic resin so as to be integrated with each other, the detent protrusion 66 ensures the same strength as a conventional detent pin is achieved.

  • Patent number: 6223610
Abstract: When a leaf spring 22 is rotated integrally with the rotation of a knob dial 18, the leaf spring 22 is pushed and deflected by three corners of a cylindrical section 17a. After that, when three corners of the cylindrical section 17a get over the leaf spring 22 and new three surfaces are engaged with the leaf spring 22, rotation of the knob dial 18 is regulated. In this case, the pushing direction of the leaf spring 22 is the same as the direction of deflection. Therefore, the rotational resistance of the knob dial 18 can be reduced. Accordingly, a feeling of operation of the knob dial 18 becomes light.

  • Patent number: 6220114
Abstract: An operator-controlled positioning device having tactile feedback which includes an elongated tubular bullet-shaped housing and a coil spring slidably engaged in said housing. The housing includes a semi-spherical cap enclosing one end. The cap is biased by the coil spring against a scale having a plurality of detents which represents gradients along the scale. The coil spring provides a biasing force such that, during relative movements between the housing and the scale, the end cap disengages each detent as it moves away, and engages each detent as it becomes axially aligned with said housing. The assembly is particularly suited for detent applications in automotive HVAC control panels.

Abstract: A locking winch includes a rotatable shaft coupled to a bracket adapted for connection to a structure such as a trailer, truck, hoist, etc. Wrapped around the shaft is a cable, rope or chain and connected to one end of the shaft is a hand operated crank for rotating the shaft in a first direction for retracting the cable about the shaft or for rotating the shaft in a second, opposed direction for removing the cable from the shaft, with the crank movable between first and second positions on the shaft. A sprocket fixedly mounted to the bracket includes a plurality of spaced teeth disposed about the periphery thereof. A torsion spring coupled to the hand operated crank urges the crank to the first position. A locking pin attached to the hand operated crank is disposed between adjacent teeth on the periphery of the sprocket when the crank is in the first position to prevent rotation of the shaft and either withdrawal of the cable from or take-up of the cable on the rotatable shaft.

  • Patent number: 6035738
Abstract: A bias mechanism includes a plunger secured within a bore extending in a generally tangential direction through a shift fork hub and intersecting a transverse aperture for mounting the hub on a shift shaft, the plunger having a portion protruding through the bore to selectively contact either the shift shaft or a shifting key or pin during rotation of the shift shaft, and a spring to provide resistance to movement of the plunger within the bore thereby causing rotational resistance to the shift shaft while eliminating axial resistance or drag during translation of the shift shaft. In one embodiment, the plunger contacts a shifting element fixed to the shift shaft, such as a shifting key or pin. In another embodiment, the plunger contacts the shift shaft directly but only during selection of the biased shift yoke for translation to engage a particular gear.

Abstract: A swaying mechanism is provided, which can be used on various kinds of electrical appliances that need to be swayed during use, such as electric fans, dryers, and heaters. The swaying mechanism can protect the motor from being burned out when the swaying motion is abruptly stopped by foreign objects, and also can allow the electric cable to be always fixed in position all the time during the swaying motion such that the cable would not wear out. The swaying mechanism includes a synchronization motor; a first elbow member coupled to the motor shaft; a linkage bar for providing a reciprocating force when the motor rotates; a second elbow member which can be swayed by the reciprocating force from the linkage bar; and a toothed section on which the second elbow member is swayably mounted.

  • Patent number: 6026705
Abstract: A cable assembly secured inside the trunk compartment of a motor vehicle having dual actuator cables. The cable assembly includes a housing, a pulley member rotatably mounted to the housing and a slide lock member. A first actuator cable slidingly cooperates through the housing and pulley member with one end attached to a pull-strap inside the trunk compartment and the second end attached to a release latch. A second actuator cable has one end attached to a pull-strap located in the proximity of the driver's seat and the second end attached to the pulley member to rotate the pulley member upon pulling the pull-strap. Rotating the pulley member allows the pulley member to engage a ball slug on the first actuator cable to drive the second end and actuate the release latch. A slide lock member is capable of engaging the pulley member to prevent rotation, and therefore, prevent the pull strap in the passenger compartment from actuating the release latch.
