    Abstract: This invention is directed to a door latch having an auxiliary bolt which activates the latch bolt, and the use of a latch to confine small children in the home. The auxiliary bolt has a hinged beveled end which pivots when the door is opened but is fixed when the door is closed to activate the latch. The latch is placed five feet above the floor to prevent a small child from opening the door. The latch has a guard plate below the door handle to prevent a small child from opening the latch with a stick. The latch can be mounted on any side of any door.

    Abstract: A two-piece handle for use in positioning a vehicle lifting jack beneath a vehicle and for rotating a spindle of that jack, which handle comprises a jack handle rod, a jack handle rod extension, and a jack handle coupling for releasably interconnecting the jack handle rod and the jack handle rod extension in co-axial alignment. The jack handle coupling comprises a sleeve mounted over and fixedly secured to a knuckle joint of the jack handle rod and adapted to receive a knuckle joint of the jack handle rod extension. A spring wire engageable with the knuckle joint of the jack handle rod extension secures the two pieces of the rod in coupled engagement. Preferably, the knuckle joints of both sections of the jack handle are formed by bending the ends of the rods 180.degree. into a J-shaped configuration shaped to be permanently secured to the knuckle joint of one of the rods and to slidably receive the knuckle joint of the other rod.

The elongated lever arm is provided with an adjustable extension arm so that the length of the lever arm can be adjusted to an extent desired to best facilitate manipulation thereof.

    Abstract: A water craft or land vehicle is stabilized against rolling and pitching forces by a mass or masses rotating about a vertical axis. The mass or masses are distributed along the vertical axis so that the center of the overall mass lies on the roll and pitch axes so that resistance to roll and pitch is exerted without precession. The gyro is gimballed along two axes which coincide with the roll and pitch axes. A stop mechanism allows a free pitching and rolling through a small angle before gyro resistance is met. Hydrofoils may be extended and retracted under pitch and roll signals from the gyro for extra stability.

    Abstract: A hand crank device and associated method for winding winches such as those used on flat bed tractor trailers. The hand crank device includes an elongated pin element that is sized to engage the drive shaft of a winch. The pin element is long enough to enter through one hole on the drive shaft, extend across the drive shaft and exit the drive shaft through a second hole on the opposite side. The pin element is affixed to the short arm section of an L-shaped bracket. A handle is affixed to the long arm section of the L-shaped bracket, thereby enabling a torque to be applied to the L-shaped bracket and the pin element affixed to the L-shaped bracket. The torque acting on the pin element is transferred to the drive shaft of the winch, thereby causing the drive shaft to turn and the winch to rewind.

The improvement in this clamp results from (1) single or multiple knife like sealing ribs or lip edges on the blade member bottom for engaging the pouch walls against a flat bottom of the trough channel and (2) latch means located midway between the ends of the clamping elements for pressing the two elements together (as well as releasing them) and producing an audible snapping signal to alert the user that the latch means is in the proper location. The latch means is easy to locate by the user and distributes the force pressing the elements together more equally than prior art devices.

    Abstract: A fluid pendulum arrangement is used for implementing fast initial erection of vertical gyros by maintaining the gyro wheel spin axis near vertical during the gyro "power-off" mode of operation. Fluid is contained in a lower fluid chamber section which is disposed below the rotational axes of the gyro inner and outer gimbals. The mass of the fluid in cooperation with the fluid chamber moment arm results in a gyro wheel pendulosity that is greater than the combined gyro component friction torques. Upon the "power-on" or gyro wheel spin up mode of operation, the fluid tends to migrate from the lower section of the chamber to an upper section thereof which is arranged relative to the gimbal rotational axes so that gyro wheel pendulosity is negligible. In one embodiment of the invention, the fluid chamber is an external "add-on" feature to the gyro wheel rotor and in another embodiment, the fluid chamber is integral with said rotor.

An external yoke is attached to the ends of a hub assembly which supports the gyro and camera platforms for rotation about pan, tilt and roll axes. The yoke is associated with an externally located vibration damping system interposed between the yoke and the support arm attached to the helicopter or other transporting vehicle. This makes possible a greater degree of helicopter pitch and roll without having any support structure impact the gyro and camera. In one embodiment the platforms are associated with separately rotatable hemispheres joined to provide a spherical fairing. In another embodiment the hemispheres are attached together for common rotation about pan and tilt axes.

    Abstract: A tiller handle extension for use as a furtherance of a marine type outboard motor tiller control handle by attaching it to a tiller control handle by using an adapter that is modified to fit a tiller control handle. The device is adapted to be used quickly and easily by use of any adapter modified for attaching to virtually all sizes of tiller handles. The device not only permits one to control the throttle on the tiller control handle, but is an extension of the kill button, which stops the motor. The kill button is usually located at the outer end of the motor's tiller control handle. By attaching the present invention to the tiller control handle, the kill button is extended, by use of an actuator within the present invention, to the end of the tiller handle extension. This permits an operator to stop the motor by pushing a button, which is part of an actuator located in the present invention, which in turn depresses the actual kill button on the end of the tiller control handle.

These gear teeth on the gear plate enter the slots in the pivot plate to rotate the pivot plate for operation of the switch handle. Rotation of the pivot plate is generated by movement of the toggle handle in a vertical plane.

A transverse opening is provided to accomodate and seat the stem when the cross-member or oppositely extending transverse handle is in the interior chamber.     Abstract: A control lever for an automobile which is used to replace original equipment levers without requiring the removal of the dashboard. A preferred embodiment of the present invention includes a fork-shaped insert member slidable within a lever body, the insert having a pair of tines which are passed through a slot in the dashboard to engage a rotor plate behind the dashboard. By passing a screw through the lever body and threading it into the insert member from the front of the dashboard, the lever body and insert members are drawn together to clamp onto the rotor plate, securing the lever in place. Lateral movement of the lever within the slot will rotate the rotor plate, in order to select a desired function. Also disclosed is a method of replacing a climate control lever without removing the dashboard.

One end of the link is fixed in the marginal edge of one door, the other end being fixed to a lever arm which can be selectably engaged with or disengaged from a lateral bracket on the latch bar of the other door, only when the arm is rotated out of its horizontal transport position into the vertical. Rotation of the bar due to torque exerted by a freight item pressing against the door is limited by a stop pin carried by the bar engaged in a slot in a door-mounted journal. The opening swing of the door is limited to a few centimeters as the link becomes taut and the lever arm remains horizontal, visually signalling the hazard.
